Davante Adams disgruntled with Packers
BigAl2526 replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With all due respect to Davante Adams, who may be the best receiver in the league, but is certainly in the top three, I don't see that this trade would have a huge impact for Buffalo. Buffalo already has Diggs and Josh Allen has the potential to put up close to 5,000 passing yards on the season with the receiver group Buffalo has in house. Does Adams give them another 200-300 yards? Maybe, but I'm not sure that translates into more wins. That's without even talking about how Cole Beasley's vocal reaction against league COVID protocols and his stated inclination to retire rather than abide by them. That may may him an untradeable commodity. If I'm Green Bay, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. -
Duke should definitely be part of the WR's this year
BigAl2526 replied to LB48's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, and he may be almost as relevant in 2021 as he was in 2020. -
Sam Darnold also had the handicap of having an idiot head coach. I don't think Darnold has had the same benefit of continuity as Josh Allen . Josh has had Brian Daboll's offense for 3 years. I'm not sure who Darnold's offensive coordinators have been, but he's had more than one. In comparison to Josh Allen, I do think Sam Darnold is more laid back while Josh Allen is driven. That may in part because Darnold was something of a "golden child" at USC and didn't to work as hard to have college success, while Josh Allen had to claw his way from high school to junior college to Wyoming.

Gabe Davis, rising star and generally Good Guy
BigAl2526 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks. What I tried to say was that Gabe Davis' opportunities will be somewhat dependent on the Cole Beasley situation. If Beasley has the year he's capable of having, Sanders will get more of his game reps on the outside, and that will cut into the opportunities that Gabe Davis gets. If Beasley retires or ends up getting cut over his anti-vacc./anti-COVID protocol stand, then Sanders will get the lion's share of his game reps in the slot. In that scenario, Davis could have a huge year. -
Fetes' Five Hot Takes for the 2021 NFL season
BigAl2526 replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I definitely don't think Josh Allen will lead the team in rushing yards. I also don't think Levi Wallace will lead the team in interceptions.. I'll be a little surprised if Sanders gets 1000 yards receiving. The other two are quite possible. -
The only significant encounter I've had is with Steve Tasker. He and I were both delegates to a conference I attended. I sat next to him at a dinner table with about five other people at the table. This was well after his playing days.

Diggs #3 overall WR entering 2021 according to ESPN
BigAl2526 replied to BruceVilanch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If there was such a thing as a three sided coin, I think you could flip it to decide which of the top three is the best. -
I wouldn't advocate that the Bills get rid of Beasley, but he's making a ton of bad choices, for his own health and the good of the team. Whether or not his behavior rises to the level of becoming a cut/trade level distraction is up to the team.

Good to see you Ice. I hope your Packers can soon get past the Aaron Rodgers troubles.

E Sanders Analysis vs Zone & man Coverage
BigAl2526 replied to Old Coot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this is a fair assessment. I think Sanders is an upgrade, but not a huge one. Brown is somewhat faster and younger. Sanders is a better route runner and better hands, but the age issue is still a question. -
ESPN Future Power Ranking Released Today 7/19
BigAl2526 replied to vtnatefootball11's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like others, picking Baltimore ahead of Buffalo doesn't seem real logical. It does, however seem very ESPNish. -
At the risk of being obvious, let me summarize what we know. Besides the release of Jones (I always hate when a "Jones" gets cut) the only other fact that we know is that Jones never had the opportunity to show what he can or can't do on the field. First, it seems as though Beane figures Jones would be at best a fringe player. Second, he thinks he's in the running to land a player who might be at the very least a bit more impactful than Jones. It would not necessarily be a DT.

don't sleep on...Reggie Gilliam?
BigAl2526 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Gilliam's only route to a roster spot is if the Bills decide they want to run more plays with a fullback or H-Back in the backfield. He's not better than other TEs on the roster at catching the ball or inline blocking, as far as I'm aware, and I think the Bills can get some solid special teams play out of other TEs on the roster. -
Sounds like he broke into a former girlfriend's place. Certainly, it wouldn't have been a random burglary to acquire stolen goods to make some extra money.
-
Other than the fact he was inactive in the playoffs, as Gunner stated, why wouldn't teams target him? He was a rookie playing across from a top 5 corner in the league. He played better than expected, and has better athleticism than Wallace. I think he'll make a leap from his rookie year. He will absolutely compete with Wallace to start, and my money is on him to win.

There's a decent chance that Dane Jackson beats out Levi Wallace. There's enough talent there one way or another to win a fair number of games on the Bills schedule, but not enough to take them to the playoffs.

Slot Recievers - McKenzie / Cole
BigAl2526 replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know that the Bills would decide to cut Beasley over the COVID vaccine remarks, but if Beasley makes good on his threats to flaunt behavior that violates league COVID protocol, the Bills may not have any choice but to plan for life without Beasley. I agree with Gunner that the offense's base will feature Sanders in the slot, but it's nice to know the Bills have options, and I think they will use them in order to confuse defenses. I could imagine Brian Daboll designing players for Isaiah Hodgins in the slot, assuming he makes the 53 man roster. The challenge of covering him would be very different from the challenge of covering Sanders or McKenzie. McKenzie I'm sure, will be in the slot for a lot of plays as well through the season. -
I knew Chuck Christ in high school. Not well - he was a few years older than me, but I watched him play high school football through his whol varsity career.

CBS Sports Top 10 NFL HC's
BigAl2526 replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The challenge in evaluating head coaches is in deciding how to weight different areas. If you weight team performance over a period of time, a great coach who comes into a terrible situation is going to lose early on. It will take a number of years to lift the team's (and coach's) win/loss ratio to the lofty numbers to get him counted as a top coach. David Culley could be an amazing head coach, and nobody's going to know it for years, except maybe some of the players. John Harbaugh is a solid coach, but I have to wonder about one thing. He went all in on Lamar Jackson, not just in drafting him, but in hiring an offensive coordinator whose pet scheme fits Jackson's unique skill set. Smart decision? Maybe. But there is a possibility that Jackson's unique, but limited skill set is also going to create a ceiling for the Ravens that they can never break to win it all. It may be that Harbaugh is good enough that Baltimore is never going to be in the position of being able to draft a true franchise QB who can lead his team to another Super Bowl win.
