  1. beano gonna take care of some internals: 1. upcoming 27 cuts will eat a little more cap space - good thing we dont cut many picks as the late-rounders have modest dead cap space... 2. PS cap space plus budget for in-season unknowns - injuries, vet depth signing, trade deadline move, etc 3. maybe....one vet contract maintenance ??? its gotta work for the Bills now more than before
  2. as a matter of fact, yes, but that would require a grasp of facts and reading comprehension skills, keep the job...IF you have one
  3. at end of the day: Beano is going to miss: 2nd round for Ford, 3rd rounder for Kelvin Benjamin come to mind Josh is going to throw the occasional INT our RBs are going to fumble once-in-awhile WRs going to drop passes as well... OL gonna jump early and hold on touchdowns - happened Saturday DBs gonna hold on DL sacks - happened Saturday we got 28 starts from Cody, we save about 500k in cap space(1.4M in salary gone, minus 900k in dead), got a fifth rounder back which is where Beano excels, Ford cant swing to tackle which is something the draft department now knows better how go to gauge, tihik RAS (Doyle, Brown). https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/arizona-cardinals/cody-ford-29074/stats-valuation/
  4. am expecting more use of the double TE offense has me keeping one more TE Morris over Sweeney or vice versa and cutting Blackshear, 4th RB is a dead roster spot, and returns handled by Shakir (P) and Cook (KO)...expect several Bills to be waived picked-up or traded in next 7-10 days. Its the pre-season....Denver didnt play any starters so the results were skewed somewhat and yes our backups played well, and that reflects good coaching, cohesive-teamwork not just talent...
  5. yeah I checked his draft card with D Brugler (the Beast)...he went undrafted, is slow-footed, runs a 5.1 40-time, must not have shown separation, blocking skills, improvement, etc
  6. Nelson (TE) , Josh Allen, Perreault, Lafontaine, Peca, Eichel, Resitsma,, Blank - sorry I stopped the show me thinks..
  7. nice snag, thanks for the update, my new guy to follow over the next month and watch during second-half pre-season games with the 3rd and 4th stringers...
  8. got to get some live fire reps at game speed esp with some new O personnel, new O coord calling plays, etc... loose the season-opener ? this becomes reason # 1 as to why...
  9. as a kid went the last game at the War Memorial (Rockpile) a 21-21 tie against the Lions...history says count on Bills fans taking home a piece of something on their own... Last game at the Rich/Ralph/WhateverBank/HighWaterMark will be a highly coveted ticket and spirited event, my hope is that is an AFC championship and the Super Bowl parade starts or ends at the old ballyard for one helluva party and goodbye celebration...count me in....
  10. its the qbs stupid - some very expensive ones but only one really good one in this div...glad the Bills get this div this season...
  11. Pete Axthelm, Jimmy the Green Snyder, Hank Goldberg...those old school ,Lincoln Town Car personalities, that you wouldnt-couldnt-shouldnt have taken seriously would actually be entertaining...makes you wonder what analysis, metrics, facts, etc (or lack thereof) would go into their "professional" predictions... Back in the 80s, Axe would call a woeful Green Bay-Tampa Bay game, the "Bay of Pigs" for example rest in peace Hank, and keep picking those loosers from the best view above...
  12. Sept 19, 1971 - attended my first Bills game, home opener at War Memorial (Rockpile) vs the Cowboys - lots of points scored, Dennis Shaw threw for several TDs and OJ scored one right in front of me....Tony Greene debut, smallest player on the field...Craig Morton was Cowboys qb, not Staubach, and Walt Garrison has a big day as did the Cowboys O...many years later ran into a friend of Tony Greene, who would bet anyone-everyone willing that he could beat them in a race running backward while you ran forward. Saw some beer bottles fly aimed at a cop on the field, a fight near me, a dude caught the ball after an XP and outran the cops with the ball until he got to the other side where the rest of cops gang tackled him and cuffed him...just the usual Bills game at the time, another loss and the fans entertaining themselves "Buffalo style"...
  13. James Harris had a gun for an arm and should have become a starter for the Bills but we lacked patience and vision and most of all talent in our front office thru the late 60s and most of the 70s...sigh..
  14. back at that time, the daze of my misspent youth...I thought we were on to something with the rebuild...had a very talented group of WR in Briscoe and Haven Moses, JD Hill (2 of those 3 were number 1 picks)...couple of early second-round picks in Dennis Shaw (qb) and Jan White (TE) and then the back-to-back USC number 1 picks OJ and AC (who made more fame together in the LAPD White Ford Bronco chase scene than we "initially"[pardon the pun] thought)...just goes to show we didn't have the right qb and our TE woes continued for decades...then the bad trades of Briscoe, Moses, James Harris, Dunaway, etc and the missed drafts of Patulski, Dokes, Nebraska LB Twins (Ruud, Nelson), Gant, etc, etc...no wonders we made the playoffs once during the 1970s (wildcard loss to Pitts) and the 0h for the decade against the Dolphins...SMH
  15. Marlin Brisoce has passed away - One our better receivers during the early 70s -played 3 years for Bills - October 1968, after being drafted by the Denver Broncos of the American Football League (AFL), he became the first black starting quarterback in professional American football and established a Denver rookie record of 14 touchdown passes that season. He played professionally for nine years, including Bills and Dolphins https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34157179/marlin-briscoe-first-black-starting-qb-afl-dies-age-76 : wiki info Briscoe was 5-foot-10 and 177 pounds when the AFL's Broncos took him in the 14th round of the 1968 draft at the age of 22. The Broncos intended to convert Briscoe to cornerback, but Briscoe had negotiated for a chance to compete for the quarterback position.[3] On September 29, 1968, starter Steve Tensi suffered a broken collarbone, and backup Joe DiVito was spotty. Head coach Lou Saban summoned Briscoe from the sidelines in the fourth quarter against the Boston Patriots to give him a try. Briscoe's first play was a 22-yard completion. On his second series he orchestrated an 80-yard touchdown drive. He completed a 21-yard pass and ran for 38 more himself, carrying it the last 12 yards for the score. A week later, on October 6, he became the first starting African-American quarterback in the AFL. Briscoe threw 14 touchdown passes that year in just 5 starts, including 4 on Nov 24 against Buffalo; both are still Broncos rookie records. He also threw for 335 yards in that game, a rookie record that stood until John Elway broke it in 1983, and one of only three 300+ yard rookie games in franchise history. He completed 41.5 percent of his passes, and averaged 7.1 yards per attempt and his 17.1 yards per completion led the American Football League (and ranks 18th all-time). He also ran for 308 yards and three touchdowns.[3] Before the 1969 season started, Briscoe, still determined to play quarterback, discovered that head coach Saban intended to use Pete Liske as the starter, so he asked to be released.[4] He went to the AFL's Buffalo Bills where he was turned into a receiver, since the Bills already had superstar Jack Kemp, former Pro Bowler Tom Flores, and James Harris, another black quarterback with a more prototypical 6-foot-4 and 210-pound frame. Briscoe never played quarterback again, but he enjoyed a splendid career. He led Buffalo in touchdown catches in each of his three seasons there and in receptions twice. In 1970 he was in the top two in receptions and receiving yards and became an All-Pro. After the AFL-NFL merger, he played in the National Football League from 1970 though 1976, mostly with American Football Conference teams. In 1971, the Bills traded Briscoe to the Miami Dolphins for a first-round draft pick Joe Delamielleure, who developed as a Hall of Fame guard. Briscoe went on to win a pair of Super Bowls. Briscoe led the undefeated 1972 team with four touchdown receptions and was the leading receiver on the Dolphins in 1973,[5] catching more passes than future Pro Football Hall of Famer, Paul Warfield. Briscoe made stops with the San Diego Chargers, and Detroit Lions[6] before ending his career in 1976 with the New England Patriots. He had 10 receptions for 136 yards and 1 touchdown in 14 regular season games for the New England Patriots in 1976. He caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Steve Grogan in the Patriots 48–17 rout of the Oakland Raiders at Schaefer Stadium on October 3, 1976. Early in his career, Briscoe was intercepted by Boston Patriots AFL All Star Defensive Back Leroy Mitchell in Denver's 35–14 rout of the Patriots at Fenway Park on November 3, 1968. He is the only player to have been intercepted by a Patriot player and later to have caught a touchdown as a Patriot receiver.[7]
  16. was with the org from the beginning 1960-1997 - I remember BN articles about him dispensing salt tablets during 1970s training camp practices on hot days... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Abramoski started as player got hurt became a trainer, and made the Bills Wall of Fame often volunteered for NY state special olympics as a trainer an original...one of us...gone but not forgotten...now taping ankles in heaven...rest in peace Eddie Abe...
  17. As part of Tight End University..Dawson Knox won the Boys Club charity event with the mo$t donation$: the prize is 50K to his hometown - Brentwood Tenn and 50k to his NFL city Boys Clubs the Mafia rose to the occasion cuz thats what we do - support our team and city unconditionally a lot of you gave - high five extract of the facts from the BN today: On the last day to donate was Monday, and by then, Knox once again had full control of the lead. His total ballooned and is now listed as $56,985. Okonkwo finished with $39,263. O.J. Howard, signed by the Bills in March, came in third, with $7,520. Howard missed last year’s TEU due to an Achilles injury, but he is excited to make this summer’s event. Jalen Wydermyer, a Bills rookie undrafted free agent, came in 14th out of the 78 tight ends listed on the leaderboard. Now, three Bills tight ends will get a chance to soak in more from position-group peers around the league for a few days. They won't be the only Bills on hand. George Kittle, one of the organizers, said last month on the "Pat McAfee Show" that Josh Allen was one of the quarterbacks he was recruiting to throw at this year’s event, and Allen did indeed make it there for TEU.
  18. been a two bye advocate for long time the thursday nite games should not be played with teams playing the Sunday game before, short rest-recoop plus compressed planning, travel, logistics, stress, etc every thurs nite game should be played with teams coming off of byes and two byes should accomodate this and gives a better product. shorten to two pre-season games, teams can add a joint practice, 1 or 2 days as a substitute...scant national TV coverage of the pre-season, i think 6 games total this upcoming pre-season is not a significant loss of NFL revenue.
  19. 5 days left as of 540 PM June 15 Knox was at $22.044 in first place and Kelce was in second with $4517 +$17,527 (and 13 seconds) OJ Howard in 6th place as well - not bad for a new guy Knox in first place with 890 donors (me and you) and OJ Howard is in second place....
  20. 6 months into ACL tear recovery ? this becomes a question at 9 months around mid-Sept
  21. runs a 5+ 40 time, questionable blocking skills, not going to help on special teams, fine with being on the PS and developing into something hopefully
  22. back in the days of my misspent youth, on those sunday evenings I regret missing that episode of mutual of omaha's wild kingdom in favor of watching a sabres game
