Hire the K State coach! I want to see his wife in Buffalo on a regular basis!
-
Really who is that person?? I doubt there is anyone worth that hig ha pick at QB. This is a dow nyear, so best bet I think is bringing in someone and using a 2nd or 3rd on a QB
-
When will he be ready to go from the injury?? If he's not ready for the first game in Sept, may be hard for the Bill's to keep him as you do need a backup for CJ who can go maybe 10 plays a game. How much will that person cost, and then what do you do when Freddy does come back? Could keep both, but then likely FJ would need to take a paycut, say two backups at one mil each. If he were completely healthy I'd say yes bring him back as the backup. Not so certain if not ready to go the first game.

Yeah, but why wasn't he able to figure that out himself in Chi and hire a good OC? I agree of all the names being floated, he's probably the safest and would definitely be an upgrade, but he does worry me some. He also had a decent QB in Chi, a bit of a flack, but could play. Even if the Alex Smith rumors are true, not sure how would work with Lovie. I will say this a slightly conservative HC would wants to run the ball alot wouldn't be the worst considering we have Spiller and a better than average O-line. Chip Kelly would make the biggest splash, but is risky whether his style will work in the NFL or will be like Spurrier and Saban and leave after one to two years. Guys like McCoy, Horton could be the next Tomlin or the next Greg Williams

Bills coach search update

I'm OK with #2 ,3, or 4. Cowher at this point,I think he's been gone too long and I'd really question whether he still has the desire. Which could explain who hardly anyone has interviewed him. Wouldn't surprise me to see him never coach again. Gruden supposedly has made it known he wants to coach again, you don't hear that from Cowher. -
Thank you Chan Gailey.

Dropped passes, agree not his fault. Fitz inaccuracy, yes he is to blame as he continued to put Fitz in that position to throw the passes when he should have tried to minimize the exposure to that. -
What this FO doesn't get!

I was listening to Sal Pal the other day n the radio and he feels interest in Reid is cooling off. He's not all that he's made out to be was the take on it. Once he lost Jim Johnson on Defense he was helpless. There were a couple of other points he made which I don't recall, but basically said hasn't won since Johnson died. So he certainly wasn't recommending Reid as the answer to everyone's dreams. At this point Cowler may be gone too long to really have the fire anymore for the job. From what you've heard over the years, Buffalo may have had the longest talk with him so after all these years makes me question if he's really interested. Gruden you hear rumors that he's spread the word, he wants to coach again, where as you don't hear that about Cowler at all. -
Mike Zimmer? He gets no love?

Compounding that is he was an assistant for so long. How come no HC job?? Makes me wonder if there's a reason, maybe it's this "honesty" thing?? -
The one thing Chip Kelly gives you is headlines. It would show the world that what was stated yesterday at the PC is is really not just lip service. Big question is if C Kellys system would work in the NFL. That is a huge unknown.

The question that wasn't asked yesterday
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the past couple of years it was the opposite, he wasn't doing anything, but was still viewed as being in charge and needed his blessing. It was like steering a rudderless ship as they say. Prior to that, he was too involved. Kind of ironic, but I do feel the Bill's went from too far in one direction to too far the other way in a few short years. -

So if they cleaned house then what?? I've heard two names thrown out for the GM spot, the guy from Atlanta Cardwell I believe was the name. He and Whaley share one big thing in common, you have no clue about either of them how they will handle being the guy now. Atlanta has drafted well, but does that mean Cardwell will be great for the Bill's. Using that logic you could argue that G Williams and MM both came from successful organizations as did TD in Tenn and Pitt, but neither worked out very well. The other name is Bill P. Well his drafts the last few years haven't been all that great, in fact you could argue most of his success came prior to free agency and when he didn't get to draft Peyton Manning. If we had cleaned house we'd all be drooling over signing a guy like Whaley as the GM Would I have preferred they can BN, sure, though still not all that convinced it won't happen in May anyway but whether Whaley takes over or someone else, in about three years afterwards you'll know if they made a good choice and theres as much chance of it being good or bad whether it was Whaley or someone else. -
Good God!!! This has to rank as one of the dumpest posts of all time and there's been many in the last couple of weeks. As they say about Monday morning QB's it's real easy to read his comments and somehow find something to pick apart about them. As opposed to he's asked a question and he gives an answer off the cuff. Maybe he should require all questions be submitted to him 24 hours in advance so he can analyze his responses to the exact word, may sure he gets any pauses in the right spot too.

I agree, GM contracts expire May 1st, so could very likely see that happening A very telling thing will be to see if Doug Whaley has any interviews with other teams over the next month. If he doesn't, that indicates to me the transition is sooner rather than later. -

Explain to me how how you know what the draft board exactly looked like?? So you know for a fact that Whaley didn't have Wilson higher?? Scouts can set the draft board but ultimately it's the GM who makes the final call on whom to take when. So you could get rid of Whaley and bring in someone else new whom you really have no idea about. The Bill's brought in Whaley a couple years back to be the heir apparent to BN, now he's getting that shot. If his next three look terrible then it was a mistake, but that's the same identical risk you have with anyone you bring in. RB has a good business mind and appears to know how to be a good manager, that's what the CEO needs to do. Make sure people make smart decisions. The problem was the last time he was in this role in a similar way, you had a clueless GM in Marv Levy who didn't appear to want to make any decisions. His style which he publicly stated was "consensus" So you had Marv and DJ trying to agree on who to draft or sign, more than likely RB went along with what those two wanted. -

Do we really know that to be the case?? Even when TD had a similar position Littman and what's the other guys name Overdolf were still in the same role as today. -

Name me one company or organization where the guy at the top is an expert in everything. You could argue why would any company be stupid enough to put a technical guy like Bill Gates over seeing the marketing department. The company I work for has a CEO who's an engineer by trade, but our ultimate business is selling a product. It's no difference than RB new position, yes he's in charge of football operations, but seriously doubt he'll be running the draft board. -

OK well that's what I thought, but in the context it was being used, didn't seem to make much sense to mean that. I suppose it goes back to what a HS geography teacher once said about he f word. It's amazing in that people use it al lthe time as a noun, verb, adverb, adjective, and whatever else those things were called when you diagrammed sentences in English 101. I wonder if they now diagrammed text messages in HS english?? -

What's the difference at this point whether the GM reports to Brandon or to RW?? Neither is a football mind. At this point it appears RW is kind of out of things and other than top level things like firing the coach RW is not involved much. And give it another 6 t o12 months the way he appears to be going, it could be even much less. I seriously don't think RB is going to be making the draft picks, that will fall to the GM. Will he have input as to how much to pay a coach or GM yes, though that would likely need RW blessing anyway. Assuming it is announced that BN is staying as GM, if DW doesn't get any interviews for an open GM spot, that tell me that BN isn't long for the current job. GM contracts expire May 1st, I think BN sticks around til lthen, then announces he is going into semi retirement as a scout. Or maybe they will even announce that part today. -

Bills Should Hire Frank Reich
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BuffaloBillsFan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd have no problem bringing him in as some position coach, OC, that may be a stretch. HC I'd rather have CG or DJ as at least they've done the job. But ultimately it will be up to whomever is the next HC. -
Based on how quickly things happened today which is not typical for the Bill's, usually requires meeting with RW to get canned, CG postponing his presser til 3, did the Bill's like they did with DJ tell CG maybe a month or so ago that he was done year end. But unlike DJ, he elected to finish out the season?? Wouldn't surprise me that was the case.

Zimmer worry's me some in that after 43 years why hasn't anyone ever made him a HC? It worries me that there may be a reason for it. I don't know how old he is, but if he's bee ncoaching for 43 years is no spring chicken. I think I'd prefer someone younger, and up and coming guy.
