It was great to see Shakir get some action, a lot of us have been wondering why they rarely targeted him. He's good, and he showed it. Gabe showing up was great as well and of course Kincaid. Diggs is still the main man of course, but when Allen tries to force it to Diggs on 3rd and medium lately it's not working out as well. Fortunately late in the game they hit on a critical 3rd down play to keep the clock moving. As mentioned, not slamming it in for a TD and going shotgun was awful. Allowing TB to convert all those 4th downs late and the stupid penalties. And the leaving the door open for an opponent to steal a win on the last play is maddening. The coverage on the hail mary was the worst I've ever seen from an NFL team. If Godwin turns around half second sooner, its over. Ball game. Even ESPN had a breakdown this morning on how that pass was almost completed and the incompetence of the Bills.

That was awful. Seemed like all the defenders had their back to the ball that was in the air. Nobody was tracking the ball to knock it down. Godwin was right there. Had he turned around 1 second sooner it’s TD and game over. Practice that McDermott!

That final pass was so dumb. how come no Bills were even looking at the ball? Also, McDermott should fine the two guys who had consecutive holding penalties on 4th Qtr punt returns. those cost them points i’m sure. i’ll take the W. some strange stuff. this team is just struggling to put anyone away. i think we lose this game to about 20 other teams. Tampa is not good.

Obviously the over-thinking and low key vibe is not helping in the first half, when things are more calm and scripted. When Josh enters crisis mode in the 4th Qtr, when there is no time to think....he just plays the game on instincts and makes some great plays. While watching Mahomes and Allen putt out, Brady was telling Rodgers that they need to plant some doubt into Josh Allen's head. Tampa is going to hit on a bomb or two...or at least get a very long DPI or multiple DPI's that result in easy scoring drive(s). Yeah I saw him run harder than in past games (at least that's what it looked like on TV). Was shocked he broke some tackles on one really impressive run. Hoping to see more of that this week.

Weather looks warm and decent for Thurs night. A far cry from Sunday afternoon which is forecast for mid 40's and a cold rain. If the Bills win I'll give credit to the nicer weather...., if the Bills lose I will blame the nicer weather that gave a Florida team a break.

How come the Bills can't overcome injuries like some other good teams in recent years. I get it, you cannot replace Milano or Tre, but others can step and play well enough to keep things under control. The Bills still had Allen, Diggs and most of the offense intact recently.

I respectfully disagree. Often times I've seen the exact situation I described dictate a poor first half for the deferring team. And that's 50% of the game.

The absolute killer is when you defer, kickoff, and the other team converts several 3rd downs and goes on a long drive. I hate when that happens in home games especially. By the time you get the ball back, there's 6:30 left in the first Qtr or something. Being down 7-0 or 3-0 is less than ideal in those situations. This Bills defense right now struggles on 3rd downs.

Just to point to another games, the Ravens won the toss vs Detroit and TOOK the ball. They wanted to set a tone and rammed it in for a 7 play drive opening TD.

It's a week to week league. Brock Purdy had his crowning moment game in 2023 vs Dallas a few weeks ago. Much like Josh Allen had his vs. Miami. Defensive coordinators will scheme to take away whatever worked, and these QB's/OC's have to be smarter. Most of the DC's will allow the shorter stuff. Everyone knows that long drives are harder to finish. Fumbles, INTs, failed 3rd and 4th down conversions, penalties, sacks, tipped passes, etc..
