Our first round picks, in action and in uniform
Ramius replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Madden (finally) stretched out the ratings this year. Gone are the days when every player is rated between 78 and 99. This year, we are supposed to see player ratings that actually mean something, so 90's are reserved for the best players, 80's for good players, 70's for average players, and 60's and 50's for below average or backup caliber players. EDIT: http://insideblog.easports.com/archive/200...-a-new-era.aspx -
So dick's great and all, but when can we expect results from him, such as a winning season? (Note: dickie has had 1 winning season in 8 as a coach). Nice bosses and great people are all well and good, but being nice is relatively worthless when you don't produce results. And dick has shown that he can't produce. What baffles me is the unwavering support of some people toward him. Do you have the same feelings for Rich Kotite? Excuse us if some of us actually want a coach that can win and take us to the playoffs, and are fed up with the "play not to lose" and "hope the other team messes up" style of football.

House Democrats refuse to hear skeptic of Manbearpig
Ramius replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Anytime one side had decided to stop listening to contrary opinions or contrary evidence, the topic ceases to be science and turns into a religion. Funny, if everyone is so sure that global warming is real, they why not listen to the opposing viewpoint and poke holes in it? Oh yeah, they can't. Why chase away someone who is presenting an opposing viewpoint? Because they are going to cast serious doubt on your little "theory." -
The NFL is considering a 3 day draft(Thu-Sat)
Ramius replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But you've had since the middle of january or decide to whom you are going to fork over millions of dollars to (you even know roughly how many millions you are going to fork over). If teams need that extra 5 minutes so bad, i recommend they extend pre-draft meetings on friday evening by an additional 5 minutes. -

Ramius replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cutting down the time was the best thing the NFL did. You've had months to come up with a draft board and make decisions, and now teams are stressed because they only have 10 minutes to submit a pick instead of 15? If those 5 minutes make a huge difference in decision making, there's a real problem with that team. In the first round, i'd guess most teams spend all of 1 minute making their selection and the remaining 9 are spent hoping someone calls offering the farm on a trade up. -
Round 7, Pick 220: ELLIS LANKSTER, CB, West Virginia
Ramius replied to Captain Quint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand what you're saying, and i edited my original post, because i didn't agree and thought it stupid to leave some good QB, etc prospects on the board. But we signed a handful of OL and DL as UDFAs, so it ultimately doesn't matter. I'm more concerned with rounds 1-3 (and the 4th somewhat), because thats usually where the talent is. The beginning of this draft should set this team us for the future. And on the bright side, when we go 5-11 and dickie is finally canned, Maybin can probably move to OLB if the new coach wants to run a 3-4. None of the top picks we had are "specific scheme" players, so they should be of good value to the new coaching staff in 2010. -
Round 7, Pick 220: ELLIS LANKSTER, CB, West Virginia
Ramius replied to Captain Quint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What exactly is the difference between a 6th/7th rounder and a UDFA? There's none. Take the 2 guys we just signed as UDFAs, the OL and the DE. If we had drafted them in rounds 6 and 7 and had signed the 2 CBs as UDFAs, would that have made the draft better? Our team would sure look exactly the same. I'm not defending the front office for making those picks, because i didn't like them and thought it was a tad ridiculous, i'm simply saying that it doesn't matter. -
I Wonder Where All The Russ Brandon And The FO Sucks
Ramius replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"attack the messenger" usually uses personal insults. Notice how i didn't resort to calling names or anything, simply calling out your laughably ridiculous posts. And you claim my reading comprehension is bad. Speaking of "an army of straw-men", lets look at your issues. 1. Langston Walker sucked on the crappy raiders, which means he's always going to suck. Nice analysis. 2. Russ Brandon is an idiot because the pats traded with the ravens. If the Bills wanted Oher that bad, they would have traded up. But then you could have bashed them for "wasting picks" and "reaching." So the Ravens thought the Bills were targeting Oher, and hoping he'd fall to 28. Last time i checked, the Ravens still picked before us. Please explain how the Ravens trading from 26 to 23 screwed the Bills, who picked at 28 (notice how 28 comes after 26), and "bewildered" Russ Brandon. Please also explain how you know he front office wanted Oher sooo bad and was so upset that they had to take Wood instead. You're reaching to bash the Bills for no reason. I thought the draft was all about "letting the draft come to you" and "not letting other teams picks affect yours." Oh, thats right, when the pats* do it, its the way to draft, but when the Bills do it, Russ is an idiot. 3. Oh, so it was on the radio, meaning you are incapable of coming up with any thoughts of your own, besides parroting "Bills suck, Brandon sucks, we need a real GM." I'm guessing that you haven't given any credit to the numerous media outlets that have been praising the Bills draft, because it wouldn't fit your anti-front office crusade. Slamming the front office for each and every single decision made, good or bad, shows that you aren't really out to discuss anything, merely incessantly trash the bills, B word, and whine. -
UC tied with 4 colleges with 6 players drafted.
Ramius replied to stuckincincy's topic in College Football
It was a good job by cincy. Espceially consideing the Big 3 in florida (FSU, UF, UM) only had 5 total players drafted. -

Ramius replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good to know you aren't here to actually have any type of discussion, and your sole purpose is to crusade against the front office and state ad nauseum how terrible they are. Anyone with knowledge of the game isn't going to think the draft instantly makes this an 11-5 team. We are still much closer to 5-11. But, on the surface (since this is the only analysis you can do 2 days after the draft), the draft was a major step in the right direction for the franchise. Failure to acknowledge that shows that you are here to do nothing more than criticize every single move the front office makes. Just because you dont liek all their moves and they've made bad moves in the past doesn't mean that every move made is bad. And the "bills were out maneuvered by belicheat," is laughable at best . They had no control over what the pats* do. Funny thing tho: belicheat actually wanted Eric Wood, but we got him instead. So how does that fit in your little world of "the pats* can do no wrong and the Bills can do no right?" -

And the damn global warming morons wonder why we call it a "religion." -
No equal protection, huh? While we're at it, why don't we limit marriage to white property owning males?
-
What about his bro mike?
-
Celebrating religion is perfectly fine. Just don't let what you believe that your invisible man said dictate how others (who don't believe in your invisible man) live their lives. If you want to celebrate your invisible man, be my guest, but let others celebrate theirs in whatever way they see fit.
-
So men and women marry for love, but gays marry or want to get married for sex and benefits. Got it. You're a bright one.
-
Except they already have Byrd listed at S on the official roster. so no, CBs in rounds 6 and 7 isn't extreme, and that is only 2 CBs, not 3.
-
Good post Cincy. I'm of the mind that there's essentially no difference between your average 6th/7th round pick and your average UDFA. So why not take a flyer on some guy you had rated a lot higher and then fill out your "depth projects" via UDFA. Most of these guys aren't going to pan out anyway, but you stand a better chance of hitting if you take your higher rated players as opposed to "position X/Y"

Prolly... Walker-Wood-Hangy-Levitre-Butler With: Chambers, McKinney, Bell as the primary backups. Don't the Bills normally only dress 8 OL on gameday? Thsi way Chambers is first off the bench, unless Hangy goes down. In that case, slide Wood over to OC and Chambers to guard. McKinney is depth at interior OL and Bell is depth at OT.
-
Quick question, if we had drafted the OT and DE we just signed, and then signed our 6th and 7th round picks as UDFAs, would people have stopped bitching, even though we ended up with the exact same players?

Round 1, Pick 28: ERIC WOOD, C, Louisville

Someone please check on Bill in NYC. He probably splooged in his pants and then passed out. -
How do you know that Freddy isn't asking for 4 million per year?
-
If the giants are so desperate to get a WR in round 1 today, why would you NOT trade your #1 for Boldin? Boldin >>>>>> any rookie taken in round 1.
-
Its simply another test for potential picks. You have to beat Ralph at DDR.
