Virtual off season = trade pick 30?
In Summary replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Barring the ability to acquire more value than you're giving up, I'd prefer to draft a player. I like having young talent with fewer injuries on affordable rookie contracts. -
Would Josh Allen ever consider a team friendly contract?
In Summary replied to sirebors's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I expect Allen to seek his market value. Is he a resident of NY or CA? If so, seems he would also factor in state income taxes when negotiating. -
Agree. With the exception of Allen, Beane's record doesn't justify trading up. I also want an infusion of rookies to make the team because Allen's next contract will require us to have contributions from as many (or more?) affordable players as we have now. Bills are positioned well to not chase players or positions.

A better 1-tech DT will make Oliver and Edmunds more effective and lessen the pressure on our safeties to make so many run stops. Hanging this responsibility solely on Star wouldn't be my preference. I'd love to see a 1-tech in rounds 2-4.

Trade down and take Pat Freiermuth

The player the Bills want is Knox without the drops. -
Being more than one deep at THE most important position. Being able to accommodate the scenario where #1 is out a game or two and you still expect to win. Smart.

What’s your earliest memory of the Buffalo Bills?
In Summary replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First was a game on tv in the 70s. 2nd memory was watching Ferguson play with a bad ankle in the playoffs. Saw that on a TV in a Sears store. -
Breaking: Daryl Williams signs 3 year extension

Nice to be in a position where we don't HAVE to start Ford. Nice to be in a position where we can draft best OL available (at whatever position) and not feel pressured into taking only a tackle. -
WFT going from cheerleaders to a coed dance team

"The Buffalo Bills, in conjunction with Shea's Buffalo, The Spirit of Youth, and Wegman's bring you a spectacular cultural event-filled Sunday starting at 9AM!! See local stars, taste exotic treats, hear the singing, see the dance, get your blood pressure checked, take a nap or talk business in your suite!! (Note: Game at 1pm may interfere with scheduled activities.) -
Bills submit rule proposal change on interviews
In Summary replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For any coach to take an interview they are not only considering the position, but the uprooting of their family, leaving friends, buying/selling a house, etc. Of course it's distracting. -
Probably right. Ted had a range of reported weights. I mention those two guys as examples of tackles I remember as dominant and frustrating to opponents. When the Bills had the Ted Washington - Pat Williams tandem they were solid up the middle. I felt Wilfork could shed engage/disengage as needed. I don't expect to reproduce Washington-Williams exactly as now at least one of your DT's (even front) is expected to generate some pass rush. Just hoping to see less 2nd level runs that require our safeties to make the tackle.

Seeing Shelvin listed as 6'3", 346 lb. Ted Washington: 6'6", 365 lb. Vince Wilfork: 6' 1 3/8", 340 lb. I know it's not a weight competition, but Shelvin's big enough. Someone else can tell me about his ability to anchor or lateral movement but if he were no worse than Star his first year...........

Do Barmore and Oliver hypothetically play on the field at the same time or is Barmore also an NFL (not college) 3-tech?

Trade up or trade back in this year’s draft?
In Summary replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every year I remind myself we'll never get all the pieces we need. I think with the 1-tech DT figured out, the Bills get a more effective Oliver and Edmunds so with one position fixed, you upgrade two others. Maybe Star is still the guy, but a big DT is a need to me. In much the same way, if the Bills can't get a new RB and TE, a solid OL player could boost the running game with the players we have. Odd for a such a talented team to have so many perceived needs. -
Trade up or trade back in this year’s draft?
In Summary replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hold or trade back. Only trade up for a QB IMO. Beane reaches and ends up with Cody Ford and Edmunds. Also, you have to decide whether you're going to cut down the number of rookies you bring in BEFORE they ever step on your practice field with your coaches and get evaluated in your system OR you bring in a full compliment of rookies to evaluate (again) on your field with your coaches in your system with your players etc. and do a proper Bills evaluation for a month or so before making cuts. To many holes to get cute trading up. Get these guys into camp and look at them then. -
Was that our easiest playoff loss to take?
In Summary replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wasn't near as bad as the Super Bowl losses. Dallas losses were awful. Then you have to consider the Ronnie Harmon drooped pass loss against Cleveland. -
Like Albert Haynesworth without the head stomping. I'll say Oliver is at minimum good enough for certain packages if a big DT can keep him clean.
