My issue here is that the combination of Gore and Smith is functioning as a key for the defense.... It’s why Smith was wide open on that TD pass earlier in the season. Sadly, Daboll hasn’t really gone back to that or much else when both players are in the game at the same time. On the slight chance that Daboll call that play 3/4 of the defense can chase Smith down in the open field.

Any one else ever glue quarters on the sidewalk in a bad part of town to see what crackheads do???? This thread has that vibe. Allen and Barkley are both here next year. No GM will give up on a 2nd year top 10 draft pick unless they get caught raping a child and shooting up a zoo while high on cocaine. Ain’t gonna happen.

Singletary finishes with EIGHT rushing attempts

Kind of like a 16 year old that got a mustang as old as he is for a first car. -
Roman is a genius at designing run plays and coordinating blocking schemes for the rushing attack. There isn’t anyone better. However, his passing game is dependent upon the pressure applied by the rushing attack. He currently has the most talented QB prospect he’s ever had, and Jackson’s skill set and Romans offense are a perfect marriage. Roman has also adapted and improved his organization and playcalling. I’m interested to see how/if the offense evolves over 2-3 seasons as previous QBs have faltered as the league catches up to the rushing concepts and the QB starts taking hits. By contrast Daboll is basically running Charlie Weiss’ EP offense with some west coast and college concepts (RPO, etc) integrated into it. It’s not a simple system and is kind of an amoeba based on exploiting matchups. With a young and inexperienced QB this style of offense isn’t going to look good. Instead of being advantageous, this offense just looks like it lacks an identity right now. All the pressure for offensive improvement is on Allen to get better. The kid needs more help with both talent and playcalling.

Last Offensive All-Pro from the Bills 1991
Buffalo Junction replied to BITE ME's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are we just going with first team all-pro? I ask because Moulds, Jason Peters and Rueben Brown made 2nd team all-pro while Bills. Point still stands though as it’s been a decade since any of those guys were Bills. The biggest issue has been poor talent at QB which drags down all of the other skill position players. Get your hands on an all-pro QB and a WR or two is likely going to the probowl. -

Week 10: Bills at Browns

Y’all know it’s actually legal to mail a crow right? Dead or alive.... You can mail one to these places as a “stick it to `em” if you’re that livid about these predictions. You can also have a pie delivered from a bakery with “humble” spelled in the crust.... Be creative.... Maybe blow up their Twitter with links to Humble Pie songs and #billsmafia if we stop the browns???? Have fun with this. The bills are 6-2! Enjoy the ride. -
IMO, Star is better than a simple “stop gap”. Beane has shown that he’s not handing out long term contracts to stop gap players. Star’s role was/is vital to the defense functioning properly. He fit a need, knew the defense, etc. He may be overpaid for that role, but I don’t care how they spend Peg’s money as long as they have the cap space to resign critical players. I think a lot of folks aren’t being honest with how long it can take to develop defensive tackles, especially NTs that don’t have blue chip physical traits... It’s strength and technique which take time to build. They will put guys in the pipeline and Star likely won’t be retained for the same salary once his contract is up. If they end up finding a gem like Pat Williams he might be released. Not having a replacement for Horrible Harry is a much bigger problem than Star’s ability.

It’s almost unavoidable when the player rotating with Star is on IR. We currently have a 350 pound man playing more than he should which is going to lead to mistakes. Let’s also keep in mind that Edmunds is making the calls. In most systems the MLB is responsible for adjusting gap assignments on the fly.

The issue is that fans expect Star to perform in a manner similar to other NTs in that salary range; many of whom make more splash plays. Unfortunately, that comes with neglecting several details... most notably when Star was signed he was one of the best NTs on the market, and they needed a plug and play NT. Beane & Co can definitely upgrade the position, but it will likely be a phase out as they develop younger players to take over the role.

Week 10: Bills at Browns
Buffalo Junction replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It would be a great talking point all week if Allen goes off for 350 total yards and 3 TDs with some big plays to Brown while Mayfield implodes. I have no clue how this game is going to go, but capitalizing on an early Browns turnover could make this a fun game to watch -
