With our defense and our schedule, with a more consistent offense (I’m trying to be nice), there is a chance where Allen would have zero comebacks this season. That’s why the stat is overrated. You shouldn’t have to comeback against the Bengals and Fins. Without our defense, the Jets game is over in the first half. We shouldn’t have to get excited we scored 14 points to win a game against the Titans. its early, we’re 5-1. But this defense is hiding a lot of faults. And if we going to be a true contender, we can’t keep on depending on them to keep us in every game. We should be putting garbage teams away in the first half.

We could dig way more in this stat. The more your team isn’t good, the more chances you have for a comeback. The better your defense is, the more chances you have for a comeback. To say Allen’s comeback against the Titans where we scored 7 points until the 4th quarter is the same as the Reich one is crazy. With this defense, more consistent offense would led to less opportunities for comebacks. Now what a smart offensive coach might say is that Allen seems to be better in a hurry up, less structured offense and to try it early in the games when the offense goes in a rut.

Pad Stafford 28 comebacks in 147 starts. 19% peyton Manning 43 comebacks in 265 starts. 16% its almost like one of the all time great qbs had less chances for comeback because he is awesome and doesn’t need to comeback. I’d also love to see a breakdown of comebacks where the defense gave up 21 or more points. Because the Colts had seem terrible defenses. Not all comebacks are the same.

Omg. You’re such a soccer mom. Someone said something not amazing about my baby! Let me get the other soccer moms to yell at them! We’re 5-1. Things are good. But sorry for not throwing a party because we have pathetically low standards for good qb play. Allen “led” a comeback against the Titans and we scored 2 tds!!! He led a comeback against one of the worst teams in modern history! We came back against the 0-7 Bengals! Look, he’s improved in some things but this defense carries this team. If we had a more consistent offense, we could do some real damage in this crappy AFC. Our qb expectations are so pathetically low.

Just looked it up. Kelly had 21 4th quarter comebacks in 160 starts. (13%). Allen has 5 in 17 starts (29%). The Bills would dominate early in games in the 90s and won’t need to come back. It’s a very overrated stat. If we had more consistent offense on the first 6 games, Allen wouldn’t have so many comebacks.

You can say the same for Mayfield. Also folks were saying Jackson, a Heisman winning trophy qb, shouldn’t even play qb in the NFL. I think that qualifies as doubting him. i generally get what everyone is saying and I do think Allen is an awesome dude. But it still comes down to how they play. Losman cleaned up Buffalo. EJ was a good dude who had a sneaker scavenger hunt. Not of this really matters in the end if you aren’t good enough. There are plenty of Buffalo guys if they are good enough. Stop with the win- loss records for qbs. So completely misleading.

Jackson averages more yards passing per game and has more passing tds. And this list will probably change every game.

Pats get Sanu for Second Rounder

Good call. Between him and Little Julian, they will definitely have some trick plays in now. Sanu probably has a stronger arm than Brady at this point. -
Yeah, I can’t argue that he wasn’t anything but terrible. But good QBs have had terrible games. I think Romo threw 5 ints against us. Big Ben has some terrible games. but yeah, it was an all time bad performance. It’s crazy but he looked so good against Dallas the week before. But as I have said with Allen, the key to being a franchise qb is being consistent. Darnold seems to have some real highs and lows so far.

They won a road game in Seattle against a 5-1 team.

Sorry, I’m just nitpicking here but I think Jackson and Mayfield would have embraced Buffalo as well because they are currently playing in similar cities. and I’m kinda over the whole little old Buffalo mentality. I want us to start thinking we aren’t the underdogs anymore. Hope this makes sense.

Agreed. The 4th quarter stuff is great but if we didn’t have a really good defense, we might be out of the game by then. 4th quarter comebacks are becoming overrated. basically, there’s a could ways this could go. It could go the Bortles, Sanchez, Mitch T route where we ignore obvious flaws because they are “winning” and they never progress. Or it could go the Brady, Wilson, Big Ben route where they are game managers who eventually develop into franchise guys. I have my concerns about Allen but I’m interested to see how this season finishes up.
-
I agree with your post but I think all of these guys could have fit Buffalo. There’s some narrative that Allen is a Buffalo guy more than other QBs. Not really sure why.

Last year’s Bears was really good too especially because they have Mitchell T.

Are people going to do this every week?
-
I don’t know what people expected. He’s been a bottom five OC most of his career. But overall, he’s fine. Nothing special but fine. I’ll give him a C.

Pats get Sanu for Second Rounder

I mean they get the media hype because they go to the SB every year. I bet the Bills’ move weren’t as doubted as much during the SB years as they have been in the last 20 years. It is a good trade for the Falcons to get that much for him. He also seems to fit the Pats well and they have nine million 2nd round picks. Not a game changer but a solid pickup. His wrs kinda suck right now. -
Yeah, that int to td stat is insane. But it’s way too early for that and their schedule gets a lot harder. But it seems like Brady is shifting more to a game manager role again.
