  1. And you know this how?? Do you have inside information?? I'm assuming no, and that your rational for your statement is that you didn't hear any stories about the Bill's making offers. OK fair argument, but also fair to say that in most cases rarely do teams make statements either way, about progress or lack there of. Most often the leaks come from agents trying to push something. The other reasonable argument is there's no sense making an offer when miles apart. Maybe the Bill's did make an intial offer was countered with something still miles apart, so the Bill's figured wait until he either comes down in price to what they felt was a reasonable amount, or if he can get that amount of money, great for him, but we're not over paying. It's kind of like when buying a house, there are a number of houses in the neighborhood selling for say $200k. There's one house you saw, it's a little nicer than the others, maybe worth $215 or so, but the owner is asking for like $260. so you offer $210, hoping that if they were to come back at say $225, you're close and can probably work it out. But instead, they come back with $255. At that point, you probably put them on ignore and move on, maybe hoping they will get reasonable, but you're not going to overpay either. You also don't know what he asked from the Bill's, what they countered with and compare that against what he eventually signed for. Teams will never let that out, but would be interesting to see. But when you have a coach that knows he has to win that year or likely be fired, you roll the dice and keep the players. Going into training camp last year with the off-season moves they made, it was a reasonable argument that the Bill's may have made the playoffs or at least had been in the mix, so again you don't trade players like AL when you as a team think you are close to making playoffs for draft picks which is likely the best thing you'd get as opposed to players. Assuming Al wanted out of Buffalo as was tired of the losing, all of a sudden you make the playoffs or come real close, maybe you demands drop as you decide staying here may be a good thing as the team appears to have turned the corner. That could also support the argument that he made a crazy high offer figuring Buffalo wouldn't agree, he plays out the year and see how the team does. If they do well, his price comes down to a reasonable amount and resigns, if not then easy to move on.
  2. Hell he barely had time to register.
  3. So here I am down in North Carolina and not anyplace to go for decent wings. That is one thing I miss from up there. I also miss Ted's and Andersons
  4. Will it work with TWC, sure the difference though is TWC may offer you a 5% discount where as DTV may give you a 75% discount or even more. I'm guessing that DTV has figured out once you've gone to satelite, likely you're house is still wired for cable so very easy to go back so they bend over backawards t omake sure you don't leave. If you never had satelite service more of a hassle getting it the first time, where to locate dish relative ot where TV's are located can sometimes be dificult. (I will not let DTV run cables on the outside of my house) So TWC tends to view themselves as the only game in town and in some respects is true, so they won't give as great deals. The biggest issue I have with TWC is the rental price of their equipment, and not nearly as good. $20 a month for TWC whole house DVR and that only give you a recorder with two tuners and can handle around 20 hours of HD
  5. I liked using it watch an extra game, would have the TV on with maybe the Bills game, but then on computer would have a second one on.
  6. I'm watching hope Christian Ponder makes it as a QB as working in the media don't think he has much future. Interviewing the coach of Florida International and his wife who BTW is a model if you recall. Christian implies being in LA, all she must have done was gone shopping.
  7. The genie is 1TB, but whats the plain Jane HD DVR hard drive size?
  8. So after calling the other night, being a hold for 45 minutes, best offer I got was $180 for ST max, so canceled the other night. So called back today, got offered $148 for ST Max, plus asked for a mini Genie which I wanted. To the above post the Mini Genie is used if you have a second outlet/TV it gives full DVR function and the ability to pause or rewind live TV whereas currently I had a HD receiver on the 2nd TV so couldn't rewind etc and there's also some limitations in the recording process like deleting or recording a series. The mini should be better I hope! I did have to agree to a new two year commitment which extended my contact by around 15 months longer than I originally had so for doing that they also gave me a $20 credit for 12 months and a $15 credit for 15 months. She then offered instead of sending me the mini Genie she'd send me another HD DVR which is better as the mini uses one of the five tuners in the Genie, so now instead will have a total of seven tuners in the house and an extra 20 hours of recording space or so. I'm guessing the mini's are in high demand so she'd prefer sending me the DVR. I often was using four of the Genie tuners at once, so this will assure I never run out of tuners. Probably could have maybe got something better, but I'm happy with this. At least until next summer when I have to do this all over again! I do think dealing with these guys can sometimes be more aggravating than buying a car! I hate this game of playing "Lets make a deal"!! PS Does anyone know what the recording capacity of the HD DVR is, assuming all HD recordings??
  9. I called and after going back and forth three times, she offered me that too $180 for the max, but I turned it down, told her I'm interested but much cheaper. She said OK I'll note that on your record "want it a little cheaper" to which I repleid, no I said I want it alot cheaper. So as of now I've canceled it will see what happens. When I first called I immediately spoke the word cancel service, not sure if that took me to the retention department or not, was I still speaking with the first line of people? So am wondering, will they call me back to try and get me to subscribe or is it on me to contact them again? What I'd like is somewhere between $100 to $150 and a mini Genie thrown in. Will see what happens. Why do I seem to alwasys get the hard asses on the phone when I call who don't offer much. I'm in year two of original contract, so am still getting some discounts, which supposedly makes them less likely to offer more, but also am still under contract, so can't totally dump them either. Probably I'm not in the best bargining position overall.
  10. To me this is the most blatant attempt at trying to win votes from people. You can't change the rules after the fact. You want to make that a new law, from now on if you take money, no blackouts, great, I have no problem with that. But when the state handed RW and other owners the checks, there weren't any conditions related to blackouts, so now after he has the money, you want to add rules retroactive. So who thinks if the when the state handed RW the check and if they had told him no more blackouts, he would have accepted it. Even if he wanted to to, the league would have prevented it. More than likely he would have handed the check back and said I'll call you from LA. Do I like blackouts, no, is it fair, probably not, but suggesting to change the rules after the fact is a joke. I hope for his sake he stays in politics a long time as I'd hate to see him practicing on the outside. I recall around 15 years ago, a state senator from Rochester, Dollenger I think it was was pushing the same point. He was on the Bob Matthews show talking about it, funny it was an election year too. I called up afterwards and said the same thing now, you can't change the rules after giving them the money. In May, the 2008 presidential nominee introduced a bill that would prohibit the league from blacking out games in markets in which teams have used public financing for stadium construction. "I think that's outrageous," McCain testified May 14 during a Senate subcommittee hearing. "Now, if that stadium is not taxpayer-financed, then that owner can do anything they want to. But if the taxpayers paid for them then, by God, I think the taxpayers ought to be able to see the game whether they sell out the stadium or not."
  11. I've said it for a long time, with the speed, size, and complexity of the game these days, all teams need Stepford QB's If nothing else it would likely increase viewership among the women.
  12. But that's his downfall, great coach poor at evaluating talent IMO. Anyplace he goes, does improve, but not enough to get over the top, i.e. Dallas, Miami. I also am not certian his coaching style would still work today??
  13. Looking at the pictures I think she could use some more development. Not bad looking though, if I were forced to, I wouldn't say no. All things considered it is pretty amazing step for a woman. I can women refs in basketball as girls play basketball as there are women's hockey leagues to play in, baseball/softball very similar sports. But football, that's a pretty big leap for a woman to be involved with.
  14. Well actually I'm still under my original 2 year contract, so don't have complete flexibility. Can't totally threaten to quit without cancellation fees, but can cancel ST
  15. OK in 2 hours will be June 1st. Time to start the annual 20 page thread about what kind of a deal and how much everyone got off Sunday Ticket. I'm trying to decide if better to call now and see what I get or wait until closer to season. When do they offer more? Personally I'm looking for hardware of $$ off, want a mini Genie, but will settle for both.
  16. The free agent rookie we signed. Maybe there was a reason he was free agent.
  17. Good thing this wasn't posted Jan 1! There would have been a dozen threads here advocating him to be the next head coach. would have made perfect sense.
  18. One fact is front office contracts expire May 1st. Is it this year for Nix, don't know, but it's still the logical time. Didn't Modrek go after the draft??
  19. The other big point too is the Bill's picks didn't match what Mel Kiper and company are going to say as to when players are to be drafted. All 32 teams made Mel and company look stupid by not drafting Geno Smith, or a number of other players the "experts" said would go in 1st round. Mel, Todd, etc can't stand up and say all 32 teams are clueless so the easy thing to do is to rip the teams that take players before they think they should have gone. So pile on the Bill's!
  20. I've been saying that for over six months. Front office contracts typically run through May 1st so that's another nail in the coffin.
  21. I'm sure if you were to go to the Rams message board you'll find posts that they gave up way to much. Hell it was a net minus 8 to them!!
  22. I recal lthe last time we had the Pats on bookends, shut them out here in the opener, got crushed in the last game up there. That was the year we signed Lawer Malloy like three days prior to the opener or so.
  23. I believe it was emptying the hotel mini bar Enberg isn't dead too is he? Did I miss that one? I recall in the early years Summerall was paired with Gifford on CBS Some one mentioned Brookshier, I recall him doing the old AFL games on NBC, think he did the Heidi Bowl, can't recall who he was partnered with in the late 60's, don't think it was Enberg back then
  24. Is there a date on when the regular season schedule will be released? Usually it's around the fisrt week in April I believe??
  25. Of all the people we lost, the only one worth talking about is Levitre. Yes in theory we are worse today at WR and LB than we were on Jan 1st. but we also sucked at those two positions on Jan 1st so not much of a lose
