Actually they did not pick him with the intention of playing him at MLB this year. Beane said at the time they were going to start him at WLB. It seems they felt comfortable enough at MLB with the other options to decide not to rush this kid who, while talented, played at a small school and is making a big jump in class. Fans seemed to be stuck on Williams being drafted to replace Edmunds but Beane never said that. In fact he said the opposite.

Payton is a self aggrandizing clown, but that does not make him wrong.

What Would Happen if the Bills Cut Damar Hamlin? (Dan Patrick)

Yeah, but cousin Bobby is a POS. -
What Would Happen if the Bills Cut Damar Hamlin? (Dan Patrick)

I think at this point in their careers Hamlin is the better player, all things being equal. However, Hamlin is going to have a struggle mentally to ramp up to full contact and there is no guarantee that he will be able to play at his best initially, or maybe ever. I am rooting for him, but there would certainly be no shame in it if he could not get back. In any event, I do not expect any separation from the Bills to be contentious, not that the media would not try to make it so. -
Well this is a major improvement. It seems I watched every player the Bills played in the slot last year from Crowder to Beasley fail to do this very basic thing. Cost Allen several interceptions.

Eli Apple signs with Miami; Ramsey Replacement
FLFan replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Replaced one obnoxious loudmouth with another. At least Ramsey has some talent to back his up on occasion. -
McDaniel is an arrogant tool, and totally responsible for their Tua related issues, given that if had he done the right thing to begin with, they probably could have avoided the worst of it. Additionally, their offense regressed dramatically under Tua after his return from the concussions. McDaniel is no genius, and a poor leader IMO.

Clueless. Not even worth the time to point out all the reasons why. Study up and come back with some real arguments, “Bills Fan”.

Rousseau is a very good player. He is going to win some reps. We will see over time how Brown learns from it.

That is my recollection as well.

Payton is a jerk, but he is not wrong about the Jets or the horrible coaching the Broncos have endured.

Training Camp opens today! 2023 Season is upon us!

Part of me (maybe a big part to be honest) wants this to be true. -

Seriously? You make this judgement on the first day of camp because Dodson got the first opportunity? ( likely because of his more veteran status). If you saw Dodson try to play that role last year when Edmunds was out, then there is no way should conclude this. He could not cut it. No matter who starts at this spot there will likely be a drop off, for at least a good while. It will be interesting to see how McD adjusts his D to account for this. -

Nothing will end it at this point, I just hope he does give the media any more BS to speculate on. -
FYI there is already another thread open with updates from camp which is five pages already. The answer to the returner question, for example, is already there.

I hope all he has to say is that was an internal issue, it’s resolved and the details are nobody’s business. -
I am not writing the guy off. Second year in a system with decent coaching and better weapons, we’ll see. I am writing Beasley off though.
-
That may be, but his 6.8 yards per attempt in 2022, good for 24th in the league, would argue against the effectiveness of that ability. Cole Beasley will not help that stat, which is the point.

I appreciate Beasleys accomplishments for two years here that were outstanding and integral to their success. I also appreciate that in 2021 he looked on the decline and they were right to move in from him, especially given his continued distraction. He made one significant play in his redux here last year and other than that was immaterial to detrimental. Even given his less than stellar showing in limited action here he could not help himself in trashing the Bills this offseason. I could not care less what happens to him at this point. Good luck to the Giants. One advantage I suppose is is that Daniel Jones’ effective range of about 4 yards from scrimmage fits in with Beasleys geriatric skill set quite well.

Perhaps, but only slightly. It seems to me that he is modeling himself after Schopp pretty closely and becoming almost as much of a bore. He even has his own yes man flunky now.

They could be better than last year, but I think people are generally overestimating the “Fangio miracle” that is about to occur in Miami. A reading of his record as a DC does not support some massive improvement due to his presence. He had one year of success in Chicago, and a nice run in SF, but other than that his record is unimpressive. SF was 9 years ago. Just saying. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/FangVi0.htm
