  1. I thought the same thing. Don't know if any teams are desperate enough but if they offered a 2nd or 3rd, would consider it. I'd even make it a package deal Flynn and Tuel for a 1st.
  2. I'll predict it's just a matter of time before they outlaw tailgating at games. It does bring in alot of money to the beer sponsers but people start drinking at 8:00 in the morning, nine hours later, you can be pretty wasted. Obviously they can't stop what goes on in private lots, though not sure how many other cities even have the private lots within walking distacne like RW does. I know someone mentioned they put fences up on the east side where the valley is, thy could expand that to make it even more difficult to get to stadium. Or require these private lots to have permits and part of permit process is no alcohol. It does seem to be getting worse every year.
  3. The announcers said the same forward progress is away from the end zone so in getting pushed back, he was actually being pushed forward. If he had somehow broke free he could have kept going too.
  4. I noticed today he was back to holding for the kicker. Was this the fist game he was the holder? Didn't think he was holding last week?? And trying to recall who the prior holder was, Tuel??
  5. You also just saw an undrafted QB outplay a 1st rounder who also has been in the league for two years or is it three. Granted he's only played one game, but that's only four less than Manual too. But more importantly, a couple of years on the sidelines, practices, film viewing etc, you learn alot. You're also talking about a guy who graduated from Duke in three years, so he's no dummy.
  6. That's the way every team in every sport operates. They hire who they know as likely that means they share the same philosophies. Refresh my memory, what was the connection between Brandon/Whaley and Marrone??
  7. Wasn't Stevie Johnson a 7th rounder?? Granted many times late round picks don't work out, that's why they are late rounders. But on occasion you do find the diamond in the rough. So they are good for that chance. Would you be better off trading those picks, well the other side of it is in most cases the player you are getting is no better than these late rounders. The one exception is when you find a team that by some luck has a surplus of players at a certain position. Then you can sometimes get a decent player in return. But just as late round picks becoming stars, good/serviceable players being traded are just as rare.
  8. Could be that yes Byrd felt he was ready to go, may have been a bit of wanting to showcase on national TV. Could he have played yes, was he completely ready, questionable?? I doubt the Bill's would have looked all that better with a rusty and out of game shape Byrd, likely would have only played half the snaps. May not have wanted to waste a roster spot wit ha thin secondary on a guy that may only give you half the plays. So you sit him for an extra ten days and let him get into better playing shape. OR May be they didn't feel he'd likely make a big difference in the game due to rustiness, so hold him out while healthy and maybe they seriously plan to trade him over next ten days. You see it often in baseball, a player is rumored to be traded and they hold him out of lineup. Football that usually doesn't happen but there are a couple of unique circumstances here. a) Byrd hasn't played all year anyway and this is a short week of practice so holding him out isn't changing anything from what they've done all year. b) Ten day layoff gives him extra time to get into game shape. c) Trade him while he's healthy, if he had played and got nicked up, would be much tougher to get a deal made. If he's traded within the next 10 days, then likely that was why he was held out. Could even be they have a deal in the works, butthe other team doesn't want to make deal until after this Sundays games.
  9. I'm on vacation and will be staying in a non-football loving house over the weekend. I know I can watch ST on computer for afternnon games, but am wondering if on Sunday night, can I stream the game from NBC.com and watch it live on computer?? Or other options??
  10. I'm waiting to see this Sunday what happens in the Philly game. Will Chip Kelly keep the peddle to the metal when it means putting Peyton Manning right back on the field. This could be interesting. People accuse Marone of being stubborn, lets see how this one goes.
  11. I recall years back when I was injured talking with physical therapist about braces. She discouraged it as her feeling was by wearing a brace the joint doesn't get as strong. Not comparing myself to an NFL player, but still the same reasoning. Seems I recall hearing about situation where they make the players wear them for practice only but not in games, thinking is they don't lose the mobility in games but still protect themselves in practice.
  12. I wonder if they'd try and make some type of trade Byrd for a good quality guard. The Bill's don't have much leverage, so anyone who thinks the Bill's should be returned an all pro guard since Byrd is all-pro are mistaken. Once Oct 18th hit,s can't trade him Bill's only choice then is watch him walk or franchise him for 125% of top salary which don't think he's worth anywhere near that. He's not Ronny Lott!
  13. It may be the coaching staffs thoughts here are that yes it's hurting him now, but once he settles down, may take all year, having run the hurry up he'd be ahead in the long run. Though could argue let him run this year at a normal pace, in the off season instill the hurry up for next year once EJ has more experience.
  14. Wow Giants coach, Tom C has to be going nuts, six sacks by Carolina on Eli a;ready, Giants intercept down on the Carolina 20, 1st down Wilson runs it in for TD, but called back for a penalty, second down another sack, kick a field goal from 20 and kicker misses.
  15. Exactly, there's been one sack, how bad is Brown really doing?? No team can afford five all pro's, one weak player you can get away with. Guy I'm playing in a fantasy league has Eli, wish we had minus points for sacks right now!
  16. Down here in Carolina, watching the Panthers Giants game, Giants are making the Bill's line look like a Super Bowl team, Eli has already been sacked three times in the first eight minutes or so.
  17. I had seen part of that article where he thanked everyone, but not the whole thing including the part about not traveling. Well at least we know the status. Thanksfor posting
  18. So EJ has been sacked once in two games, CJ ran for 100 yards this week and Freddy ran well in both games. Somehow hard to believe the line struggled. Would they have been better with AL, sure, but no team can or has 5 top notch lineman on their team. You can get by with one or even two not so great if you have others around him that are above average. I think between Woods, Glenn who are both maybe in the top 20% and Ubrick maybe top 50%, you can afford to have a weak spot. Yes that was the going price, assuming he was willing to sign here. As was pointed out, he made it known he wanted to test the waters. How do you know the Bill's didn't make an offer like this BTW? I know it wasn't posted here so then it couldn't have happened.
  19. I've seen it done before, not alot, but some. How do you know he didn't know the rule? They may have still been willing to take a chance on one last play, though admittedly I would have rather seen more of a pooch kick over the first line of players, so if the ball were downed, would be too far for a hale Mary to reach the endzone.
  20. I recall hearing about ten years or so that once a play is completed it takes 16 seconds to get to the line, get set and run another play. Likely that is influenced by length of play too. Even spiking the ball takes at least one additional second, so would have been close, at best there may have been time for one play. Thinking about it some more, I'd give a 50/50 shot that SJ would have done a first down celebration that wasted at least five seconds.
  21. I get what you're saying, agree wit hthe concept though not sure I'd put Easley in there. He's looked very good at LIMITED times, but has missed two years due to injury. Whereas don't recall Beebe ever having a wow moment, so I do agree with you there about I too never saw the greatness in Beebe. Actually the guy on the current Bill's I'd compare to Beeebe is TJ, alot of speed, but not sure of the football instincts.
  22. Seems I recall a couple months back or so that RW was planning on attending the opener. Was wondering if he was there, or at yesterdays game, never heard any mention of it either way??
  23. I don't know most of the coordinators who get HC gigs are on teams that a very good. Unless the Bill's go on to win 11 or 12 games, not sure how much viability he will truly get. Granted he's a little bit different than say a Gregg Williams as he already has a rep from his time with Jet's. I will grant you, that's the one team I could see hiring him, but beyond that I'm not sure how much notice he'll truey get.
