Okay so how fine of hairs are we splitting here? Mahomes sat out his whole rookie year and Allen had to play his. Does that count for anything? Is there another non-point to make?
And hey it’s definitely a nice thing to wish for sure - Daboll is as instrumental as anyone in molding Allen into an MVP quarterback. I don’t fault you for wishing.
But decision makers on other teams (especially on teams with young QBs) are salivating right now, waiting to throw money at Daboll. Will he be a good HC? Maybe. Will he get a chance? Absolutely.
Well “right now” if you’re ignoring the very recent past accomplishments of mahomes (MVP, Super Bowl win) and are looking at, what, week to week evaluations? Sure, they’re equal I guess. Seems like a fool’s errand to look at it like that though.
Fantasyland. Daboll isn’t turning down an NFL head coaching job for more money, not under this head coach. Keep dreaming though.
It’d be a different story if he was serving under an old head coach, headed for retirement and Daboll was given insurances (as well as a raise) that he’d be guaranteed the job. But McD is a young coach, who just signed an extension. No way no how Daboll sticks around if he’s offered a HC job. Silly to even entertain the thought.
That really is a valid point though. One of the only ones you can still make comparing the two. Can’t really point to comparative stats anymore; both are awesome. But mahomes has won, allen has not. That’s a fact. Not sure what point you’re trying to make here.
A long time ago. My stance on him is fair or not, by the end of his time in GB he was actively making himself look foolish and well past his sell by date. Rodgers resurgence under LaFleur only underscores my view. And yet MM gets a chance to coach a very popular NFL franchise with one of the best young QBs in the game? Yeah nah. MM is trash.
All the roster flexibility stuff that @MAJBobbymentioned would be great honestly. Given the other roster restrictions there’s no reason for a hard and fast 6 week IR rule.
