More 5th year players contracts not picked up
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure if I'd call Mitch a bust, but he was a bust only based on where he was selected. If he were a 4th round selection, no one would be talking about how terrible he is. He may join the likes of many 1sr round stars who become career back-ups at lower cost contracts. -
Could have been the thought to was that Epenesa would never have been their at 54, so if we can get Dugger great! But agree thinking may have changed once they saw who they still could take. That is the one position too the team needs to get younger at, so having him, Oliver and Phillips helps there quite a bit. That allows you to sign some short term older pass rushing specialist at the other end

Post-Draft Roster Predictions
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to ComradeKayAdams's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm in favor of this happening too, but not sure if the can get away with cutting him and another team not grabbing him before he gets to the PS. Will have to give him terrible situations in pre-season to make him look bad But everyone said the same last year about Duke Williams last year after the "amazing" pre-season he had and look how many others jumped at him. A 5th rounder with his pedigree might be hard to stash though. -
Rd 5, Pick 167: QB Jake Fromm, Georgia
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Based on the signings they've made, I'll be surprised if there's not an extra defensive lineman too, so that could take the 2nd extra roster spot instead. -
Every word in this sentence is a massive exaggeration. While the line is not top 10, Dawkins is better than middling, Morse is better that somewhat above average, and the other three are better than average. And Ford is far, far fro ma massive liability, and was a rookie on top of all that asked to juggle between two positions a good part of the season. On top of that 4 of the 5 guys weren't even with the team the year prior so there was little continuity. Add in that Morse missed all of the off season which then caused both Feliciano and Ford to switch positions (until Feliciano also got hurt) which again throughout training camp, limited reps together. The first time all five got to play in their "normal" positions was opening day.

Are the Bills set at TE?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your post stated that they neglected the TE for years. Signing 4 TE's last year isn't neglected. Knox looked like a rookie because he was a rookie. Yes he had drops, but also made plays some that very others have the skill set to make. And yes is too early to tell, but if you sign another TE to take over as the #1, then you'll never know what Knox can do. -

They signed 4 TE's last year, I wouldn't call that neglected. The one thing I do know if no one knows how good Know could be including you. -

So who has a stronger arm Barkley or Fromm?? To me that's the biggest question. And will they keep all three on the active roster. Doubt you could cut Fromm and slip him to PS. Or do they cut Barkley in September? -
If we don't go RB in 2nd, bring back Shady?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In addition to everything already stated why this is a bad idea, Shady also isn't a good compliment to him. I'd prefer seeing a Derrick Henry type of power back. -
Report: Raiders close to a trade for Yannick

I have faith in Houston offering Watson and their 1st for Yannick! If Jax holds out they'll throw in Watt -
Pre-Draft Roster Locks, Maybes and Open Spots
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At a certain point, the new guys become the vets. There was post yesterday commenting how Allan doesn't necessarily need Barkley for the vet presence, so could see that here too and not sure he doesn't view Kroft as that guy either. If Sweeney can come closer to Smith in blocking I'd prefer seeing Smith gone and keep Croom as the 4th TE as he brings something different to the field, more of a WR like TE -
Pre-Draft Roster Locks, Maybes and Open Spots

I think Sweeney will have improved enough as a blocker that Smith gets cut assuming no injuries to anyone. -
Bills Sign OL Evan Boehm

From his first marriage. -
I never watched it, like having downtime after the NFL season ends, kind of like the players, need time to recoup orate for the next season. But am curious how were the rating, And maybe not the first week, but how were they the last couple they were on? Didn't hear much about it which typically isn't a good thing.

If anything the rank and file could try and sue the NFLPA leadership, but likely they all have millions in personal liability insurance (i.e. getting sued) thru the NFLPA. So in reality in the remote chance they could possibly win a lawsuit, force the insurance companies to pay out, then watch the insurance company jack the rates way up so their union dues would increase to pay for it.

You think someone would trade for Murphys contract? Johnson could see that happening, but what are you going to get for a former 7th rounder that you're obviously trying to get rid of. At best a 6th rounder. Same with a guy like Williams, a guy who couldn't make an NFL roster the past two plus seasons. You may get a couple of 6th rounders if lucky but not anything close to moving up in the first 3 rounds. Teams ware willing to mybe let go 6th, sometimes a 5th if a really good situation, but not much higher.

For WR think they will draft someone, particularly if someone with size likely Williams is the odd man out as McKenzie gives them the gadget plats, maybe get Williams back to PS Will depend how Ford looks pre-season, if he looks fine, then maybe Ty or Williams is cut, or they keep 9. Same with D line I think they keep 9 total. Can't see that they'd sign all these guys, pay roster bonuses only then to turn around and cut Murphy who was the lineman last year that played the most. If they draft someone , then Johnson goes to PS Remember McD seems like like fresh bodies on the line With re-signing Proyer, could see them waiting a year before drafting a safety They get two extra roster spots this year, think it will be two of the following three groups taking those spots: D line, O-line, secondary. Which two not certain, if I had to guess I'd go with secondary and D-line
