Trades would make it almost impossible to make it. Let's say you get to pick 25, from 25-32 there are normally a good amount of trades to get someone before the end of the round.

Which 6-8 players/positions will the Bills pay big money to?
hjnick replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With the cap going up and Mahomes will probably get his 40MIL, yeah, I think Josh will get somewhere from 35-38MIL, IF he continues his progression. -

I think what he is saying is Linebackers and Safeties are like RB's on the offensive side... they are needed, but you can get good ones in middle late rounds so you don't pay them premium money that you can use on other positions that are harder to fill, like DE and CB. -

This was a topic I was thinking of bringing up but more of a 'which positions would you pay big money contracts to?' instead of people. For me, this has nothing to do with the player or how good they are, just where you want to distribute the money at which position. I can't see us paying top dollar for 2 linebackers. That is a lot of money at one position, when you could use it for a more impact player at DE or CB. A couple of years down the road when we are paying Allen (35MIL+), Diggs (15MIL+ new contract?), Dawkins (13-15MIL+), White (15-18MIL+), plus field a team... The money will dry up fast. -

All Gunner's Draft stuff 2020 edition...
hjnick replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gunner, great list and job well done. If you don't mind me asking, how do you make this assessment? Just the eye test? How do you differentiate between a 1st / 1st/2nd / 2nd / 3rd and so on? Do you compare to other years or is there a threshold for being a 1st round grade, etc? I'm really curious how the process works. Thanks. -

Ok. I guess it just depends on what you consider 'the best' QB. I would think record to team would figure into it. No doubt that Marino was a great QB, but for Kelly NOT to be considered the top QB in the AFC East during the superbowl run just doesn't sound right. He did lead an innovative offense where he made the calls.

Who was better than Jim Kelly and the 4 superbowls that he led us to?

Why trade that many picks when you can just tank this year w/ Stidham and get Trevor next year... That would be a little smarter.

Brandon Beane - Please Draft Offensive Playmakers
hjnick replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I totally agree with you about wanting a stable of running backs. This does not mean that I think Singletary is not good, I do and I like him as a RB, BUT we should be drafting a RB in every draft to keep bringing in fresh legs into the stable. Once we have used the RB for 4-5 years, let them go to another team if they like OR sign a team friendly deal to stay. We will have 3-4 other RB's just waiting to take their place. -
Brandon Beane - Please Draft Offensive Playmakers
hjnick replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For me at 54... As long as it is a RB, WR, OT, DE or CB, whatever Beane thinks is best for the team. If a Mims, Shenault, Higgins type is there, I'd be good with that. If one of the 3 top RB's is there, I'd be good with that. I don't know the OT, DE, or CB's as well as those positions, so if Beane like that position better, then ok. -
