  1. Sarcasm- a form of irony that is widely used in English especially when people are being humorous. Generally the sarcastic speaker or writer means the exact opposite of the word they use, often intending to be rude or to laugh at the person the words are addressed to.
  2. Damn the numbers, I still think Kelly is the best WR in this class.
  3. It still wouldn't make a difference, correlation does not equal causation. ANYBODY who works with numbers will tell you that. I guarantee if you input overall wins over the last decade, with frequency drafted early at any position, side of the ball, group of players (like OL or DL) the correlation will not be stronger then .35 or -.35 for any of the positions you use. Your evidence when left without the outside variable of human manipulation will erode to nothing of statistical merit. Hence the reason no GM uses formulas such as this or ever will. All teams value certain positions more then others, so GM's balance the risk of taking the 4th best CB or DT, and having him bust, then taking the first TE or OLB and having more potential for him to pan out. Some teams run systems that require more players at certain positions. Some teams fill needs by plugging in FA's. Each team is different. Over the long run you don't just draft a position, and magically become successful. It's far more important to draft good players, period. Any GM in football would agree with that.
  4. My birthday is May 13th. I just got an early present.
  5. Jesus, rebirth of the Purple People Eaters.
  6. Even if that was proven I still wouldn't agree that it has statistical merit. I'm not acting like the top dog, but I know I do more football statistic work then any 5 posters combined threw out the course of the year. I've had to of logged well over 7500 hours with football stats on excel. Irregardless of that, one thing I have learned beyond any reasonable doubt, is correlation does not equal causation. I find correlations all the time, some dating back for decades, but inevitably these correlations have zero impact on being able to accurately predict future statistical patterns. In this case I applaud the efforts to bring statistics or tangible evidence to any discussion, as few even attempt to do that, especially to the extent the original poster did, HOWEVER, the original poster would never be able to prove that drafting at blank position, for blank percentage, of blank early picks, means anything to overall chances of success. If that was the case all GM's would follow the same pattern, because by definition, that pattern would be the most successful. Instead, as we all know getting a good player at any position means more to the overall success level of teams, and the formula in which those players are drafted for all teams, both good and bad, is completely unique to that team.

  8. Crowell is a good cover 2 OLB, but not the ideal cover 2 OLB. Looking at the market this year you know he will demand a heck of a lot of money next year. I think a pretty good chance exists that he will not be in Buffalo after this season. If the Bills feel the same the need at the position becomes MUCH larger then anybody has given it credit for. Mayo is a stud, and perfect fit for what we do on defense. He combines great speed, size, football smarts etc. If most the top talent is off the board (as projected), and we stay put, I see few who we can feel as confident in as Mayo. So what you have is a great player, fitting our scheme perfectly, in a potential need area..... We've shown in this regime that we will pick who we want no matter what the gurus say. As it stands Mayo is getting closer and closer to not even being considered a reach. We have a defensive based head coach. He's one of a handful of players we know the Bills have brought in for an interview. The more you break it down, the less he belongs in the "surprising" thread.
  9. Ever say things out of anger or frustration that are in the heat of the moment? If people summarized your maturity and character by these isolated situation would that be indicative of who you are? The guy was questioned before the dust even settled. He didn't even walk off the field before he was inundated by reporters . This was very important to him, for a million reasons. Nobody from Oklahoma ever had a problem with him. They all vouch for his character, I think most teams are putting the situation in proper context. Overweight and out of shape in the midst of an injury, which is why he couldn't perform. How in shape can you expect him to be when you can't perform any physical activity and his body is used to extremely high levels of physical activity? He's not supposed to be a speed racer. He's a possession/red zone/over the middle player, who on film, has very good playing speed (not according to just me, but several scouts, including our own). If you judge even WR's by just 40 times, you'll miss a thousand times over. For who he is, and what he brings, his low 40 only devalues him a round, maybe two.
  10. That would be my guess for a shocker pick.

  12. Your logic has so many holes it's beyond comprehension. Without getting incredibly in depth the only real fair way to compare is only counting the games one or the other attempted all the passes in, especially if your counting rushing yards. It also means counting all rushers towards the average yards per rushing attempt, not just Lynch. You might say Lynch didn't start all the games for JP, then I might say thats counteracted by the improved RYPA Losman brings with scrambling, which I saw in numerous games after I broke this down. Before I digress to much lets get back to the idiocy..... You don't factor in the run defense/pass defense strength the two faced, or the weather conditions Trent faced at the end of the year that JP never faced. Conditions that screamed stack the box. I'll break it down for you in a fair way, but before I do I know one thing for sure, Evans should always have better numbers with JP then Trent. Wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. They both excel at the same thing, namely getting the ball down field. Thats why they both got drafted together, and thats why Lee was crying for JP the whole year. If you want to build an offense around a QB who can only go deep, because his best wide outs best strength is to go deep, I'll show you a thousand ways to defend that. Actually, I don't have to show you anything, just watch the Bills games during the JP era when he and this team was riddled with inconsistency. On to the FAIR comparison. JP started and finished Denver Pittsburgh Cincinnati Miami New England Jacksonville Average rush defense faced: 4.3RYPA Average pass defense faced: 198.7YPPG Average Temperature: 60 Average Wind: 7.8mph Bills average RYPA in these games: 4.06 Evans average yards in these games: 51.8 Trent started and finished vs New York Jets Dallas Baltimore Washington Miami Cleveland New York Giants Philadelphia Average rush defense faced: 3.9RYPA Average pass defense faced: 211YPPG Average Temperature: 50.4 Average Wind: 13.9mph Bills average RYPA in these games: 4.05 Evans average yards in these games: 49.1 Edwards and our RB's faced run defenses .4 yards better then JP and finished with a YPC average of .01 yards worse. JP and Lee faced pass defenses 12.3 yards better then Trent and Lee. JP and Lee averaged 2.7 more yards in then Trent and Lee did. JP averaged playing in temperatures 9.4 degrees warmer then Trent, and with 6.1MPH winds less then Trent. Trent played in three times the amount of precipitation then JP. Putting stats in context suck for those who don't, and form theories based on that. If you wanna come back latter, I'll be watching you got served.
  13. Bingo. How can nobody else see this? Jauron has never had a QB, or any talent on offense to work with. Makes sense to throw it 30 times a game in that situation....
  14. Type in "the zoo" on you tube. It will pick up several covers that band did, not just journey, they got Bon Jovi, Boston, Rush etc... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pf-2Rk_uIPU Boston http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPK3-33ouhw...feature=related Bon Jovi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDhOYktUhyQ Rush His ability to sound like the original singers is flat out crazy. Regardless of what people think of him replacing Perry he's an incredible talent in his own right.
  15. Pathetic maybe. But you gotta admit the dude sounds just like him.
  16. I might be living under a rock to just have heard about this, and I apologize if it's already been posted. The resemblance to Steve Perry is uncanny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nnNji6s3ck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88nfiZ-yy5Q
  17. Trent is not a guy that picked a school based on his football aspirations. I've read he would retire early just to pursue humanitarian efforts. The school he picked was relevant to his ambitions, and future goals. Retiring early is something people might laugh at given his youth, but most articles point to him having greater importance in people, and those who are less fortunate then football. This isn't a guy who got in the spotlight and decided to make a difference. He decided to make a difference as a teenager and his current job just gives him that much more ability to do so. I know in my life I've met few men of such character. I'm glad we have a person like that whose just as dedicated to the game as he is to those less fortunate then us.
  18. I love how some are calling this a tantrum. The guy flat out delivered on the field. His on field performance had him projected to make several million dollars more then what he now stands to earn. Lets say you kicked ass at your job and made great money. Then your company made you perform an aptitude test that you didn't do so well at. They then cut your salary in half. Would you be throwing a "tantrum". You can debate the analogy, but the guy is getting screwed more then Jenna Jamison at this point.
  19. I REALLY like Fred Davis, but the difference between him and Carlson is minimal, and I actually think Carlson would be a better fit for the Bills. On film he plays with Jeremy Shockey type passion, but without the attitude and immaturity. His ability to stretch the field is grossly underrated, and he's probably the second or third best blocking TE in this draft. I like everything about the guy and would be thrilled if he ended up with the Bills.
  20. Welcome. Let me give you a taste a what to expect. Why the hell did you post this on the main forum? You know the board has a area for new members.... Frigging LAMP post, must be a pretty lonely guy. Hell, a guy like you would probably support the team if they moved to Canada. J/K by the way. Enjoy the bi-polarness that is the stadium wall, and be sure to wear a condom at all times.
  21. Good stuff, thanks for the heads up. That show NEVER gets old.
  22. Dude, it wasn't a dick, it was a rocket ship. Pervert.
