You make solid points. I just think generally it is a little early for this kind of analysis from any perspective. We do not know the full details of the contract at this point. Spotrac does not have it and if any other site has posted, I am unaware/could not find. I suspect if the details and terms were hugely favorable to Oliver we would have heard from his agent by now. The guarantees were are fairly low for a player of this caliber which makes me believe the Bills have outs 2 or 3 years in on the new deal, and that there is some significant contract money tied to incentives. I suspect this deal will look even better when full details are known. As it stands even with what we know, the Bills are locking up a solid and valuable starter at a premium position for a fair amount. They could certainly not replace him at this price, and while they could count on finding draft gold, that seems more unlikely than Oliver playing to his potential.

The next time he is right will be the first time. He is nothing but a troll.

I see you are now resorting to claiming that posters who do not agree with you just can’t appreciate your intellect. Too emotional. Just save it. That argument does not wash, ever, especially for you. For what it’s worth, Simon has more credibility around here than you will ever have. You should pick a fight with someone in your weight class. Welcome to ignore.

You should just ignore trolls like this. He has yet to post anything that deserves a response.

As soon as I saw this come across the wire I knew the cats would be screaming here. This is not a surprise to anyone paying attention. This contract makes Oliver the 16th highest paid DT in the league over the life of the contract, for production that is much better than that as you point out. The Bills chose this course rather than opening up a huge hole in the middle of their defense. How shocking. Oliver is not Donald which it seems most Bills fans cannot forgive him or Beane for, but he is one of the top players at his position in the NFL, with upside.

Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)

Because Daboll is trying to build a culture of winning and apparently Toney did not fit the profile he was looking for. It’s not just been availability with Toney but also attitude and other intangibles. KC has been willing to gamble on guys like that, but when you are trying to build from the ground up, probably not the best bet. (See Watkins, Sammy) -

He will go where the most money is. By the way, has anyone else been tracking this? https://clutchpoints.com/nfl-rumors-deandre-hopkins-contract-saint-omni-free-agent if this connection is true, you can pretty much rule out the Bills IMO. -
Nyheim Hines gets it, better than the coaches, better than the GM.

I could not agree more, especially with the last. I would also add, that when you have a player of Josh’s unique skill set, you do not choose to utilize only half of it, or attempt to neuter that natural ability and play making instinct that makes him what he is. If McD did that, then I would be calling for him to be fired, because he would be an idiot. You try to harness that ability and utilize it as efficiently as possible. There will come a day when Allen is no longer a threat on the run. They are a long way off from there. While he is, that threat makes Buffalo’s offense more dangerous to any team. -
This is exactly the type of insightful and intelligent commentary we have come to expect from this particular poster.

Wow. Florio muckraking on the Bills. I am shocked by this development.

Big step up in class for Josh. Good for him.

Now that he is a free agent, I think you should take all his comments about where he wants to play, with what QBs, and that money is not the issue with a grain of salt. In the end, it will be about the money, just like it was with OBJ. -
Ross Tucker ranks NFL Coach’s, places McDermott at #22.

This “analysis” by Tucker is pure clickbait and nothing more. It reads like he put about 5 minutes of thought into it, which is 4 minutes more than I am going to give it. -
Four roster needs the Bills still must address
FLFan replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
True for DT as well. As for ILB, they do not have a player currently at Edmunds level but they certainly have options to compete, and better options than are currently in the open market. I would like to see an upgrade at swing tackle, but not sure what is out there right now that would be better. -
2023 offense has potential to be best in Bills history
FLFan replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Singletary to Harris is the wrong comparison. I always liked him, but Cook was carrying more of the the load and outperforming him late in the year. Cook is the replacement and he is more dynamic without question. Harris is more than an adequate change of pace, and Murray can pound the rock. Devin will not be missed. -

I agree with your points. I do think that Murray provides solid insurance against Harris getting banged up. Overall, I think we are stronger there. The receiver group is definitely better with the promising Shakir in his second year, and the additions of Harty, Sherfield, and Shorter replacing the stiffs we had in those slots last year. If Kincaid can perform, and Dorsey can get all the pieces involved, the Bills will be very dangerous. We are clearly better and deeper at guard, but tackle is a concern. Brown has to step up, and our depth there is poor. My biggest concern for sure. -
I was being sarcastic, as that seems to be the response from many around here if you dare to be positive about the Bills.

You are obviously a hopeless homer, blinded by your rose colored glasses. (Did I miss any?)

My favorite post of every year. First of all, the Jets game is not the home opener. Second of all, eat s…

It is a shame he will do so well out of his mismanagement of the proud Washington franchise, but NFL teams are scarce commodities, much more scarce than billionaires. In any event, his incompetence and arrogance and outright criminality probably shaved billions off what this franchise could have been worth if cared for properly.

When you resort to the rose colored glasses trope to describe people whose objectivity leads them to a different conclusion you simply prove your ignorance. Just so you know.

Of course you do.
