I've thought about the same thing, not getting value out of rookie deals. Just because we resign a player we drafted, that doesn't mean we got value out of their rookie deal. By the time we resign them, we are, for the most part, paying the regular free agent rate and we just as easily could have signed a non-drafted player at the same position for similar money. Yes, they "know the system" but if you're a vet, that's not a big deal. "Rookie value" is predicated on our drafted players starting and excelling long before their second contract so we don't have to sign and pay too many second-deal veteran players. Not happening enough in Buffalo.

I'll take a WR1B and or a DT over linebacker.

Funny how many of us thought the Vegas season-win total of 10.5 was way too low. Of course, injuries are a factor but it won't be shocking to see the Bills go under that. Glad I didn't let me my homerism prompt me into betting $1,000 on that as, at the time, I was very, very confident we'd win 11 or more games.

I don't wish injury on almost any NFL player, but a player who strikes a pregnant woman in the face and stomach (and later is investigated for breaking the arm of a three-year old child) is a POS and deserves injury, jail time and anything else bad that happens behind bars or on the streets. I like Tua; I despise Hill. So this is not a Dolphin thing. It's a POS thing.

I'm thinking about a large and spicy serving of self destruction: If we don't get it together, I want it to fall apart — horrifically — so changes are made. I don't want to just tread water and be a decent team but not a great one. That will ensure the status quo. Be great or blow it up. Nothing in between.

I'm a functional alcoholic, not a GM. But I'd be pretty stoked to land both Henry and Hopkins this year. Yes, it's a one-season rental for Henry (perhaps he'd resign with us) and Hopkins is a 2-year rental, but do you honestly not believe those two players would no transform this offense? Right now it's all on DIggs most games. Hopkins and Henry change that instantly.

If I'm reading this right, Hopkins has a dead cap figure of over $11 million in 2023 and over $7.8 million in 2024. That's pretty damn interesting, Henry and Hopkins... So what would you give up for that? I'd say, given that Henry appears to be an FA next year and Hopkins seems to have a 2024 year (but the Titans have to eat a lot of dead cap) and I could be WAY off base, but I'd give up... a 2nd, a 3rd, Davis (not sure if he holds value). Or... A 2nd, and Cook. Just off the top of my head. Don't want to lose a 1st but those two guys would make us very dangerous. In theory.

Would he put us over the top? No. But only a fool would say we wouldn't be a better team. If the cap hit and compensation are low I wouldn't be opposed to it. But yes, a 1B receiver would be ideal — but is that feasible?

Very refreshing and surprising. It dispels the old cliched response that players are only focused on one game at a time and don't look ahead on the schedule. It also sets up some very high expectations that, if they are not met, will result in tough questions and answers It dispels the meaningless myth that they need to win every game. That is so abstract that it actually means nothing. There is room for error, and Von acknowledges that, but he's also acknowledging that the margin for error is almost razor thin. Very good to hear. This should be entertaining, at the very least, no matter which way it plays out.

One could make a compelling argument that the last three games are very close to a collapse. A loss this week to Tampa, and I think the pitchforks will be out — and for good reason.

I only saw the second half but was pleasantly surprised to learn from the Cover 1 video that 50.7% of his yardage was YAC. We don't have a lot of players who do that, especially with shorter routes. I said before that by the end of 2024 he will displace Knox as our number 1 TE; but that prediction may have to be revised to happen in 2023.

Is it just me or does Hurts look a lot like Evander Holyfield, and a lot older than he is?

As bad as I feel about earlier, it feels very good to see the Phins losing by a couple of TDs late in the game. God, I hate this team this year.

Thanks for that but that was pre-Allen and I don't think with Tyrod that anyone expected a deep playoff run in 2016.

Is there a recent example of a team like the Bills firing a coordinator mid-season? And by that I mean with a winning record and expectations of a deep playoff run? And an example where that mid-season coordinator change led to a championship? Not being sarcastic here, I'd like to know if that's happened recently and is a precedent.

The math is not, as you suggest, totally obvius. But the fact that Diggs is 11th in the NFL in first read targets suggests, to me at least, that Diggs is usually the first read. Also, he's far and away our best target so I would be surprised if Diggs is not the first read the majority of the time. That said, outside of the stats, the eye test tells us Josh doesn't always spread the ball around enough. Not every game but some games he locks onto Steph too much. I think it's a trust issue. When this offense can consistently spread the ball around to multiple targets, it will be very, very hard to stop.

I'm sure by the end of next season Kincaid can improve his blocking skills to be good enough to be a starter. There are a lot of starting TEs who aren't great blockers. The kid looks like a hard and diligent worker. You don't run routes like that by accident.
