horrible game decisions my Coach McD
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to slipkid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with taking the points, especially with your backup QB just coming into the game, points are still a big plus in the right column against that defense. Like you said, Bills defense was absolutely lights out, trust them to keep shutting down the Pats and get the ball back in decent field position with a chance for a tie or lead. Timeout management/bad challenges were infuriating to watch. To still be within striking distance after all the negative plays this offense/special teams made is really astounding. This defense should lead this team to the playoffs so long as the offense can get out of it’s own way. -
I trust Beane won’t stand pat with the WR situation as is. This team just showed the world it can suffocate the offense favored to win the Super Bowl. Time to up shop the block and see who’s available, and yes, maybe call up Duke. The only real threats on the field are Brown and Knox... Josh clearly needs better than average skill position players at this point in his career. but no need to get all dark with it, as a whole this is the best team in a long time, on pace for a 12-4 season, if our QB can get his head on straight (too soon?)

Gameday Thread Bills vs Pats* 2nd Half
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If AJ Green or any other legit 1/2 WR is available, Beane needs to make the move and get them here ASAP. This team is too good to waste with this current group of skill players, needs better WRs. It’s John Brown and then, basically nothing behind him. -
I normally don’t complain about the refs bc they suck in just about every game, but that facemask was directly in view of the referee, his helmet turned, how is that not called? If if it wasn’t for fantasy football I wouldn’t even watch, this product is garbage with every close game being determined by terrible officiating.

How the Bills beat the Pats
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Play physical, close to the LOS, bring pressure while taking away the short/intermediate routes and exploit their weakness on the OL. Like you said about Edelman, if he plays, they need to make him wish he took a week off. Clean but big hits. Dare them to go deep, if the OL holds up and Brady’s arm can get it there so be it, but I like this defense’s odds of getting pressure against a unit featuring Marshall Newhouse on the blind side. On offense, take some shots deep early, hoping it jumpstarts the offense, and at the very least keeps the defense honest. Lots of play action & rollouts early. I don’t want Josh sitting in the pocket wholeness Bellicheck throws the house at him. Keep Josh moving around, keep the defense guessing. Lots of motion and misdirection, PA, rollouts with more deepstuff. Also cross our fingers Singletary is back, Josh would use a dangerous checkdown this week as well. -
Week 4: Pats (-7) @ Bills!!
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to dubs's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marshall Newhouse is protecting the Goat’s backside... the same Marshall Newhouse Buffalo traded last year to Carolina for a “late round conditional 2021 draft pick”. He couldn’t crack last year’s wretched OL here in Buffalo. This game is going to be an extremely close, defensive battle. Under, Bills +7. -
Maiorana's Report: Realism or Pessimism?
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can’t argue with most of his points, I am still hoping Edmunds reaches that Patrick Willis level of play I thought he would be capable of. I’ve been wondering where the deep ball has been, but just hoping it’s been more a case of defenses trying to take it away and force Josh to make accurate short/intermediate throws because they assumed he had accuracy issues. -
McDermott takes it to another level again!

I’m pretty sure McD just has restless hand syndrome, and thus remain in a perpetual state of patting and clapping... Knox’s junk just got in the way. -
Idk if Buffalo gets to 4-0, but I think Sunday will be an “old school slugfest”. Take the Under. Feels Like 17-16, 20-17 type game... This Bills team has the secondary to blanket the Pats WR corps, allowing them to send pressure early and often, against a patchwork OL that has Marshall Newhouse starting... Problem is Pats D is just as good, if not better. It will be a low scoring affair, I still have to give the edge to the goat, but this could easily go the other way with a couple breaks. These Buffalo Bills have a fighting chance which is more than most Bills teams of the last two decades could say going up against the greatest dynasty in the history of the game.

If Singletary is hurt... trade for Gordon
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’d go as high as a 3rd if need be. I realize he’s had some injury issues, but so have Julio Jones and OBj. Plus last time he was on an NFL field he was a top 5 WR, so I take that chance and hope he has the longevity of Larry Fitz. -

Only player they should try and trade for is AJ Green, so they can stay, dare I say, relevant for the division title? Allen needs a little more firepower to work with, Green would be the perfect addition and shouldn’t cost much. Cincinnati is headed the wrong way, but has two young promising WRs, locking up a veteran in their current situation doesn’t make a lot of sense. They have too many needs elsewhere -
It's a catch 22, because of incidents like this I don't trust drivers either. I get that the technology isn't perfect yet, but once it get's "close enough", hopefully it becomes a standard option so if somebody is drunk and makes the poor decision to drive, atleast hopefully they are smart enough to turn on auto pilot.

I hope they trade for Eli, it would be surreal to see a Manning on the field in a Colts jersey again. The team is “built to win now”, and just imagine, Eli has a “Warner-esque” resurgence, and goes on to win a 3rd SB ring, topping his superior older brother, with the franchise where Peyton built his legacy...

I thought Trent Edwards would still be this team’s quarterback instead of being on our 6th(?) since... Stanford Quarterbacks, they just don’t make them like they used to...

If Chad Kelly Was Ever Going to Make It

Probably cry Kaepernick... I don’t condone it, I’m jus sayin, be ready for it https://theundefeated.com/features/the-white-privilege-of-chad-kelly/amp/ -
They are both in the last year of their contract, why not? Some are over valuing Clowney’s trade value. He can’t reach a new deal with any team that trades for him, they aren’t getting a 1st or 2nd for him... I would offer Shady and a 4th... or they can just sit there and waste a season with 1 decent rb and a franchised DE who just holds out and won’t re-sign.

Should we Trade Zay Jones?
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People seem so shocked that Zay could be the man out (he may not be, but hardly a lock to make it), as if 2nd round picks don’t bust all the time. Look back to the 2008 draft. Everybody was projecting Devin Thomas to Buffalo in the 1st, Buffalo took McKelvin. The 2nd round was littered with busts- Devin Thomas, James Hardy (RIP), Limas Sweed, Malcom Kelly all busts who were all highly touted. Two great WRs were selected in that round as well in the form of Jordy Nelson and Desean Jackson, but the bust % is very high on early round WRs. -

Allen’s going to make those forced mistakes from time to time... The key is trying to limit them right now. I just like to think of them as more “Favre-Esque” than “Fitz-ish.” Because like Favre he will eventually make enough great plays that they kinda cancel out the mistakes that come with being a “gun slinger”... Tonight was a bad one, I believe Josh won’t let himself forget that he can’t do that *****, and he will learn from it... He will learn, I just think it’s hard when you are THAT physically gifted, to concede the play to the defense and move on to the next, but he’ll get it. -
Gameday Thread Bills at Detroit 2nd Half
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean, the only other QBs comparable in physical abilities and attributes in the league right now are Mahomes and Newton. Combine those attributes and an obvious above average aptitude for the game (his progression in diagnosing opposing defenses presnap is already noticeable), and overal above average IQ (37 wondelic), he’s got all the tools to be the best the game has ever seen, it’s a question of can he maximize all of those tools and realize his maximum potential? Will he be the GOAT? Odds aren’t likely. Mahomes certainly has a better shot, right now. But Josh certainly has the tools to be the best, if it all clicks in just the right way... -

His consistency has definitely been a pleasant surprise. He wouldn’t be the first QB who takes time to really develop, took Alex Smith forever to become a legit starter, and I could see Barkley having Alex Smith upside. That being said, Josh has like, “goat” upside if it all comes together for him. But peak Alex Smith wouldn’t be terrible if Josh went all Bortles in his development... -

Yeah, he brings too much to the table that no other Bills WR currently does, I can’t see them cutting Duke at this point. They need his size, physicality and ability to win jump balls. -
Name 5 teams better then the Buffalo Bills
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mosley isn’t very good in coverage and they lost Avery Williamson. Brandon Copeland just got suspended 4 games. Their CBs aren’t as good or as deep. Adams is fine, But they don’t have a tandem like Hyde and Poyer who are both in their primes and familiar with each other and the scheme. I see no holes on Buffalo’s Defense and think Edmunds will take the step towards being elite for years to come. They are also without Herndon for the first 4 weeks which will hurt them. The only place I give them a slight edge is at WR, but not by a whole lot, the Bills DBs shouldnt have much issue shutting them down. Obviously Bell is an elite back, but their OL is a big question mark, where Buffalo has good depth at RB, keeping fresh legs behind a bolstered OL. The head coach issue is a pretty big deal. Darnold could be pretty good... but that won’t negate bad coaching enough to mean anything unless he is out of this world. Even then many times has a great QB like Phillip Rivers been on the outside looking in at the post season, despite being elite? Or above average QBs like Stafford? And who’s to say this Josh Allen kid doesn’t turn out to be some special??? The odds are the same for each QB. Plus new coach, new scheme, lots of new faces combined with all the injuries and suspensions is hardly a recipe for success. While Buffalo does have a good amount of new players, it’s year 3 of “the process” and players who have been around the last year or two should be much more comfortable schematically, and cut down on mental errors like missed assignments and stupid penalties. My main concern for Buffalo right now is both phases of the kicking game. We don’t want to deal with what Chicago did last season.
