  1. Good thread. I hope people realize what a once-in-a-lifetime experience it is to be able to root for this athlete. He is one of one. Every game is an Event. Every play. 3rd and 26 and down by two TDs - ok let’s see what Josh does here. We have 17 and we’re still in it. He tells us to “have a little faith” and I believe him. We are blessed.
  2. That's exactly what his coach said after the game - was on the QB to throw the outlet there.
  3. Call up Gore and put Davis on IR at this point. Something is wrong with him this season.
  4. I don’t like the spelling of Balln
  5. And the plays Tua made where he was running and chucking, he can't make those throws in inclement weather - at all. He can only do that on the road in September or in a home playoff game (which ain't happening).
  6. Walker has Chris Jones measurables and traits.
  7. Even before the missed FG - the previous play where Josh got sacked, it looked like if he had just stepped to his right instead of up into the teeth of the rush, he would’ve had wide open space to scramble. That drive really should’ve been the kill shot - was very frustrating. I’m sure Josh was frustrated too.
  8. Agree with this but it’s odd he’s not knocking down more passes. That’s been his calling card - using his length to disrupt passing windows and occasionally reach over his blocker and grab the QB. He used to do both of those things to Tua especially. For whatever reason we haven’t seen much of it this year (I think he had one pass block against the Jets).
  9. Bernard is gonna be a coach someday.
  10. I’ve said it before but - thank the lord the Dolphins took Tua over Herbert.
  11. Walker has Chris Jones potential.
  12. He may have clinical shyness. Cut him some slack.
  13. Show em your t-ts? man is a legend
  14. Also your typical crappy Thursday night experience. Sloppy and a slog.
  15. He had a consensus first/early second round grade.
  16. Part of the issue is the word "coaching" because it implies Xs and Os. I always stress on here - it's a team's overall Player Development Program, of which coaching is a part, but not the only part. There is so much that goes into teaching players how to become professionals and giving them the individual support they need in order to be great. Strength and conditioning, mechanics, other physical instruction and support are part of it - but sometimes it's even more wholistic than that. Helping them eliminate bad influences (friends and family members) who are interfering with their progress. Financial literacy. Teaching them to be good leaders and good colleagues. "Coaching" doesn't capture all of this stuff - and it varies wildly from organization to organization.
  17. His interviews are definitely red flags - he comes across as an Adam Gates type (without the weird googly eye thing).
  18. At the time he was considered a MASSIVE reach and the consensus view proved to be the correct one. If Beane had reached for a guard like that he would’ve fairly been skewered. Fine to hate on the Elam pick and the flawed process that led to it but at least he was a traits guy at a skill position - that’s where you want to be going with your first round picks and if you’re going to swing and miss, that’s where you want to be aiming. Not an interior o lineman with a consensus 3-4 round grade.
  19. The issue with Goff has always been if the play breaks down he's toast - lacks the talent to improvise or overcome a bad play call or missed blocking assignment. That's not really a fair criticism - the same "criticism" can be lodged against many QBs, maybe less so in today's game where mobile passers are more prevalent. Tua is a really good comparison. Drew Brees - if he didn't have a clean inner pocket he struggled. Kirk Cousins isn't improvising. Lots of QBs need protection and good playcalling in order to perform at a high level. Josh is not one of those QBs.
  20. I don’t know if I agree with your theory about QBs and coaches but I do think that Johnson’s QB is already on that roster. Either by poor performance or injury it’s just a matter of time before Bagent is starting (they just paid him a bunch of $$ for a non-veteran backup QB), and once he gets the job IMO he’s never letting go of it. That kid can play.
  21. McDaniel shows linebackers all kinds of eye candy to suck them in or delay their drops, then Tua drops it in over their heads as they react late. Williams has been known to take the bait so hopefully his eye discipline has improved….
  22. Josh used to play hero ball at MetLife, the Jets would always bait him into throwing into the teeth of their downfield coverage. Glad he avoided that trap on Sunday and just took what was there.
