  1. Geez! Grateful for the points although I don't generally pay attention to such but, for the record, I did apologize for assuming everyone would understand what I meant. In the (nonexistent) words of DJ Magic Mike, "I should have been more 'claritive'". ?
  2. Maybe I'm wrong but I took it as a poke at the typical misspellings of common contractions by Monday morning armchair QBs/HCs/GMs that drive me, for one, absolutely batsh*t
  3. The key point about Mahomes that the whiners conveniently never mention is that Mahomes sat behind Alex Smith for a year. Even though Smith knew he was being replaced he openly shared his knowledge and really helped Mahomes prepare for the job. Similar situation with Rogers behind Favre. Had they been drafted by the Bills and subsequently thrown to the wolves right off the bat neither would have flourished like they have.
  4. One of the things I love most about the current culture of the Bills is that they take nothing for granted. I know Cinci isn't anything resembling a power house but almost (almost) any NFL team is capable of pulling one out of its butt every so often. The Bills did it vs the Vikings last year. McBeane & Co don't allow themselves the luxury of considering any opponent a "gimme". That's why this team is going to be very special.
  5. Probably thinks with AB on the team Gronk can skate another ring out of it even if he doesn't actually play. Not saying AB even makes it thru the regular season with the Syndicate or that the evil Brady Bunch makes to the show this season. But to me it sounds like something Gronk would think. (I don't give him a lot of points for the capacity for rational thought.)
  6. Good for him!! But I wonder if it can be ordered as a "sack" lunch?? (Sorry, just had to go there...) I don't know. Maybe game planning?
  7. Since it all culminated in a win I'll chalk most of the few bone head plays up to bad luck and the fact that JA's still young with only a baker's dozen of regular season starts. Don't know if I could be so kind if we were 0-1 but after all is said and done I really think this group and its QB are destined for great things.
  8. Sorry I didn't clarify about Watkins' team. I did the evil assume ?
  9. Yikes! Is this some kind of left-handed hex on the Bills? IDK but I think I could have gone the rest of my life without this little tidbit from Mr. Throw-my-whole-team-under-the-bus
  10. Wasn't really a fan of the original Sammy Watkins' acquisition and not particularly a Raiders fan but... Am glad to see that #14 is finally healthy after nearly a half-dozen years. Also tickled almost pink that the Raiders put together a win after all the AB drama. DISCLAIMER: Just as long as my appreciation does not come back to bite the Bills in the playoffs. ?
  11. I still think the first half v Jets was an aberration. Yes ball security has been and to an extent still is an issue with this group. Yes Allen should have tucked the ball on the sack but what are the true odds of that low pass to Beasley bouncing the way it did? Of course it happens but really? As the late great Paul Newman as Fast Eddie Felsom said in "The Color of Money", "sometimes the balls roll funny for everybody". Does anyone remember that recent thread about what would happen if the starting QB threw 4 INTs during a regular season game? Or maybe it was the preseason, I'd look it up but I'm on my phone which is a gigantic PITA. This game is your answer. I have a buttload of serious medical issues including severe depression so I'm not typically a "glass half full" kinda guy but my biggest takeaway from this game is that, most of the Bills teams I've watched in the past 14 years would never have come back from a 16-0 deficit to win the game. This team did. In fact, a lot of the bemoaning of this franchise during my "career" was that the team just couldn't finish in these situations. This group never lost its purpose or its cohesiveness. It got the job done no matter what. While I'm quoting, I saw Jim Kelly in an interview. He was asked what he thought was the biggest difference between his teams and the present teams. His answer was to the effect that his teams never felt beaten until the final seconds clicked off the clock in the 4th quarter. That's exactly what this team did. They never gave up. The defense was a part of that, a big part. But so was Josh Allen and Daboll and McDermott and Beane and every Bill on the field. They truly played their butts off for the full 60 minutes and are now 1-0 for the season and in the division. No matter what happened in the first half or the previous play. They just got it done. Just my 2¢
  12. Agree 100%. Frankly, I was getting sick of all the slobbering over Bell by the commentators. "What a great return of Le'veon Bell!" All the while a rookie RB had more yards rushing on far fewer touches. Yes, they lost Mosley and that probably helped but still. ? Can't remember specifically but I think Morse got pushed back into Allen on the sneak?
  13. Guess that's just another reason I don't play or follow FF. I'd rather just get a win, even a somewhat ugly win, against a division opponent in the season opener.
  14. Was thinking of a similar comparison but didn't have the numbers. Nice job!
  15. IDK about that. This was his, what ~12th regular season start? Rome wasn't built in a day. Apples and oranges maybe but it took me 10 years to finally quit smoking-not that I think it'll take Allen that long to become great. I just believe deeply ingrained bad habits take far longer to break and relapses are many therein. He'll keep growing but it's going to take time.
  16. THANK YOU! Sully started the "Fire Daboll?" thread and I just about lost it when I read a few tweets under it. My God, it's like no QB ever suffered a strip sack or ever had just purely bad luck during a game. You're absolutely right that some of these people are judging Allen on every throw. And this is just the first game. SMH
  17. The Bills W/L speculation again is glass totally empty with no bottom ? Don't want to be overly optimistic (read "stupidly so") but Beane did say, roughly, "the last time I was in Dallas for Thanksgiving we went to the Superbowl"
  18. I'm going out on a limb and say 10-11 wins. Really like what McBeane did this offseason. Hopefully the chronically injured players can stay on (or actually make it to) the field. Am kinda ambivalent about Yeldon but we'll see. Losing Shady is a mix of good and bad but I guess we'll see how it plays out. Wish him all the best with the Chiefs. As far as Motor goes, I Billeive he's just getting started on a great career.
  19. Who are you, the Incredible Erskine?!? Man did you ever call it!
  20. Personally, I'd rather have a bunch of faceless nobodies who play all 4 quarters like the 2nd and 3rd stringers did in the last few minutes of Thursday night's game than a few "household names" who ultimately think they're bigger than the team.
  21. Even though it is preseason I've been unable to unconvince myself that this team is different from everything I have seen since I became a Bills fan. Every player I've seen interviewed is focused on "TEAM" first. No prima donnas have surfaced. With few exceptions (not mentioning namesTyreeJackson), even the 3rd stringers appear truly competent. I think the word I'm looking for is "unity". I've noticed how Josh Allen and other key players mirror McDermott's language when speaking about other players' abilities/performance/skill set. "I appreciate (other player's name)......" Every player holds himself accountable rather than throwing someone else under the bus or mealy mouthing. The way the sideline and position groups react to plays on the field. They're involved. I know there have been flashes of these qualities in years past but I believe this team is more bonded than any Bills team I've seen since 2006
  22. All preseason disclaimers acknowledged, the Bills have really looked sharp thru the 1st quarter and into the 2nd. (I'm watching DVR) Right up to the fumble......
