Well, Kiper and McShay both loved this pick so I gotta think it’s a solid selection. Interesting they moved up. Must’ve thought Tampa would take him or maybe they had inside info that some other club was about to trade into that slot to grab Ford.

How many miles currently are on your car?
zow2 replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
104,000 on a 2012 Toyota Sienna. I kept the miles in check until i started doing Uber part-time to/from my regular job about 2 yrs ago. But people tell me well maintained Toyota's can easily top 250K miles so I'm hopeful. -
If the Bills stand pat with their draft position, any chance for them to get AJ with either their #112 or 131 pick? I'm assuming they will pick a WR at #40 or 74 but they definitely could use two.
-
I hear ya, I'm typically of that mindset but this year i feel like all those round 5-7 guys are going to be such a longshot anyway, I'm fine picking at #40 but maybe move up from #74 tonight if the guy they desperately want it still on the board. I wouldn't give away anything in next year's draft just deal from the #74 slot and Saturday's picks.
-
I'd be OK with packaging a bunch of the remaining picks just to get two solid players tonight. A starting quality Offensive Tackle and Wide Receiver. That's it. If the entire draft nets 3 solid starters I can live with that, taking into consideration all the Free Agents they signed as well.

PanchoBilla enters Hospice (Has now passed away)

This is such a punch to the gut. So sad how a great person like Ezra is stricken with an awful illness. It makes no sense. One thing for sure, he will never be forgotten around here -
Robin Lehner on playing in Buffalo & Buffalo Fans
zow2 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Listen up Terry and Kim. "Hockey heaven" huh? The fans are pissed because they show up year after year, pay good money and lose..., the media is negative b/c they always lose..people in the organization are grumpy because they always lose. The arena needs some fixing up.. etc.. I love the Pegula's for what they've done for the city but Jeez, maybe it's time for them to divest the Sabres. They could not run a worse hockey organization for 8 years running IF THEY TRIED! Those other owners,,, Regier, Golisano...they weren't even trying hard to have a good club and they were in the playoffs often enough. Pegula's? They can't get out of last place. ugh. -
Dre Allen a highly touted recruit has now asked for his release from UB. The Bulls lived the dream. Now they are just going back to being another mid major school like all the rest

I was bummed too. I would have driven to Hartford w/ my son to watch the first weekend. Or if they had been placed in the East bracket and advanced, the Sweet 16 would be in my backyard in DC. Getting placed in Tulsa and potentially Anaheim is a bit rough on the travel budget. Overall though, I agree it's a favorable bracket. Some people say Texas Tech is a bad match-up, but maybe UB is a bad match-up for them?!?

I like Botts,, but if he sticks with Housley after this season I will begin to question him. It's not working. Phil coached the team to dead last place last season and they weren't supposed to be that awful. This year's club has a nice core of players and he's coaching them into the toilet...again. Whatever his tactics are,,scheme, strategy, etc.. is not working. He doesn't have the ability to push the right buttons. Geez, even Lehner and O'Reilly leave this staff and suddenly they get mentally "right" again. After the season, find a new coach..and get a better goaltender too. Our goalies get outplayed by the opponents goalie way too often. I have some hope for Linus that he will improve in the future. Yes, defense too...but they will have to get a new coach to get the D corrected I think.
-
The team is soft and has no proven coach/system to rely on when things go South. Yes they don't score enough, and yes the D is bad at coverage,,,,,but the goaltenders the past two seasons have been really disappointing. They stole some games in the 10 game streak but then it just stopped. I still contend that Buffalo has more talent on their team, top to bottom, than some other clubs that are in playoff positions. They need to reset with a new coach. Sorry Phil, love ya for your history while playing in Buffalo but he's not a good head coach for this team.
-
I agree with this. I didn't want Phil back after last season but understood why they needed to give him more of an opportunity after getting Dahlin, Skinner and building up the roster. But it just isn't working. Last year was deplorable. And I don't know of an unproven head coach (like Housley) that can go from that....to making the playoffs in the ultra-competitive East. Maybe Phil will get another chance with another club, but i doubt he will be here a 3rd season assuming they miss the playoffs. I don't know what it is about the Sabres. They have good players...arguably a more talented roster than teams like Carolina, Montreal and the Islanders.. but they just don't employ a real proven system, and lacking a big time goaltender. I feel bad for guys like Reinhart, Eichel, Risto, etc,, They are missing the playoffs year after year in the prime of their careers. I'm sure they will want outta here within a season or so

The Phantom Hold and why the NFL is dying
zow2 replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The refs in football call too many penalties that they *THINK* they see. It's really hard to tell in real time with the speed of the game. Therefore coaches should be able to challenge holding, PI, and some other stuff that they currently cannot challenge. I personally don't care if the games take 4 hours or whatever. Football is only a once a week game. I don't care if it gets bogged down by challenges. Just get it right. -
Well she probably feels bad that she put a stake directly into the heart of Deondre Francois' career. But there's been enough red flags around this guy since he came to FSU... where there's smoke there's fire.

That is outstanding news. I like Coach L, overall he has done an excellent job.
