  1. Actually Montana didn't retire, he went to KC, think he was hurt so the 49's were moved on to Young a that point and let Montana go to KC the following year. Don't recall the Owens thing??
  2. THIS!! Save $5mil on Cassell
  3. Well that's good news, then I won't have to listen to Lebetard on the way home anymore. Rarely do I have the radio on from 10am to1 as at work then. Last two days I know he wasn't on in the afternoon, think it was Ruscillo who filled in, therefore I listened to the show.
  4. Because they did agree to all this in the CBA is also is the reason why there's a good chance the Brady thing doesn't get over turned. Unless the NFLPA can prove he did things beyond the scope of the CBA, everything I've read and heard states federal judges rarely will over turn collectively bargained agreements for the reasons you state.
  5. OK, so then what do you think of Schopp and the Bulldog, do you like them? Aside from the arrogance and condescending tone which admittedly is no trivial thing, to me it's the same show, same silly non-sports related stuff on both of them. Again I don't live in western NY anymore so haven't heard Schopp in years, but when I read here about many of things he talks about, it's the same as Lebatard. And as I said, Stugotz alone isn't too bad, when he's with Lebatard is when he goes downhill fast IMO. And I'm not really knocking either of them, as I said more people prefer the lighter side of sports, but not alot that post on fan message boards as we're the diehards. Just curious since I don't live in western NY, is the Lebatard show on the air someplace there, or do you also not live there?
  6. I don't disagree, but it seems like being arrogant, talk as little as possible about sports, and have a co-host that will laugh at all your jokes is a requirement for being an afternoon sports talk radio host.
  7. I don't know about that, you certainly hear people on this site often complaining about the stupid non-sports related topics they spend hours discussing. And the reason he's so condescending all the time is he has to deal with so many poeple who are just so dumb and don't understand life like he does.
  8. Maybe Terry really didn't pay $1.4 bil for the team, he had his daughter play Mary Wilson, winner takes all!
  9. I no longer live in Western NY so for the past 8 plus years haven't had the joy of listening to Schopp anymore, when I did live there I also couldn't stand listening to him. Where I do live now, I get to hear Lebatard everyday and as far as I'm concerned he's just as bad. They are just like Schopp and the Bulldog, Stugotz laughs at all of Lebatards jokes, they have weekly segment like; Love advise from Marcellus Wiley, weekly segments with the head zookeeper from the Miami Zoo, some type of March Madness picking of movies beating other movies each week to advance. The day after the Masters they interviewed Jordan Speith, Speith mentioned he watched some movie Sunday morning, so the next five questions are all about the movie! Lebatard doesn't come off quite as condescending, but is a close second. A few weeks back Stugotz filled in for Greeny in the morning and he actually wasn't bad to listen to, once he's away from Lebatard, seems I've heard other similar comments about Bulldog too, alone he's OK. My opinion is most afternoon hosts are all geared towards the same thing, making light of sports, from their viewpoint it doesn't matter in the grand scheme. Their goal in live is to make you realize there's more to life than sports and want you to become a much more well rounded; read a book, go to a play, host a wine and cheese party, play more with your kids, watch the History channel on TV, do anything but waste time coming to sites like this or living, breathing, talking sports all the time. In the grand scheme of things, most people would tend to agree with that, but the problem is for the most part, the people that would tend to follow that lifestyle are not the people who post on this website or others like it. Those of us that come to these websites, myself included, we want 24/7 hardcore sports, and so here we all tend to rip Schopp and company My wife will often see me typing a post to this site in Feb. or March and comments, "Why are you here, the season's over" I do think the OP is in the majority in general with his views on sports and WGR, however his philosophy will have him burnt at the stake with most of us around here as we're all the hardcore fans.
  10. Was just reading how he's be a good sleeper to pick up for FF. Guess I'll cross him out!
  11. Not sure the first week would be a good time to call as DTV always gives the first week of the season free to everyone, so I'd think their stratagy would be to expect many to call and sig nup that week, so limit the discounts I've wondered this to. People have said no, but how would any of us really know. Seems like for DSL & phone service ATT (and cable) tend not to offer as many deals as DTV I called up 4 times this offseason, the third call I cancled ST, fourth call I made got me the best offer which I did take, may have nothing to do with canceling, but who knows for certain??
  12. So because Dareus yesterday said yesterday he doesn't want Suh money this is a lie?? So if he ends up with like $1mil less in your eyes does that makes Dareus's statement correct? I guess if the Bills were to offer him close to the same he'd turn it down as doesn't want to be paid that much? Not trying to defend Sully too much, but Sully is constantly ripped basically because he's not a homer and doesn't always paint a rosy picture, like any person will distort things to his liking to paint the picture he wants painted. In fact I didn't agree with most of this latest Sully article, but trying to point out this as blatant lies, well quite frankly you're no better than Sully with distorting facts to your liking, just that you like many here all hate Sully so you'll be viewed as a hero for telling it like it is. Only problem is you're telling it to a room full of people mostly all wearing the same rose colored glasses that you are wearing and they will all agree with you. The pettiness and hatred in sports fans does amaze me! Fanhood is like a holy war.
  13. Well called DTV today again for around the 4th time in past two months. Last call I made I canceled ST, maybe that helps getting better offer the next time or maybe the closer to the season, you get better offers, or just got luckier today?? I was given two offers, ST free with a one year contract, or ST Max for half off. I countered with that I'd take the one year contract if they'd give me the max free, but she told me that offer isn't available today. Does make me wonder how much leeway these agents do truly have. Do they have different offers every day, is it like buying airline tickets where if they made their sales quota for the day, you'll likely only be offered poorer deals? So I took the max for half off, after which she then offered me a one time $50 credit, so basically got ST Max for $117, not too bad, I'm happy with it. Certainly not as good of an offer as some folks have got, but not too bad either. While I have some negotiating leverage as not under contract, I also don't have any add-on's other than the DVR, and have only been with DTV for a little over three years now, not like otehrs who've been customers for 10 plus years. My whole bill is a little under $100, still have a couple of monthly discounts if I had zero discounts the total would be around $115, whereas I believe many of the people whom get the better offers may also have HBO, Center Ice, etc. which generate higher total bills I figured no contract is better as I'm not currently under any contract, so I could completely dump DTV in Jan once the football season is over. If I dump them in Jan by August the "come back to DTV" offers should be arriving every week. One of these days, I do think I'll cut the cord, two biggest reasons not to is we record almost everything we watch on the DVR (I have a 5 tuner Genie and 2 tuner HD DVR) and wouldn't want to have to start watching commercials, and where I live the local CBS station is very difficult to get without a roof antenna. I figure this winter when it cools off I may go up on roof and play with an outside antenna to see what I can get, I know some people cane get it, but takes some playing and may only be on one TV in the house. All the other stations come in great with a small attic antenna. There are two home DVRS that I'm keeping an eye on Tablo and HD Homerun. Maybe by next year I'll get the outside antenna working and try one of the DVRS' only downside is I'll spend a fair amount of money to buy all the required hardware, and it may never work all that well to want to stick with long term, so will see. Just curious, does anyone know if CBS All Access is commercial free or not? Is the Hulu premium package commercial free?
  14. I'm not so sure anymore, I think Thompson has earned a spot so it comes down to Hogan or Easley. While Hogan has struggled this summer, he was reliable in regular season games so then doing the numbers if you keep Hogan, you likely end up letting Easley go. Can Thompson play ST? If so, makes it easier to cut Easley.
  15. As for your negatives, I wouldn't be so worried about the backup O-line unless we have many injuries and they all have to play at the same time. Having two starters next to three backups, can make those back up's look much better very quickly. I'm beginning to wonder if the odd man out at WR will end up being Easley? I think Goodwin and Thompson have done enough to make the team so comes down to Hogan and Easley. While Easley has been great on ST, Hogan tended to always made the catches in the clutch.
  16. I think there was a reason EJ only played the past two games with the 2's and 3's. Going all the way back to mini camp his play from everything that's been written just wasn't as good. I think he's played better than past years, but still has enough bad plays that puts him behind. I actually think if you compare top 50% plays made by each, EJ may be i nthe lead, but whe nhe screws up, he tends to do a better job of it than the other two, and seems ot be at the worst times. I'm not an EJ hater either, I tended to defend him in the past, if they started him in the upcoming game I'd be fine with it, but this idea that they need to start him to be fair is laughable. I've heard two idea's as to why he played the entire 2nd half last night, one to try and generate trade value, and second, and this is kind of my thought to see if he's good enough for the #2 spot, and if so will dump Cassels $4.5 mil to be a #3 They know what they have in Cassel, would there be much of a drop off to EJ, if not then cut Cassel.
  17. Just ofr the fans sake? I'm pretty convinced that it did start as a fair 3-way competition, at this point, the coaches have an idea what the pecking order is. They are were given shots @ #1, now the goal is to prepare the team as best it can for the regular season, not to worry about somebody, particually the fans crying that EJ didn't get a fair shake. Maybe EJ will start, don't know, but I do know whether he does or doesn't, it has nothing to do with it not being fair. It's everything about what makes the team best.
  18. Your disapointed in a what was he, a 6th round draft pick?? I think O'leary inherited the legend of Kiko crowd, he had some flashes in mini camp everyone jumped on the bandwagon, but he was a 6th rounder for a reason!
  19. My theory as to why they played EJ was, they aren't to happy with Cassel, he's safe, won't make mistakes, but that's about it. Taylor will be the starter, so they played EJ last night to see if he's a good enough #2, if so they dump Cassels $4.5 mil contract, then use that money to make Darius happy again. Did EJ make the Bills' think they could dump Cassel, not so sure about that. EJ had some good plays, but still pelnty of EJ of old plays too. But does he give you as much as Cassel gives you, maybe??
  20. I don't know, I'm wondering if Cassel not playing tonight could be a case of lets see if EJ is good enough as the #2, if so we drop Cassel and save $4mil. Maybe what they've seen of Cassel, particularly in practice, they just aren't sure he is worth keeping as not much of a difference between him and EJ??
  21. I live on the other end of the state, but wil lsay, that's a bit of a trek from Greensboro to Charlotte!
  22. With all these guys being out a couple of weeks, could make it eaven harder to decide whom to keep and who to cut. Ideally the next two pre-seaso ngames would have helped, but now none will play.
  23. You worry about him getting hurt, but seemed like in the game he never got hit either. He may be one of these guys who's figured out how to avoid the contact.
  24. I agree about Williams, but I think it could be Fred Jackson's career that could be in jeopardy. Brown looked good, granted was against backups, but if he can stop fumbling, I think you should keep him and let Fred go. Only question I'd have is do you have another RB that can block as well as Fred, is it Dixon? Maybe it ends up coming down to deciding between Fred and Boobie?? Probably all the Freddy lovers will burn me at the steak for suggesting this, but Fred's about had it it seems.
  25. I doubt he was encouraged, but good chance he was told he'd need to make changes to his staff, get rid of Hackert, now O-line coach, maybe weren't willing to extend the contracts of his staff, etc. Add to that it sounds like he had a rather frosty relationship with Whaley, gave him 4 million reasons to leave.
