Apparently the Giants are cutting Boogie

They are solid players but the never really developed into the pass rushing threat that the team really wanted. -
Apparently the Giants are cutting Boogie
JohnNord replied to Snappysnackcakes's topic in The Stadium Wall
Boogie turned out to be a horrendous draft pick. But in his draft class, he seemed to be a relatively safe pick. He was thought of as someone who could step right in with a high floor. But man, did he suck. The best thing Beane did was cut their losses. Still drafting high DE’s who couldn’t give the defense the pass rush they needed had collateral damage. It forced the Bills to roll the dice and overspend with Von Miller which ultimately hasn’t worked out. -

KC vs. Buffalo's record a microcosm of the Allen/Mahomes debate
JohnNord replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s never that simple. Part of what you said is true but it’s more than just coaching. I think Mahomes has shown that despite his stats, he’s still the best QB and best player in the NFL. It’s not close. So while his stats aren’t the best, he’s made a ton of plays already this season. For all of Josh’s great numbers there have been multiple games this season where he’s played very poorly - namely Houston. To say that it’s all coaching, is oversimplifying and somewhat scapegoating the issue. I feel that you are overlooking the Kansas City who has often been overshadowed for their entire run. Not only are they coached well but they have two All Pro’s in Jones and McDuffie and some other very talent surrounding them. Classic example of excellent drafting and development. McDermott’s beaten Reid the past three seasons. Two of those wins were one possession games. Is that not a game of inches? “Won a bunch of games” Mitch’s record with Pittsburgh was 3-4 -
Defense: 1st Half vs 2nd Half - What is going on?
JohnNord replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think there’s some truth to that given how many snaps the defense plays in Nickel. Id also agree about the Baltimore game. I’ll have to disagree with just about everything else you said. The Bills played a bland zone defense in the first half. They switched up to man in the second half which was probably the reason for their success. So he did break his scheme on Sunday. I’ll also disagree that it doesn’t work for the 3-4 top teams. They’ve beaten KC three years in a row in the regular season - so it has worked. What was different in the postseason? Poor play from every WR not named Shakir and a guy off the couch at LB trying to defense Travis Kelce. When the Bills lost to Cincy the entire team played like crap. Not just the defense. I swear that people think McDermott controls every play call on offense and defense -
the Daboll/Schoen regime - on the brink, it seems
JohnNord replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Daboll’s first season in NYG was a lot like McDermott’s in BUF. The difference is that McDermott/Beane managed expectations in 2018 knowing it would be a “reset year.” Daboll and Schoen re-signed the team’s “franchise QB” so they didn’t have that luxury. When you watch the Hard Knocks draft episode, Daboll is very stoic about the Nabers selection and it almost looks like Schoen is acting excited rather than being genuine. Nabers is a great player but they knew they were screwed without drafting a WB. I think they really were hoping for a way to trade up for Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye. I don’t think it ends well for them - but maybe Mara gives them one more season? -
Also talent… it’s probably easier to script when you have Diggs, Sanders, Davis and Beasley as your WR’s in 2021 than it is with Hollins, Shakir, Samuel in Coleman in 2024. To your point on execution. Brady dialed up a perfect call on 3rd down to his best receiver who got wide open but he simply dropped the football. That’s an example of an unsuccessful drive that would go against the OC in this metric - despite him not really having an involvement.

Defense: 1st Half vs 2nd Half - What is going on?
JohnNord replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Like most things that aren’t positive about this team, I am certain some will find a way to fault McDermott. Maybe part of it is his scheme which aims to keep everything in front of the defense and protects against big plays. The other factor is that the defense has had a lot of injuries and teams are taking advantage of the weaknesses - Williams, Spector, Lewis, Hamlin, etc. The 6th round pick the Bills signed from the PS last week was terrible when he was on the DL. To the credit of McDermott and Babich both have made adjustments and found a way to slow teams in the second. Remember how the knock on McDermott was “he just doesn’t make adjustments!” LOL -
He did and then left two plays later and was ruled OUT. It could have been because of the score at that point. But it could be “something to monitor” as any generic beat report would say!

I saw this on TV…two punishing blocks on a well-executed screen. We need more of this
-
Williams was a knee but he was ruled as “probable” to return. I don’t think he did because of the score. Bernard had what appears to be a low ankle sprain. We don’t know much but it’s possible he might have to miss a game or two.

If Brian Daboll gets fired, would you take him as OC?

I’d wait to see how the season unfolds. Bills fans forget it’s only Week 7. Season isn’t even halfway done. -
Deshaun Watson may be done for the season
JohnNord replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
For their own sanity, sure. But they are 1-6 and all but eliminated from postseason. I’m sure Williams wins a few games and makes the choice to not bench Watson more idiotic -

They can’t even rejoice because his contract is guaranteed -
He backed himself into a corner with the holdout before realizing the team had all the leverage. This is his new agent’s attempt to save face. I hardly think Reddick is going to be anymore motivated to play for the Jets than he was the previous year in Philly. There’s no chance he’s in NY next season.

Mason Rudolph to start vs. Bills tomorrow
JohnNord replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
This isn’t true. Callahan inherited Levis. I don’t think he wants him and doesn't view him as a franchise QB. He’ll likely draft a QB this offseason. -

JohnNord replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Higher floor, lower ceiling than Levis. He’s a game manager which could important if the Titans defense plays well. But he’s also not going to be beat you on his own like some QB’s. His best attribute is that he’s not going to make the dumb turnovers that Levis will. -
What exactly is the real story with Mike Edwards?
JohnNord replied to Jukester's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ll agree it doesn’t make sense but at the same time, I don’t the reason he’s not active is because of Special Teams. There has to be something he’s not doing well in practice -
Tua’s Broken Dome (now being placed on IR-out at least 4 games)

Same… how many times does this have to happen? -
He’s going to start breaking so many team records. We’re going to look back and realize how lucky we were to have Josh as QB in Buffalo.
-
He’s showing some progress. Just wish he came down with the 50/50 ball by the endzone. Josh threw a beautiful ball that he couldn’t hang on to.
-
Given his athleticism he’s always flashed but Williams was an absolute liability on the field last season. This year hasn’t been perfect but he’s shown steady progress which is what you want to see. While he still can get taken advantage of, he’s shown some consistency. I think he has potential and given the McDermott/Babich track record of LB development I’m optimistic

I heard fans are mad about this. It’s like everything Haslam touches related to NFL turns to crap.
