  1. The Jets have real good cornerbacks and the weather will be much less than ideal. I'm hoping Gabe Davis can cut down on his drops, but I think Buffalo needs to get more production from Knox and Josh also needs to be ready to throw some short passes to his running backs, particularly Cook. With the right game plan Josh might make 300 yards passing, but I don't that getting big yards for Josh is or should be the goal.
  2. I hope Frazier gets his opportunity to be a head coach again. He's a quality coach and a better person. I'm wondering who would be the replacement? I think McDermott is probably immutable in his belief that his scheme is the one the Bills should run. That would translate IMO to the bills not hiring a DC from outside of the team with a strong association to a radically different defensive scheme. That would limit the Bills to hiring someone from the outside whose system is close enough to meld seamlessly with McDermott's or to promote from within.
  3. I disagree. Mock drafters tend to be conformists, and for short periods of time, it may look like quite a few mock drafts are coming into consensus. Yes, there are quite a few mocks slotting one or the other of the two running backs generally supposed might go in round one (Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs. I don't think it is anywhere close to a consensus. I follow mock drafts year round. I reviewed half a dozen today. A few had Gibbs or Robinson going to the Bills, but I also saw a couple defensive ends going to Buffalo. Also, a couple WRs and interior offensive linemen. At various times, I've also seen a lot of safeties mocked to the Bills, or more accurately, a few safeties mocked to Buffalo in lots of mock drafts. There will continue to be an ebb and flow in what positions are popular choices for mock drafters. As for what the Bills do, Beane has shown a propensity to draft players in the early rounds, not positions. Drafting late in the round, it's likely there will be few players left that Beane will consider to be a first round value. Kaiir Elam was the last one left in Beane's mind last year. A running back would have to be an extraordinary talent to be a first round value in Beane's mind, I would think. However, Beane is not going to pick an interior lineman just to fill a need. O'Cyrus Torrence is a name that pops up quite a bit as a Buffalo pick. Is he a first round talent? Maybe. Beane probably hasn't decided himself yet, and won't until sometime in February -April. It's way too early to be ruling out almost any position other than QB, punter or place kicker. Beane might try to trade up or down too. He'll be inclined to entertain offers from other teams if Buffalo's turn is approaching and he doesn't like what's there.
  4. By the letter of the law, it was a penalty. Ejecting Hamlin was completely bogus, however. That was a judgment decision by the referee, and it was a very bad one.
  5. It looks like it's completely deliberate. Dirty actions seem to be part of the Patriot DNA. "Cheatriot" is a perfectly appropriate name.
  6. Hackett is clearly in over his head, and may be one and done after this season. I do think there is a specific issue here. Hackett is a West Coast guy. I don't think Russell Wilson is a West Coast QB. Denver hoped he could be, but they were in essence trying to force a square peg in a round hole. It may also be that Wilson is hitting the wall of his career. In any case, he's been terrible this season. Compounding that is the fact that Denver overpaid him big time on a long term deal in the off-season. The bottom line is that the Broncos made a huge long term bet that looks to have completely backfired. They may be paying the price for their mistake long after Hacket is gone.
  7. We don't really need the last 7 games of the season, do we? Let's just go straight to the playoffs.
  8. Thanks for posting. I tried to watch frame by frame and it looks like the Patriot defender may have been blocked into Martin but the picture is so small and the quality is not great. It's tough to tell.
  9. I hope they show the Gillette commercial featuring Josh Allen on their scoreboard every home game from now to the end of the season.
  10. Yeah, his hit looks like the difference between an incompletion and a touchdown.
  11. I think in general, the Bills look for players with high football character. In turn, they demonstrate respect in the way they treat the players. It looks like a solid philosophy to me.
  12. That's what I thought. The question is why is it different for an in bounds catch versus Poyers' would be interception, where he caught the ball, got two feet in, then bobbled the ball as he hit the ground without ever letting it touch the ground.
  13. I would guess he's probably full go for the Jets game. He'll take off the plays he usually would but won't be on a pitch count.
  14. I would say probably, but a Super Bowl ring or two is always a big plus to the selection committee.
  15. I don't disagree. My post was a suggestion for a way to encourage Josh to look at Knox more.
  16. He's had a decent season. Essentially Knox has done everything asked of him this season. It would be incorrect to blame him for not doing more when he hasn't been asked. Tonight, he probably was kept in to block more than usual considering the "turnstile and potato" OTs Buffalo had to field. Allen is probably not conditioned to look for him in the way Patrick Mahomes is looking for Kelce. Allen is probably more comfortable with Diggs and Davis, so even when he's out in a pattern and open, he's not going to look at Knox first. I think Dorsey ought to design and call some plays where Knox is the first read.
  17. Was he active for the game and sat on the bench, or was he inactive? Hopefully, whatever happened to prompt this action is a one time thing and he'll be able to contribute moving forward.
  18. Agree. I don't know what they expect defensive players to do. Hamlin's hit could have been the difference between an incomplete pass and a touchdownIt was definitely not helmet to helmet. On the whole, I thought it was an unspectacular but very solid win by the Bills.
  19. Buffalo has been through a difficult stretch. The injuries in particular have stressed the players. I'm picking Buffalo to beat New England, but it's not going to be an easy game. The "mini-bye the Bills have before their next game will do a lot to help them get their energy back, especially if the medical people decide Von Miller can play out the season with a brace.
  20. I think the Bills are a better team than Miami. Miami caught Buffalo at perfect time. Buffalo was dealing with a bunch of injuries and the weather in Miami for the game was perfect to take advantage of the disparity in the two sidelines. As long as the injury situations are somewhat similar, I expect Buffalo to win the rematch in Buffalo.
  21. Something like that is impossible to predict. Peterman does not have the arm that Geno Smith has, and that limits his ceiling. At best, he's probably a game managing backup, but he can make a career out of that if he can get his nerves under control and if he has improved his ability to read NFL defenses.
  22. For the Bills, he was fine in practice, but his nerves got the best of him in games. After several years in the league, he may have calmed down enough to actually produce in games. I have nothing against him. He's been a fringe player not for quite a while, but he may have actually improved over time. Don't know if he'll ever get a chance to show it.
  23. I'm assuming that Miller will need surgery at some point on his torn meniscus. The question is, do they do the surgery now or slap a brace on his knee and let him have surgery in February (after the Super Bowl). If Miller opts to wait on the surgery, and the tear isn't too bad, he may only need a week or two for the inflammation to calm down so he can play.
  24. I expect that Tre White's reps will probably double next week. Elam will be another week removed from his injury, so the Bills should be OK at CB. If White can get back to locking down the opponent's top receiver, then the Bills can figure out how to control the rest of the receivers Buffalo faces. The guys they have all have experience going up against top flight NFL receivers. New England presents more of a threat running than receiving in any case.
  25. Buffalo is the first team to win back to back home and away games in the same stadium
