GOAT debate related to era Montana vs Brady
C.Biscuit97 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
That is a great point about the rule changes. It has never been easier to be a qb/ receiver. Bad qbs throw for 4,000 yards and only guys like Marino used to be able to do that. I think it was the nfc championship game where Montana got absolutely destroyed. If that hit happened on Brady, that player would be kicked out of the league. And I hate them but what the Pats did in a salary cap era is maybe the most remarkable dynasty in sports history. Those 49ers, cowboys, and Bills teams of the 90s couldn’t stay together the way they did then. in terms of coolness though, Montana >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Brady Kelly by far had the best team. Kelly has a pretty bad playoff resume. You put Marino or Elway on those Bills teams, we win multiple SBs. Elway carried some garbage teams to the SB. I definitely think players are softer now compared to them. But lebron James is 6’8” 260 lbs of pure muscle. In terms of toughest, the older eras win. But the skill and athleticism of players is so much better now. Bob Cousy would dribble once in between his legs and people would lose their minds. Imagine Cousy playing in the nba today? It would be hilarious. -
This isn’t remotely true.

GOAT debate related to era Montana vs Brady

I loved Montana growing up but he got to throw to Jerry Rice, maybe the greatest football player ever. Steve Young, when healthy, was arguably better than Montana in that system. They also were loaded teams because there was no cap. Look at the scrubs Brady was throwing go besides Gronk. Winning the amount of SBs they did in a salary cap makes Brady blow Montana away. Of course if does. It’s like the current 49ers now. If you blindly look at Jimmy G’s stats and “wins,” he looks great. However, the fact that almost any qb can step in and be successful shows there is nothing special about him. If there was any drop off between Montana and Young, it makes Montana look better. But Young was ever better than him. -
I agree 100%. It’s just how he went from good draft value to potential star to bum so quickly! Expectations are always moving. He is at best a 3rd option/ homer in threat. Still valuable but not a guy you want do count on all the time. I believe they think JAN can be an outside guy as well. He seems like the perfect compliment to our top “2” guys. I personally want a monster TE but that’s not happening.
-
I agree with that. I just don’t know what kinda of value you’re going to get for either. A top 5 pick just got traded for a 5th.
-
Not sure he will get a contract but he will get a chance to prove himself this year. it’s hilarious all the knee jerk fans have. Davis was a fan favorite. Now after having a “bad” year (and his numbers are in par with a lot of number 2s), he’s a bum. I think he’s primed for a really good year. that said, we still need a couple more wrs. JSN would absolutely perfect for this team. With all due respect, dudes like all those guys you named should never stop you from trying to better the position. Those are all very meh players.
-
I mean Carr might get you to the playoffs but not much else. I would rather go all out for a d bag like Rodgers than settle for meh. You aren’t really giving Hackett credit for that? It’s like Barry Switzer winning SBs with the Cowboys.

Also, do some fans think NFL GMs are complete morons (some are)? Every Dan tries to trade Oliver for any player available? Do you think teams are interested in acquiring a “penetrating “ DT with 2.5 sacks and a $10 million contract? No one wants Oliver at that price, much less give up anything if real value for it. Some Buffalo 3 + bar bill beef on WECK & chicken wing combo for Ana De Armas. Get it done Beane.

My favorite is Derek Eater when someone caught a bad angle of him. and Allen isn’t exactly in the greatest shape either. Most qbs are skinny soy boys (see Brady,Tom) or dad bods with a great arm. Jacked, really in shape qbs never make it (see Quinn, Brady or now Levis, Will). Basically, this is the only reason I didn’t make it as a nfl qb. Too muscular. 😉 Qbs, pitchers, basketball shooters rarely do chest or fly type exercises. The “glamour” exercises can really mess with your mechanics.
-
Would that even work on Madden?
-
The Bucs aren’t required to give him away haha.
-
The Jets not getting Rodgers after all this would be the most Jets thing ever. I still don’t why the Packers have to trade him either or settle for value. Give us 2 1st rounders or you don’t get him. And if you don’t want to play A A Ron, enjoy leaving 50+ mil on the table.

Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
C.Biscuit97 replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I meant for the upcoming season. It’s all negotiations. He doesn’t want to leave and the Ravens don’t want to lose him. I get both sides. -
From WR7 to WR1 to one of the best in the NFL

How did this becomes a Stevie Johnson bashing thread??? He’s not a hall of famer but one of the first “modern” players with some swag who made it cool to be a Bill. Nothing but love for SJ! -

Trust me, I know Lamar has definitely dropped the ball in several ways. But I never get why people get worked up over negotiating. He hasn’t missed a game and it’s the end result that matters. If he ends up getting his money or close to it, what did this really effect? -
Agreed and I like Campbell. It would need to be a generational type LB and Campbell doesn’t seem like he’s that type. It also seems like bad team building. Draft a guy in the first, let him walk, and then draft another guy in the 1st 4 years later? Most LBs are a product of the d line in front of them.

I hated the idea of Beckham and clearly Diggs was an ascending player without injury. But it’s one year and the Ravens are desperate. Can’t see it changing them major in any way but they are at least trying to get some playmakers and it’s not a major investment.
-
What two good receivers can you sign for $15 million? he’s not but he has played with garbage. I didn’t want Beckham at any price but he is the best receiver Lamar has ever had, which is sad because he’s kinda broken. But this is their “Diggs move.” It’s a one year deal. He has a ring and the Ravens are always good. Some of you act like he went to the Jags. The Ravens have been one of the best franchises in the nfl for the last 20 years.
-
Rivers made the playoffs 7 out of 16 season. Lamar made it every year if his career until he missed the rest of this year when they were the number 1 seed. Is Allen never going to win a SB because he hasn’t? Saying absolutes about young qbs, much less one who has a 70% winning %, is pretty stupid.

Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
C.Biscuit97 replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
Can’t wait until he goes to another team and then I can say that I didn’t want him anyways -
I believe you were on the no Beckham train with me. Gonna be a lot of flip floppers now.
-
If Lamar plays, yes. They made the playoffs ever year he has been healthy.

That was under Roman.
