  1. The only risk then is does Edmunds have hurt feeling by not getting 5th year option so reluctant to sigh with Bills forcing them to use franchise tag.
  2. Took a big chance though after drafting Hamlin that Wildgoose would have been selected by another team before the Billsd got the chance to pick again!
  3. Either that or stash some on PS. 5th round picks are borderline risks of being grabbed by another team when initially cut. 6th and 7ths worth taking the risk. May also see a number of these rookies develop injuries late August requiring them to be on season ending IR.
  4. Highly doubt that happens this year considering everything ford has gone through. He may be the most jerked around player ever on the Bills roster. As a rookie he started practicing at tackle, until Mongo got hurt, then moved him to guard. Once Mongo came back, moved him back to tackle. Year two no mention (at least publicly) as to where Ford would play prior to training camp which BTW was abbreviated. Then in the middle of abbreviated camp and with no pre-season, moved him to guard, first was it the left side, then switched to right side once Spain was benched, then got hurt twice was it and missed half the year. Ford could become a bust and is gone after the 2021 season, but barring a huge setback, can't see it happening this coming year. Anderson is a 7th round pick so can easily stash him on PS this year with low risk of losing him. Can't see them giving up on 2nd round pick after only two jerked around seasons.
  5. Think it's pretty clear that many of the picks by the Bills were made looking down the road. In 2023 Williams will be the last year of his contract so replace him with one of the rookie tackles. Same with selecting two DE's, looking beyond this year. More than the past couple of years, seems a handful of the picks are either boom based on potential or could be busts, will see. My only concern is roster slots for this year. Can't see either Addison or Hughes being traded as who'd want their high salaries? Addison's salary is fully guaranteed to can't see him being cut either. So how do you handle all the players on the line. To me the only ones who they'd have a shot at being traded are either Johnson, Phillips, or Zimmer, maybe the one FA they just signed? Would they trade Epinesa?? To get traded you either need to be on a cheap normally initial contract, or be and extremely good player which don't think any of the current D-Line players qualify. To make room I suspect one of the DE and one of the OT's they drafted will suddenly become injured around the end of August and be on the IR list all year. Likely a paper cut or hang nail, something serious along those lines. Sixth round and lower picks likely take a shot on releasing and placing on PS. The one saving grace may be that many other teams will also be in same situation due to opt outs and teams who didn't play.
  6. It's easy for Jones to look great when he's surrounded by the most talent in college. Wilson I question based on college completion he faced. Will see with both of them. Odds are in their favor of being busts, at least one of them.
  7. I think all three still have big questions at QB. Newton didn't show much last year, Tua's arm is questionable, add in two rookies who have questions about them. Jets have a new coach, who was the hot name, but how many hot names really work out?
  8. I can't imagine any team trading for him or Addison based on their contract regardless of leave of pick. Just being able to trade either, I believe reduces the cap hit to the Bills compared to cutting him. The only one I see with any trade value is Phillips due to cheap contract. Would they trade Epinesa?? Probably he too would have value.
  9. Personally I was more thinking interior lineman in the 2nd so would still be fine with that or CB in the 3rd now.
  10. Could mean one of these two will have a hang nail in training camp and placed on IR?? There was another thread discussing which D lineman will be cut as we had one extra and was easy to cut or trade one of them without losing very much. Now with two, will be tougher. Don't know much about the contracts of Hughes or Addison, know they are both FA after this season, but how much would dead money if either is cut before this year.
  11. Think it depends on the position. IMO RB and CB are two positions that a rookie can come in and contribute right away and be pretty effective at it. So if you were going to draft one of those positions, I'd say no, take the rookie. Other positions like Edge, TE have longer learning curve so may be worth it there.
  12. The fact this came out the day of the draft tells me it's more a message to the Packers that tonight and Friday they better be drafting offensive play makers or else! Then he may seriously want out if they don't.
  13. Is interesting in that the 2018 draft featured more "can't miss" QB's than most years prior to the draft. Where are we now, Allan, Mayfield, and Jackson who wasn't as much in the discussions as top picks look good to excellent. On the other end Rosen, bust, Darnold questionable at best, this is make or break year for him. Seems like I'm forgetting one more?? Rudolph in 3rd round who was projected higher prior to draft hasn't looked good either. So likely this years QB picks which may even be selected overall higher than 2018, some will become busts, the question is which ones??
  14. IF and this is a big if this were to happen, then I also think on Friday you'll hear that the Bills traded Singletary for a draft pick, maybe another 5th?
  15. Got to be careful though, with all these Brits on the team that we don't end up with some soccer player by mistake!
  16. Has many very well written articles, sometimes a bit more lengthy than I'd like. Your subscription gives you access to all sports all teams, can choose which teams to follow and they show up in your favorites. Just read a good article on how Isaiah Thomas messed up the Knicks, there was a full 2 round mock draft with each selection by the teams beat writer. Believe there are podcasts for teams of choice too. They have offers for new subscribers too. Believe full price is $60 a year?
  17. In fairness this was the same time frame that guys like Akili Smith and the guy from the Raiders (can't recall his name) were drafted #1 overall and there were a whole bunch of other bad QB's drafted very high then too that not even naming, Couch who went to Cleveland, etc. For whatever reason, the past 4 to 5 years the crop of college QB's has improved quite a bit. Back then teams were desperate and would take chance on the JP's of the world as there were very few keepers coming out. Back around say 2008 how many good legit franchise QB's were there? Brady, Big Ben, the Manning Brothers, Romo, Brees, Fauve,, maybe Flacco??
  18. Behind a pay wall, but pretty good article written about him. Currently he's the offensive analyst coach at Clemson. Many good things written about him, very humble, extremely smart, etc. Didn't realize he spent a year working with B Daboll in Miami too. Didn't plan on coaching, started out coaching at a HS in Conn and realized it was his calling. https://theathletic.com/2537042/2021/04/23/ex-bills-qb-j-p-losman-didnt-let-his-disappointing-nfl-career-define-him-instead-he-found-his-calling-at-clemson/?source=dailyemail
  19. Talent wise certainly true, though Dallas and Giants may provide better ratings. But to the neutral fan Bills are an exciting team to watch.
  20. The only 2 names on that list that I somewhat wish the Bills had held onto was Marlowe and maybe Roberts to a lesser degree. Seems like Bojo was lost due to wanting too much money. This may sound like a small thing, but I also wonder if the team was not happy with his holding abilities, too many balls with laces not out. Couple that with him wanting big $$ and they went in another direction??
  21. Agree, they could get lucky and get the next Mahomes, but the odds are much more in their favor of getting the next Josh Rosen instead as for every Mahomes out there, there's a half dozen or so Rosen's. And you can only pick one at a time, drafting one every year, you'll never have time to find out if he'll work out or not.
  22. Not sure you can read much into that. Fromm was kept in isolation so for that same reason wouldn't get called up. Plus think Webb was called up more of a perk to get a full game check.
  23. He may survive a failure by Tua as there was some risk with taking him and think it was known. What I think will be Miami's downfall will be their coach is pretty good and the team is pretty solid, minus the QB. So for the next few years, they likely will be good enough to win 8 to 9 games every season, thus never bad enough to get the franchise QB. Next year in 2022 even with the extra picks, are there any can't miss college QB's out there? This year, other than Lawrence, the others all carry some risk. Take a guy like Darnold, he was more considered "can't miss" than the remaining players this year.
