  1. Establishing the run hasnt been a thing since Brady and Moss emerged. Its a passing league and has been for over a decade. Pass and rush the passer. Can you win with a run game like Baltimore and Tenn? Yes but that is the exception not the rule any longer.
  2. Good take. What you describe is what it will take to beat the Bills. If the Bills don’t settle for FGs, get a turnover or two, and don’t get completely manhandled at the LOS they should win against anyone
  3. Just want to clarify. I am not advocating Edmunds is released or even traded this off season. I would pick up his fifth year option and see how he plays the next two years before committing big dollars to him. He is still young and maybe he gets better, but he has not done enough to justify an extension yet. Bills have all the leverage. I truly hope he is the long term answer at MLB. I doubt it but would love to be wrong. I still think if he is played like TJ Watt is used in Pittsburgh he would be a superstar.
  4. Do you bench Allen when he fumbles? Did Moss get his carries cut ? He is the best TE on the roster. He made two great catches. Keep feeding him the ball. He drops more than average but they all drop some.
  5. Interesting take. In 2020 NFL, you may be correct that your MLB may need to be better in coverage than in run defense. It's harder to tell on the TV how he is doing in coverage. They don't always show his drops. He seems rangy but I have not seen him break up many passes this year.
  6. 8 guys opted out and two of their top 4 defenders. They have holes everywhere. Doubt they can fix it in one year. They likely need two off-seasons to reload. Unsure if Belichick even has it in him to try. They would need to add two high quality receiving targets and a couple linemen just to be competitive on offense. They might stick with Newton or be in the running for Ryan or Garoppolo or Winston. There will be numerous veteran QBs on the market again this year. They are dead and buried this year. Belichick built a great non-name defense in the past. He has cap space. I suspect he can do it again. I just don't think they can do it in one year. With a 3rd place schedule they could stay competitive until the final quarter of the season.
  7. I'm sure they will be happy with the collective defensive effort and result, but the coaches grade the individual performances too.
  8. From what I see Edmunds is lined up over the center >80% of the time. He had 5-7 snaps lined up on the outside shoulder of the tackle. He mostly dropped into zone but was man to man on the RB a few times - he went into coverage and delayed blitzed on a couple plays after seeing the RB stay in to block. That is classic MLB play in a base 4-3 or nickel D. The only play I remember Milano lining up between the guards was on an early blitz call that led to a sack by Addison or Butler.
  9. The injury is the great unknown. Chances are he still needs off-season shoulder surgery. If that is the case maybe 2021 looks more like 2019 when it really looked liek he was playing at a high level.
  10. Has nothing to do with stats. I don't even know how many tackles he was credited with. Don't care. I watched the plays. Go back and watch them too. You will see what I see.
  11. That is my assessment as well. He is nothing special. The Singletary run on third down in the red-zone he missed his block terribly. If he kicks out one of those guys Singletary can cut it back up for the first down. Ford would win that job back easily unless they are forced to kick him out to RT.
  12. No doubt you bring him back for 2021. But I just don't see him as the long term answer at MLB.
  13. This defense is truly transformed with Milano playing. I just rewatched the game. He made multiple plays and good open field tackles. Maybe it is this scheme. Maybe he is just that good. Beane can't let him walk out the door. In an ideal world the Bills and Milano would realize they are both good for each other and hammer out a reasonable deal. Maybe with COVID and a static or falling cap number, there won't be too much money to throw at Milano by other teams. If they can't find common ground then they should tag him. Previously I said let Milano walk and use the tag for Williams at RT. Now I say do whatever they can to keep him in Buffalo for another year. Edmunds was terrible again. He took bad angles again. When he sheds a block someone let me know because it will be his first. The runs up the gut were in part due to him guessing the wrong hole and just getting blown out of the play. There is no way he played anywhere close to a ProBowl level this year. Am I missing something? Are you guys seeing something I am not? He was moved to OLB for a handful of plays. I get it 9 points, why mess with what's working. But what happens when they play a competent offense that can run the ball?
  14. The pass to Roberts was the attempt. Jones was the last option on that play. They will find a way to get Singletary, Roberts, or maybe Bates a TD catch next week.
  15. Play to win. Knock Miami out of the playoffs. This team could use some reps in bad weather too. Find a way to get Neasley his 34 yards to get to 1000 and then let him rest his ankle and sit Poyer for the protocol. Otherwise play the starters. Hope they can do to Tua what other teams have done, capitalize on some short fields and be selective when playing back-ups. You can instruct Roberts to only FC punts. You can put Jones back to return kicks. You can sub in Norman for White. You can sit Hughes for Murphy. There is a lot they can do to protect folks while still going for the win.
  16. Bill Cowher's playoff record is terrible and the refs gifted him his lone SB win. He is not as overrated as Tony Dungy but he is close.
  17. Moslty true but he did have a few great moves. He drafted Gronk who will be in the conversation for top 5 TE of all time. Had Hernandez too before he killed someone. Brought Moss to New England on the cheap too.
  18. They were always just another team. They just had Brady that made all the difference.
  19. Can anyone name a Bills assistant coach that left Buffalo to be a HC? Only one I can think of is Marchibroda.
  20. Its mental not skill. He can improve and be more consistent. They will need to add another TE in the off season assuming Kroft walks. But they do not need to draft a TE high in the draft.
