My prediction is that Kwity Paye starts to slide and Beane goes up to 25 to get him.

Good for Alex. He was able to come back and go out on his own terms. It’s probably best before he has any other issues with the leg...

Who are the 49er's going to take at 3
whorlnut replied to wagne591's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What does it matter? The first two picks are set. There is no reason to blow smoke at 3... -
I agree but unless it’s Farley I’m not interested. We already have an elite corner in Tre. Not every team has one elite corner, what makes you think McD would require two? He has had a history of rolling with one elite guy and one guy that is another tier below. We already have that in Wallace and Jackson. Besides, if we do take a corner, it would make more sense to get one in round two or three where a really good one can be had. We need to start planning ahead for the days when Beasley and sanders are both gone. Beane said in his presser that you don’t wanna lose your fastball. Our fastball is our high octane passing game. If we can inject another top level talent in the offense we can keep rolling for years to come.

Imo, this is a weak draft at edge rusher and too many on here think we need to go that direction at 30. I truly feel Kwity Paye is the only one worth it at 30. There is way too many question marks on the other rushers.

The one thing I hope we come out of the draft with is...

For me, the only defensive players I would be ok with in round one are Kwity Paye and Caleb Farley. Of course guys like Surtain and Parsons would be great but they will be gone. I told a guy the other day that my bold prediction for the draft is Paye starts to slide and Beane makes a small jump to get him. He offers something we don’t already have at the position. Speed and twitch. I could also see Farley being the guy if he slips due to injury. Other than that, give me offense all day. We are a pass first offense and Beasley is on the last year of his deal and Sanders is only signed for this year. Need to think ahead. Guys like Kadarius Toney and Elijah Moore are very intriguing and would shore up that offense for the next 4-5 years after Beasley and Sanders. I also think someone like Etienne or Harris might be in play. Also...Beasley is on the last year of his deal. Slot receiver is a huge need after this year. Not to mention that our success last year was mostly due to the passing attack. Can’t let it become a weak point... -
Never been so disinterested in a draft

As long as Beane doesn’t take another lumbering defensive end that they will ask to lose a bunch of weight I’m happy with whoever they take at 30... -
Jesse James drawing interest from Bills
whorlnut replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We were linked to him a few years back. Seems the Bills usually get their guy even if it’s not the first attempt. I actually expect this to happen. -
Who’s the ONE guy you want the Bills to draft no matter what!!?
whorlnut replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall
No way. This might have made sense 5 years ago, but this team is ready to win NOW. Go get an impact player and take the next step. Good grief... -
Who is the one player you DON’T want the Bills to draft @30
whorlnut replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe so, but we needed a qb. We don’t need to draft another DT, thus my response. We also don’t need another slow defensive end. -

A defensive tackle or an edge that doesn’t have elite twitch and speed. We already drafted on of those last year... -

Travis Etienne or Kadarius Toney. Either one would put this offense over the top. Each of them bring speed and elusiveness to their respective position groups. Those are my guys. -
Boom. Well said. I hated going through draft after draft watching other teams take a shot at their guy and we sat there and took a corner or another defensive player almost year after year. Then we parlayed that into “fixing” the most important position in sports with some type of journeyman late rounder. It was nauseating.

No thanks.

Virtual off season = trade pick 30?
whorlnut replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
“Next year” isn’t going to help this year. We can win it all this year. Can’t mess with the window of opportunity. -

We hit a home run with Diggs. You can’t expect it to work that well every time. Draft a guy... -
These are my exact thoughts. I think Beane and McD will be doing a lot of homework to separate the me guys from the ones with logical concerns or reasoning.
-
It’s just something to think about I guess. I just feel Beane and McD look at character and glove of the game more than others. I’m not saying they want choir boys, but I’m sure they will be looking into why each of these guys opted out.
-
For clarity purposes, I just want to say that I’m talking about players in the draft.
-
I had this discussion with another member of this board recently and we both feel that there is a possibility that Beane and McD might not view opt out players the same way as prospects as they might guys that chose to chose to play in 2020. The reason being is that they always talk about targeting guys that are great teammates and love football. Now, before I get blasted for this, we both agreed that there may be context to this. Some guys may have had health concerns related to COVID, and there may have been other personal reasons that I’m sure Beane and McD would understand. My argument is against those guys that were perfectly healthy and were prima donas that just chose not to play. To me, that’s likely to be considered a red flag to the powers that be. I fully believe they will do their research and if they do take an opt out player, that they are very confident they did it for the right reasons. They might see it as quitting on their team in some cases and might look at it as a character flag. I’m sure some of you that are pounding the table for a guy that opted out will hate this idea, but I feel we all have a really good idea of how the coach and gm think at this stage. We will see...

No way. We are in win now mode and can use a talented player in the first round to get us over the top THIS year. Having two firsts next year isn’t going to help us this year when we might be a player away from winning it all.

Trade down and take Pat Freiermuth
whorlnut replied to whorlnut's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What if it’s the fourth or fifth option and they don’t fit our scheme? What if it’s an Epenesa clone and isn’t a fast twitch athlete? There is so much more that goes into a pick than if he’s just a specific position. Pass rush is definitely something they will look at, but don’t kid yourself and think Beane isn’t looking at every option to upgrade TE this off-season. He’s seen how elite TEs can carve up his team and it’s pretty clear he wants one of his own.
