Well I can tell you where you can't watch it; Stooge TV. Apprently the NFL caught up with them and the site is gone. Too bad as that site had very good picture quality, no buffering, etc.

I figured I was off by a letter or two but didn't realize it was that bad. Hey I'll just act like most people today in the "Never my fault" group and say it's not my fault he has a name so hard to spell. Let him change his name to Smith! -
Is the decision to fire Jauron out of Wilson's hands?

Definitely agree GM is the most important position in sports. Look at how many teams over the years were terrible, they keep gpong through coaches and players all because they have a bad front office. The nthey get a good GM and all of a sudden they are good. A few examples, Giants were terrible until they brought in George Young, Mets until they brought in Fred Cashen, The bills until Polien, Colts until Polien (a pattern is developing) Islanders with Bill Torry in 70's, Atlanta Braves keep winning every year, though never quite win it all, but still their GM has brought in many good players, San Antonio and Suns keeps winning almost every year, Canadians back in the 70's with Sam Pollick I think was the GM's name And who was their coach of all those successful teams Bowman, But he wants to play GM, so he comes to Bufflol, rebuilt the team, they improved some, but they were never great, so then rebuilt a second time, and again never did great. Finally they dumped him. GM is important, more than most people think. -

I don't think the Bills are any different than half the teams in the league regarding QB play. There aren't 32 good QB's in the league so many teams are in the continual recycling program. If you look at all the teams in the league over the past 5 years, you'll find half the teams either have been recylcing hooking to find the next Joe Montana or have some one decent, not great, but figure he's good enough for now (see Chad Peddington with Jets) Of the top of my head, here's the teams I'd put in that group: Bills, Jets, Miami, Balt, Cleve, Jax, Houston, Tenn, KC, Oak, Wash, Tampa, NO (prior to getting Brees), Minn, Det, Chi, Az, and SF That's 18. Then you have the teams that have a QB who was excepted to do well out of College and for the most part has done well; at this point, I'd put both Manning brothers in there, Brees, Rivers, McNabb, It was so long ago, but out of college, I don't recall much expected of Farve?, Rothesburger, Palmer(done OK), Maybe Cutler though to early for certain. Thats 8 more Then you have the teams who are pretty well set at QB, but with a guy who basically came out of no where and wasn't expected to do much; Brady, Romo, Farve, Warner, Maybe I'd put Bugler and Delome in this group too however it's debateable calling both of them big sucesses, There's another 6. For that reason alone, I don't think you give up on TE yet as he has looked to good in some games to write him off. If it were easy to find a replacement, then great, but as hard as it is to find anyone, you ned to stick with QB's longer. Why is it so hard? My opinion is the game has become to fast and players too big to expect anyone to be able to mentally process the required information fast enough to execute a play successfully the majority of the time. Many of these guys have the physical skills but just can't mentally handle the game. JP, Culpepper, Jeff George, (any QB who's played for Oakland in past 20 years with the exception maybe of Gannon) are a couple names that come to mind but there are many others. Then there are players mentally sharp but lack the physical skills such as Peddington, Flute Garcia. Usually what does them in is arm strength. These guys usually can stick around longer as they don't lose games for teams as much so coaches put up with them longer and try to buid a team around them. In college the competition isn't as good, so these guys can look good, but once they reach the NFL, they go down the tubes. Likely Tim Tebow will be the next college success to go down the tubes in the NFL, though many people don't expect much of him so will be tought to call him a bust whatever he does. I think what the NFL needs to do is develop a "Stepford Wives" program for super bio QB's. Just change the sexes, though it might make the game more entertaining to watch QB's with big hooters. -

All those players were brought in signed by Levy, can't fault Brandon on those. Every team in the league overpays for free agents. If you don't overpay you'll get no one. The problem the Bill's have is RW isn't willing to throw good money after bad when one of these guys don't work out so the Bills tend to be more stuck with them. Other teams may tend to sign someone else to replace their last mistake. The Bill's need to hit home runs more than most teams. While I agree a top notch GM will likely hit more home runs, it's really up to the scouts more than the GM, so having Brandon IF you have a good scouting department is still OK. I also don't think even the best GM's hit that many more home runs than the Bill's average, but again, they have the ability to spend more money to cover up their mistakes. And again to build through the draft, you need top scouts. -
True, I wasn't arguing that you need to spend to the cap, but my point was it's OK to be a meddler if you're a free spender. It's alot easier to take a Jerry Jones or a Snyder whne they keep stuffing money in your pocket.

Someone stated in another thread that the Bills policy is they never release any details on coaches contract extensions. Don't know if the Bills are unique in that regard or do most teams follow a similar path?? Not arguing right or wrong, just stating what was stated. (by a stater) Now I've stated it! -

Yes JP's game was much worse than what TE did agaisnt Miami and the Jet's. I'll grant you the other three games TE was as bad as JP, but those two games, excuding the turnovers, he played well, moved the ball, got first downs etc. And there was no one else doing anything offensively, no running game, poor blocking. So I really can't fault TE in those two as no one else did anything and TE did do many things right. TE also had five strong games where he looked real polished. JP even when he won, hardly ever played a strong game. The best game I can recall JP playing where he had pretty close to a complete all around good game was last year agaisnt the Bengels. In some other games JP had maybe 75 yards or so. TE may not be the answer, he may be one to look good one week and terrible the next, but no one knows that yet. For those of you who claim to be smart enough to know he's not the answer, the odds are in your favor as there are many more failures than sucesses at QB in the NFL. All his poor games were agaisnt 3-4's. Does that mean he'll never learn how to play agaisnt a 3-4 or will it just take more time, don't know. Most of the losses, he also had some starters out with injuries. The Bill's have an OK starting lineup, but as soon as anyone gets hurt, there's little depth. So it takes very little for him to look bad. As he gains more experience, then maybe if a couple players are out he can still handle it. Or maybe not, only time will tell. TE has looked to strong some weeks to right him off yet at a position that there exists a shortage of qualified starters in the NFL. So until you give him enough time to determine for certain, you don't give up as good QB's are a rarity in the league. -
The problem isn't the lack of camara's and microphones. It's the lack of cash. RW pays a decent amount of money on players, but he's certainly not a free spender. You can take meddling alot better when the owner keeps bothering you about spending more money on players and other things.

Yes Mort is right, 50%of the people posting on this board state the same thing. It's OK for use ot say it, but not him as he's an outsider. Its the same as it's OK for you to tell people your sister is ugly, but don't let the neighbor say that. The only time it may work out better is occasionally when a new QB comes to a decent team, then they can develop faster. Ideally the smart thing to do would be have some old re-tread at QB build the team around him, then when you have all the other pieces in place, you dump him and bring in the young stud. Even then, it may take him two years. In a way that's kind of the Bills' problem, they have a decent team just looking at their starters. No team can afford 22 pro bowl caliper players anyway. Out of 22 starting players, there are maybe four I'd like to improve on TE, C, DE and OLB. But once any of the starters get hurt (which they did) there's little depth here. The yare still in that improving mold.

And JP would likely tell the Bills' thanks for letting me play these past four games and showcase my talents. Now that I showed how good I really can play I'll likely get much better offers as a FA. As far as your extention offer goes, you can take that and shove it as after everything that has happened, there's no way I'm sigining it. At that point the season is over, he can't get hurt playing more, so absolutely no reason for him to sign with the Bill's. Why can't people get this. If you're a big fan of JP and want to root for him, you better plan on following some other team next year as he won't be here.

Why I Gave Up on the Bills for 2008
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to StupidNation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Evens wanted Losman last year. At the point JP was yanked, Evans was still a nobody himself. And are you a doctor? I can't recall a player leaving the sideline of a game unless he's hurt beyond the point of being able to play again. What if JP suddenly got hurt? TE likely would have gone back in as he could still play. From what is being stated now, he may not play next week, so I think this cover up theory is total BS. I'm certain he did have a pulled or strained groin. How bad it was on Sunday, no one exactly knows, but likely was bad enough that was somewhat effecting his play, so they pulled him, but in an emergency, he could have gone back in. -
I certainly agree the holdout hurt big time, but what should the Bill's have done different, cut Peter's to prove a point? I really can't blame the Bill's management on either of these as I think they took a rather agressive stand. The only thing you possibly could argue in the Peters case, maybe some free spending team would have given him a new contract last spring so he never would have held out. But the Bill's I think did the right thing in both situations.

Predict the coaching carousel.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BrooklynBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'ts possible the one job Holmgren may give up his year off for is San Fran as I hear that's where he's from. Supposedly he was asked early in the year would you change your "year off" plans for the San Frna job and he didn't say no he wouldn't. Ryan, Singletary, even Garrett; your getting another guy with no or limited experience. No BS is nice, but that only will work so long. Interestingly the Giants finally won when TC mellowed out some. Sad to say, but athletes today won't put up with the no nonsence approach. -
Clearly in the NE and Cleve game TE looked real bad. Howwever I really can't blame him for the Jet's and Miami loss as he was the teams entire offense. There was no running game at all. He did move the team up and down the field, was able to get first downs, just no TD's. But with no running game at all hard to blame a 2nd year QB who did have what 280 yards passing.
-
Mike Williams had better experience as a DC when he was hired by the Bills than Garratt does right now. In fact you probably could make the same arguement for MM too when he was brought in. Garrett may be good, but if so he'd be bucking the odds as more great coordinators look terrible as coaches, particuarly in their first HC opportunities. There have been some first time successes; Cowler, Parsells come to mind, but many more failures. Also seems like these days there are becoming less successes than years back. In the past ten years, what coordinators became good head coaches in their first job?
-
The problem is any poster on this board would suit up for the Bills next week for free for "The love of the Game". Pro atletes don't have that feeling. Everyone today laughs and jokes on the sideline while down by 20. The only time you see real emotion is when a team gets knocked out of the playoffs. Maybe the difference is today all the way down to Little League, Pop Warner, it's stressed that winning doesn't matter. Many youth leagues don't even keep score anymore. So maybe this is just partly a product of that generation now playing professionally
-
So who would you suggest instead? (unless you're serious about the advantages of the Bills not being in the playoffs) The bills have two choices, bring in some young no name who does actually have the ability to be a huge sucess in their first go around as a HC. Cowler, Gruden, Parsells are a couple of names that come to mind that succeeded in their fist HC job. But many others failed including none other than Belichick. Can also add to the list: DJ (with the Bears) MW MM both here, Pete Caroll, and a whole string of others. So you can take a chance on getting that special someone, but the odds are against you. The other option is to bring in an experienced guy. Considering RW hasa reputation as a meddling owner who doesn't like paying coaches much money, I think Marty may be about the highest profile guy you'd ever be able to hire here. And that's assuming he does deep down want to coach. If as mentioned he really is done, then likely the amount of money RW would offer won't get him to change his mind Regarding the meddling rumors, people have brought up Jerry Jones, and Dan Syder as arguments that coaches don't all hate meddling owners. The difference there is, you don't mind a meddler who pays you top $$ and who always has his checkbook in his hand ready to sign a check for whatever you need. Unless it's for a charity (which can't knock him there) RW seems to ask how can we do without this expense?
-
I agree it would be somewhat surprising for RW to pay off three years on a contract. However in most cases the fired coach gets hired by some other team and then RW is only on the hook for the difference between his salary as a Bill and the new teams contract. In this case RW being cheap helps as another team may pay DJ close to the same salary to be DC or DB coach, so won't be the full shot. Would DJ get a coaching offer. Most likely he would as he likely may be one of the many who are good coordinators and position coaches but bad HC. Also these guys love to coach so for him to sit out three years would be too much for him and after three years, he'd become somewhat forgotton. I doubt he'd ever get a job on TV as he doesn't exactly have the personality for that.

Why was JP Losman in the game?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to dtgolder's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah but this gives people the ability to argue that they were right about whichever one they said would be good. It's all about proving they were right, nothing else matters. And BTW, I don't think this really is anything unique to Bills fans. Every message board around sufferes from the same thing of people needing to prove themselves smarter than everyone else. When you factor in a sports theme and add plenty of testostorone, it's a recipe for a fight. One of these days you'll read a headline on the news about someone killing somebody about a disagreement on a message board. Doubt it will happen here as as bad as it is, people in western NY still are good people at heart. I'd place my money on California. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And how do you know this to be true?? Granted he didn't play a good first half, which may have been due to an injury. But they still were only ten points behind and should have been less, so hard to believe he'd bench TE who had no int's. It may likely have been a minor thing and TE would tell you he could have played through it. However he did miss abunch of passes so maybe DJ felt was do to him favoring it, so yanked him. No idea, but also no that no one has any idea that it was faked either.
