  1. Agreed. Everyone should have known this was going to be a frustrating year. No point in getting too high or too low about his or the team's performance any given week. We will know more by the end of the year, and there will hopefully be some entertaining football in the interim.
  2. Generally fair article although I am growing tired of the "least talented team in the NFL" narrative. I do not like these casual generalizations in any arguement and it cheapens his analysis in my opinion. This is clearly not the case on defense, and while a valid argument might be made on offense especially given results, they do have some talent. The problem is the talent at QB is raw and undeveloped and he lacks any consistent playmakers other than Shady. While we all see the problems with the OL, it does not grade out from those that do this as the worst in the league, especially across the board. That is non-sense. (Link to Football Outsiders as of 10/2: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol ) (We are the worst in the league as far as sacks allowed goes, but I think most here realize that Allen bears a fair bit of responsibility for that) RB position is good, and I would argue the tight end group is serviceable if not spectacular. The WR group is an abortion. Jones may one day be a decent slot receiver option if there are other playmakers around him taking attention, but he is not going to be a difference maker in this current team makeup. The rest - yuck. All that said, I agree with his assessment that McD has an ability to get the most out of what he has despite the holes. He gets players to buy in and believe in themselves, and believe in a team concept. If he can maintain this while they continue to build the talent level, we may well have something here.
  3. I thought Star was outstanding yesterday. Definitely doing his job, although the stat sheet will show he was in on one tackle I believe.
  4. Did not know that. Thanks. I will try it today. I dropped Sunday Ticket this year and only have Game Pass so I may try to listen while I float in my pool today.
  5. I feel pretty good about this one. Bills 16/13.
  6. You cannot stream WGR coverage of the game. The NFL does not allow out of market streaming of the games. You can buy radio coverage from the NFL of course. WGR will go silent on their stream about 12:55
  7. So far, results are ... meh. Just calling it like I see it.
  8. Based on what? Some idiotic Internet ranking? Last year he was a coach of the year candidate. Hopefully Bills ownership is a bit more savvy than to place any stock in the opinions of random internet bloggers or fickle fans. Exactly. Moronic.
  9. In the larger context of building a team, which is what he was talking about, building a winning culture is the most important thing in my view, while many seem to disagree. Week to to week strategy of how to beat a particular team, in a given week, is not what he was talking about. That's is actually tactical, not strategic, in the larger context.
  10. I can't decide if I should laugh or cry about this suggestion. Stunning either way. I thought we were finally done with Tebowmania around here. Guess not.
  11. The receivers did not get a chance to drop Peterman's passes since they rarely were on target or on time or both. Your arguments in this thread defy logic. Peterman's performance yesterday was objectively one of the worst ever by a starting QB. On the other hand, of the 9 passes missed by Allen yesterday (6/15), 4 were dropped, 2 or maybe 3 were clear throwaways, and 2 were off target. Even one of those you could put on the WR, as Allen threw to Zay's back shoulder and he was late recognizing it because he was hand fighting with the CB. Call it a miss, does not matter. Plus he was effective running out of trouble. Peterman looked like a noodle armed, scared kid out there all day. I was a kind of surprised actually, but there is no getting around it. He sucks. Maybe someday he won't, but right now, he does.
  12. He would not have made a difference yesterday, and showed absolutely nothing in preseason that would lead me to believe otherwise. WRs not open or dropping passes; poor protection, OL penalties ..... I am not defending Peterman, but AJ would have made no difference in that game.
  13. Certainly seems that way and I am done with him. I supported Tyrod when he was here, and always thought he had more class than he has displayed since he left. Now, f... him.
  14. Is it really necessary to rehash this again? The owner is dead, the GM and money guy are both long gone - just not seeing the relevance. Hey, remind me again why Ralph fired Chuck Knox? Who cares at this point.
  15. Just the latest. They are all bad. He is the king of TBD trolls.
  16. I joined, but it appears it is only the two of us at the moment.
  17. It's never all one thing or another, but that fact is Tyrod was just not good enough. He is not suddenly going to become an effective QB on the Browns. I am quite sure the league wide game plan of "make him be a QB" will render him just as ineffective at sustaining an offense as we witnessed here. He is an upgrade for the Browns, but I am glad he is gone.
  18. I really want to beat this trash team and their fans. I lived in MD 23 years, and I cannot stand the Ravens. Send them alll home crying into their NattyBo's.
  19. You are like the kid who keeps showing up at the neighborhood pick up game that no one likes, gets treated like crap, but will not take the hint that no one wants him there. Your Mommy needs to give you a good talking to, or perhaps take away your toys until you learn.
  20. Certainly agree with the bolded in general, and that Peterman will need to perform to the best of his abilities for the Bills to compete. People in general, even though they would swear they are not, place way to much faith in what they see in meaningless pre-season games. This includes performance of the OL, of the defense, and the QBs, etc. I think we are virtually all guilty of this to some degree. We will begin to see what we really have this Sunday and in the weeks to come. I believe this will be something of a work in progress, but we will see what game planning, specific preparation for a team and individual opponents, and real live bullets looks like with this team for the first time.
  21. Close game. Bills 16, Ravens 13
  22. I think we could be anywhere between 6 and 10 wins depending on the breaks. Split the baby - poor start, strong finish - 8/8. (yuck, but better times are coming)
  23. Well, certainly not one half of football last year, no. That is seemingly the basis for virtually all the doom and gloom and snark from the national media folks. If your question is serious, here is my view. 1. Peterman's performance in camp and preseason indicates significant growth in his understanding and awareness. Do I think he is a "savior"? Of course not. I think he is adequate to hold down the fort until Allen is ready. He will throw more interceptions than Taylor in all likelihood, but he will also throw more completions and probably more touchdowns. When people discuss Taylor's lack of turnovers, they never mention his incredible rate of 3 and outs. I think Peterman will be better, on balance, than Taylor. He will at least be willing to throw the ball. 2. Dennison is gone and I believe we will have a much more diverse and adaptable scheme this year, which will help to grind out first downs and avoid continual 3 and out drives. The scheme will help Peterman to manage the offense. 3. The common belief is we have the "worst group of WRs in the game". I call BS on that. In reality, a healthy Benjamin, Jones, and Kerley are actually better that what they started with last year. Is that great, no its not. They have weapons at tight end and in the backfield to compliment and this seems adequate to me, and better than we were last year at this time. 4. The OL is problematic certainly. Ugly performance in preseason. However, we know from past experience that Groy can play, so can Dawkins, and Mills is serviceable. Ducasse is a weak point, but his play improved over the course of last year and he is playing a new position. Miller need to perform, Ducasse needs to get it sooner than later, and the line needs to gell. I expect them to struggle early in protection but get better as the year progresses. Losing Richie hurts. 5. I have also heard people say the Bills have the worst DL in the NFL. Again, I call BS. We have not seen the entire starting unit together this preseason, so questions remain, but this is improved from last year not worse. Is it good enough when scheming for opponents, we will see. 6. Edmunds is not the player yet he will be by mid year or year end, but he has shown improvement with game action. Major upgrade over Preston Brown. Milano's struggles in the preseason have been disconcerting but he was very good last year and seemed to respond well to McD taking him off the starting unit for a couple of weeks. Depth here could be better but is at least as good as last year and I believe a little better. 7. CB 2 along with nickel CB are concerns. One area (in addition to OL) that I think they may have taken a step back. All in all, I expect a bit of a rough start. If they can go 2 and 2 or even 1 and 3 to start while some of this comes together a bit, I think they are good enough for 7 to 9 wins. A 2 and 5 start is a distinct possibility. 6 wins is the absolute floor in my mind and 10 the absolute best (if they get off to a better start than expected) , but more likely somewhere in the middle.
