  1. did not see this elsewhere: Article: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-1-power-rankings-buccaneers-start-season-at-no-1-but-bills-will-stand-in-way-of-super-bowl-repeat/ "NFL Week 1 Power Rankings: Buccaneers start season at No. 1, but Bills will stand in way of Super Bowl repeat" short excerpt: "That doesn't mean they are a lock to win it again. Repeating is tough, even for a seasoned, talented team like Tampa Bay. But I do think the Bucs will get back to the Super Bowl, only to fall short. The Buffalo Bills will win it all. This is the year Bills quarterback Josh Allen cements himself as one of the best in the NFL by leading the Bills to their first Super Bowl victory. Allen still has doubters, despite his MVP-like season in 2020. There is a big part of me that thinks Allen is only scratching the surface of what he can be as a passer, which is why I am bullish on the Bills. Coach Sean McDermott and coordinator Leslie Frazier will have the defense improved over last season -- they have to be better rushing the passer -- and that will prove to be the impetus to get this team to the Super Bowl and win it. The Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers will again be in the mix, but this time it's the Bills who beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game to move on and win it all, beating Brady, who brought a lot of misery to Buffalo in his time with the Patriots. While the Bills Mafia will be happy with these first rankings, I know most of you will find something to complain about. Oh, well. Maybe you can use it as motivation." Rankings: 1. Tampa Bay 2. Buffalo 3. Kansas City 4. Green Bay 5. Cleveland 6. San Francisco 7. Baltimore 8. LA Rams 9. Arizona 10. Tennessee 11. New England 12. Indianapolis 13. Washington 14. Dallas 15. Miami 16. Minnesota 17. Denver 18. Seattle 19. New Orleans 20. LA Chargers 21. Pittsburgh 22. Atlanta 23. Chicago 24. NY Giants 25. Las Vegas 26. Philadelphia 27. Jacksonville 28. Carolina 29. Cincinnati 30. Detroit 31. NY Jets 32. Houston
  2. Good post! Another two points of note: 3. The Bills and Dolphins headed to the locker room after the TD since they thought the game was over, but the officials made everyone come back so the PAT could be attempted. I don't think the PAT was shown on TV. Now the NFL has changed the rule so no PAT on the final play of the 4th quarter if it would not affect the outcome. 4. Kelly said in an interview after the game that he was thinking to himself as he was running for the game-winning TD something along the lines of: "boy you better score or everyone's going to be p*ssed at you!".
  3. In 1982 they predicted we would win the SB, after we lost to Cincy in the AFCCG the previous year. Back then, they were a respectable organization, lol. :-)
  4. Ahhh...yep, flew right over my head! Yeah, thanks for mentioning that. I am way too serious that I didn't realize it, lol.
  5. ?? 1. Rookie contract amounts are pretty much set by agreement with the NFL and NFLPA, so the Bills management paid him what was allowed, for the most part. 2. Ralph died years ago. 3. A Jeep is a practical vehicle, good for a rookie's salary. He doesn't want to blow it all. --- EDIT: as others have pointed out, this was a joke. I apologize for my post!! Mea culpa.
  6. Excellent post! Back in the 80's, teams could dress 45, and then in the 90's, I think, they NFL rules allowed a 3rd QB to dress to make it 46, but he could play only if the 2 ahead of him went down. Do you or anyone else know how and why it went to 47/48? I did not pay attention over the years. Also, I've have been busy as f---, so I haven't really followed all the news. A few more questions (that may have already been answered in this thread): 1. When can we place guys on the 53 to IR so we can bring back Ferguson and anyone else? 2. Who are the players likely to go on IR then and who is likely to be brought back, besides Ferguson, obviously? (And isn't a little dangerous to release a veteran LS like Ferguson, who is one of the top in the NFL?) 3. So 16 can go on the PS, but how many others who were not allowed under past rules are allowed this year on the PS?
  7. This is a good re-statement of the rules regarding IR and when and when they cannot be recalled. I wish this was somehow made into a sticky so some might read it and hopefully learn.
  8. Ah, I had forgotten about that, and see your point. My only counter is that was the second Bills-Jets game in 2014, so there was no option for swapping home games, if that were even a possibility. (But the hypothetical Miami swap may not be possible either, due to stadium availability and other scheduling issues and the short notice.). You're probably right...it would go to a neutral site.
  9. I would assume they would just switch the game to Buffalo then. I'd actually rather play Miami at home in September and have to go there October 31, due to the weather. But that would mean Buffalo would have to play five straight road games then.
  10. Fox will feature Brandon Gaudin Week 2 for Buffalo at Miami: Fox has Week 3 Washington at Buffalo with Chris Myers, Daryl Johnston, Jennifer Hale: https://506forums.com/index.php?topic=23913.0 [registration required -- takes a day or so to get approved]
  11. Haha...hey thanks! Chong Li was a bad mother f'er; me, OTOH, not so much. 😃 [Oh, and I wasn't trying to call you out...I had posted as soon as I read the original post, without reading the rest of the thread first!] I also agree with your opinions on Tasker. I think his best chance is when the Senior Committee takes a look, though I am skeptical they will vote to approve. Let's hope they eventually do.
  12. This is Tasker's last year of regular eligibility to get into the HOF. Then it will be just Seniors Committee.
  13. Good find! I was watching the game in the college lounge. I knew the Bills would pull this out!
  14. Side note: Daboll was also named a few days ago to Jared Dubin's of CBS Sports "2021 NFL Survivor Squad" (one player or coach from each team, with players/coaches from last year ineligible this year): https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2021-nfl-survivor-squad-building-a-32-man-juggernaut-with-one-pick-from-every-single-team/ "2021 NFL Survivor Squad: Building a 32-man juggernaut with one pick from every single team Our second annual survivor squad is here with a caveat [...] Offensive coordinator: Brian Daboll (Bills) Last year (ineligible): Greg Roman (Ravens) The work Daboll did with Josh Allen last season was Reid-esque. The Bills ran the pass-heaviest offense in the NFL relative to their expected drop-back rate given down, distance, time, and score, and that fits quite well with the type of team we want to build. He'll spread the field to get as many threats as possible in the game, affording his quarterback a wide view of possible targets and the throwing lanes through which he can find them. Buffalo's running game was not particularly efficient last season (22nd in Football Outsiders' DVOA) but Daboll worked around that by juicing pass efficiency and using Allen as a threat in short yardage. He knows what he's doing. Also considered: Kellen Moore, Eric Bieniemy, Mike LaFleur, Joe Lombardi, Byron Leftwich, Josh McDaniels" [end excerpt] Tre'Davious White was our player who was ineligible this year. Also considered for this year's squad at their respective positions were Sean McDermott, Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Tremaine Edmunds, and Micah Hyde.
  15. Yep, and this is Tasker's final year of regular eligibility before having to go to the Senior's Committee.
  16. I am surprised no one has mentioned the OJ Simpson trade, which eventually netted us Jim Kelly! In 1978 the Bills traded O.J. Simpson to the San Francisco 49ers, who gave us their second- and third-round picks in 1978, first- and fourth-round picks in 1979, and a 1980 second-round. Buffalo used those draft picks to acquire DE Scott Hutchinson and WR Danny Fulton in 1978, DE Tom Cousineau and DE Ken Johnson in 1979, and RB Joe Cribbs in 1980. The first overall pick in 1979, Cousineau, would never play for the Bills, opting to go to the CFL. When he returned to the NFL, the Bills were able to obtain the 14th overall pick in the 1983 NFL draft plus a pair of picks in 1984 from the Cleveland Browns. That 14th overall pick would become Jim Kelly. Also, of note:
  17. To summarize: 16 QB's in 20 years, with 3 playoff years (1998, 1999, 2017) and 5 winning seasons with no division titles or playoff wins: 1998 10-6 (lost wild card game) 1999 11-5 (lost wild card game) 2004 9-7 2014 9-7 2017 9-7 (lost wild card game)
  18. Is there a link? I just checked PSE twitter, and there is no such announcement: https://twitter.com/PegulaSE/with_replies?lang=en
