Matt Araiza is Suing Woman who Falsely Accused him
JohnNord replied to wppete's topic in Off the Wall
If I recall the conversation from Graham’s podcast, he wasn’t charged because the victim claimed that she was 18 and attended a local college. That statement might have even been recorded at the party. Under CA law it is not a crime if the victim implicitly states they are above the age of consent. This would be the case in NY where the only thing that matters is the true age of the victim regardless of what the other party is led to believe. So if this happened in NY, Araiza is likely behind bars for statutory rape. This is why there allegedly was some uneasiness with keeping him at OBD after all the details came out, along with the other issues outlined in my previous post -
Matt Araiza is Suing Woman who Falsely Accused him
JohnNord replied to wppete's topic in Off the Wall
I think there were a few factors for releasing Araiza when they did. This has been reported by Tim Graham. #1 Araiza’s camp initially mislead the Bills. Beane alluded to this in the press conference by saying they didn’t have all the information. My guess is that Araiza provided with evidence that he wasn’t involved with the horrific gang rape, but also failed to disclose that he had sex with a 17 year-old. #2 Araiza’s lawyers threw the Bills under the bus on SD by saying they knew all along. According to Graham this infuriated the team. So these factors coupled with the tremendous backlash, bad press, and uneasiness of having him in the building led to his release. -

Well played, Beast -
Signing a Dalvin Cook comes along with ensuring he gets a number of carries per game. If that means less touches for a Breece Hall or opportunities of Aaron Rodgers to chuck it downfield to Garrett Wilson, count me in. Also the NYJ offensive line is somewhat of a question mark with Beckton and an aging Duane Brown at tackle. Last season Cook’s advanced stats weren’t great behind an inconsistent OL.

Sean Payton not a fan of the Jets off-season

I don’t love Payton but hearing hip rip Denver, Hackett and NYJ is hilarious. Peak NFL off-season right here -
Bills to work out TE Jace Sternberger (now signed to 1 year deal)
JohnNord replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
That was my first impression but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him beat out Morris. Morris did some good things as a receiver at TE but he was a terrible blocker. I wouldn’t put money on it but I think Jace has a chance -
Hunter Renfrow a possible camp casualty

This would be an incredible for Buffalo -
Not being facetious here, but how did he show he had something left in the tank? When he signed with Tampa he caught 2 very short passes in the 2 game he played. Once he signed with Buffalo, the only catch of relevance he made was the nice catch and run against Miami. But he also failed to make a challenging, but not impossible catch versus Cincinnati. I think we were all hoping he’d make an impact last winter, but it never really happened. I think Beasley can still find the soft spots in a defense as good as any slot WR. I do wonder if he still can do it physically. There was questions about it before last season, and nothing I watched changed this

Do the Bills Practice as Hard as the Pats? Should They?

“The Patriot Way” = Tom Brady was an elite QB -
The fact that they “parted ways” suggests that it likely wasn’t amicable. This reminds me very much of Russ Brandon’s departure, where it was presented as him stepping down when in reality he was getting the boot. Not saying he left under the same circumstances as Russ - we have no idea - but it seems like PSE wanted him gone. Ronny was the lead on a very important project that really has just gotten started. I don’t think he voluntarily leaves w/o another position lined up.

Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)
JohnNord replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
No one should be surprised. Everyone who knew what they were talking about always said that DHop to Buffalo was a ping shot unless he significantly lowered his demands. Even Beane said so at his press conference. I think it was Hopkins camp and some fans posing as insiders who fans the flames and ended up greatly misrepresenting the situation -
4 cut candidates on Bills’ roster ahead of NFL training camp
JohnNord replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
I 100% get the logic with the back-to-back DE’s in 2021. At the time, the Bills had two age DE’s on the final years of their contract. Epinesa had kind of a “meh” rookie season. The idea was bring the DE’s along slowly which would groom them for a starting role in 2022. I think the hope was that atleast 2/3 DE’s would develope enough to give them a good. pass rush - but it was clear that wasn’t going to be the case. I think that Rosseau has proved to be a solid competent starting DE - though he hasn’t shown dominant pass rush skills consistently. Big year for him. Epinesa appears to be a decent rotational DE who can play special teams. Not really what you want from a 2nd round pick. Boogie can’t even get on the field, so I don’t have high expectations for him. The approach of drafting DE’s wasn’t a bad one - but 2/3 selections were -

I’ve wondered that too. I read that Nick was identified as a “single father.” I’m guessing he’s not together with Eddie‘s mom and that she doesn’t want to be on camera? As far as family visits, based on how many videos were films at the hospital, I get the impression he was there so often that it sadly was not an uncommon situation. I believe they might be out of town as well. This is just my speculation based on following his dad’s Twitter and a few articles. His bravery was just out of this f’n world. Never let his diagnosis get him down and you could see him fight the whole way through -

100% no It’s strange how much you can be impacted by someone you’ve never met. I just feel gutted for Eddie. -
Over the past few years I’ve been following the story of Eddie Mayerick on Twitter. Long story short, his dad Nick grew up in IL. He became a Bills fans after some players treated him so kindly during a game he attended in Indy. He passed down his fandom to his son Eddie. Eddie was born with a heart defect and other medical problems. He has a breathing tube and feeding tube and it appears he’s spent a good portion of his life in hospitals. Over the past few years, Nick has shared his story on Twitter. Despite the medical challenges, Eddie and Nick have remained ridiculously optimistic. Eddie especially has an infectious smile and personality that makes him impossible not to love. You could see that the was medically fragile but that never got him down. Recently it appears his condition has take a turn for the worse and that he is fighting for his life in the hospital. While his dad is staying positive, it doesn’t look good. If you believe in prayers, positive thoughts, good videos, or whatever else - Eddie could use them right about now. Also, some members of Bills Mafia have started a donation/raffle with 100% of the money going to the Mayerik family. Just wanted to pass this along in case anyone is interested in helping out the family either through prayers or monetarily. His dad’s account is below:

I’ve never bought into the fan narrative that Tyrod somehow disrespected by the fan base. Some have even tried to play race which I think is complete BS. Its not like fans look back at Tyrod and say “ugh, he sucked.” But he’s mostly regarded for what he was during that era - a game manager at QB. He was in full game manager mode in 2017 which is why he doesn’t get credit for breaking the drought. The offense was built around Shady running the ball. The passing game was anemic both because of the Rick Dennison’s design and the lack of weapons. Tyrod’s main objective seemed to be to play safe abs protect the football. This was extremely frustrating to watch. I would agree that Tyrod was the victim of both bad luck and elevated expectations from the Rex Ryan Era. Tyrod is not different than a Fitzpatrick or Flutie. The difference is the optics around those QB’s. Both presented themselves as underdogs and had an exciting style of play. Tyrod did as well but he didn’t lean as hard into the underdog angle.

Less fumbles would definitely help but IMO the number looks worse. Off the top of my head I know one was a fumbled snap, another was the botched McKenzie play in KC which wasn’t really on him. For me, it’s balance: - When to take the check down - When to hold on and try to go deep - When to pull the ball down and tun - When to truck a linebacker or hurdle a tackle for a first down Hopefully a better OL and players he can trust more in short areas will help

This isn’t a surprise. Anyone who’s been there knows that it is an older stadium which badly needed to be replaced. I will say that while Highmark is one of the worst stadiums in terms of an actual structure, the game day atmosphere is really good. It was superior to Meadowlands, Cleveland, Foxboro or Miami Gardens. I’ve heard KC has a similar feel
