  1. The difference is that it just feels like whining and complaining and that becomes highly annoying after a while. It's because it is simply not a possibility. The guy who owns the team has clearly stated he wants an open-air stadium, and the state of NY doesn't want to splurge on a $1.5 billion dome! Not happening...to ramble on about a dome is just annoying at this point, unless the talk is confined to a "build a dome" thread.
  2. LOL. TH3 is saying "OK, enough with the dome talk already." TBBills responds 1 minute later saying "But let's talk more about a dome." 😂 🤷‍♂️
  3. Wind is the worst, but when it's THAT cold, it is a big factor. Having said that, I have never played a down in the NFL in cold weather. I don't think folks are realizing how freaking cold this game is going to be.
  4. This is a fun/interesting article talking about the cold and its impact on the game with respect to 49ers at Packers wildcard playoff game from 2014. It was 5 degrees at kickoff, but -10 wind chill. Then the sun went down and it got worse. Troy Aikman was showing how you have to hold a ball differently to pass in that kind of cold. They had HEATERS around the beer taps in Lambeau so the beer wouldn't freeze. Kicker Phil Dawson tells Erin Andrews: “The ball feels like an absolute brick. The footing is going to get worse … in these conditions it is so difficult to kick.” Kaepernick threw for 227; Rodgers threw for 177. San Fran won 23-20. I remember this game well; Kaepernick played the whole game with bare arms and I thought they were going to freeze and fall off. https://ew.com/article/2014/01/05/49ers-vs-packers-live-blog-cold/
  5. Perennial contender? Let's not get too crazy here. Buffalo is traditionally seen as the garbage dump of the league and we were irrelevant for an entire generation of football fans. And then the current regime came in and turned it all around. So there is going to be automatic interest in anyone and everyone associated with that. But these hiring teams are going to interview others as well and we don't know if we'll lose anyone yet for real. The Giants are, more or less, a historically very well run franchise, too. I still can't believe they did that.
  6. You would think his retirement is coming sooner than later. But guys like Belichick are not normal; they are completely one dimensional people, have OCD to an extent, and they are enormously ambitious and competitive. They need to be 100% focused on lots of hard work to be happy. The kind of guy who won't know what to do with himself when he retires, so he doesn't. Not sure how it will play out.
  7. Took me a while to find him! Brady is definitely the funniest.
  8. Message to everyone involved in Gugny's discussion here: It's OK to disagree and to not share opinions with other people on a particular topic. What makes you suggest it was overblown? You didn't even see it. Maybe. Maybe not. Your projecting your own take on the story to conform with what you would prefer to believe. Which is natural and normal psychology--but be aware that's what you're doing.
  9. Boy, being a fan is complicated! This stuff isn't easy for an out-of-towner!
  10. I think it's fair to suggest he has a tendency to call overly thought-out, overly complex, trick plays (to an extent), when a conventional play would not only work, but would be much better. When his complex play blows up, we are that much further behind for the next play, and that's the type of play calling that inhibits your ability to get first downs. Sometimes his play calls function as our own enemy. And when we have the ball on the 5 yard line or closer, I swear to God, Daboll has not yet figured out the play ALWAYS must be a Josh Allen run. It's the most effective single thing this offense does...and yet Daboll often does not call that play in those situations!
  11. For younger fans, remember that Frazier was a Bear player from 1981-1985....he was a cornerback on that great 1985 team and he blew out his knee in that Super Bowl returning a punt. Never played again after that. So he has a history in Chicago.
  12. That's OK. There's a big difference between getting an interview and a job offer.
  13. Maybe he's thinking "I have studied this team to death twice this year and played them twice, and I just don't like our chances against them on Saturday night." Let's hope so!
  14. What are you, his wife for God's sake? Are you in a relationship with him?
  15. That's my take too; it's just kind of funny and interesting listening to the guy speak. It's like he's not trying even 1% to be entertaining or play ball in any way. And he doesn't care what he sounds like! I kind of respect him in an odd way for it. At one point in the interview he was asked about young players doing well in the playoffs or if that's a problem, etc. Bill said "in the playoffs the most important thing is playing well; it's not about being young or old or this or that" or words to that effect... He's right. It's amazing how well a football game goes when you play well and execute. He sounds utterly defeated and deflated, like you have to wonder what drives him at this point in his career, especially with all that he has accomplished. He's a really odd--yet interesting--duck.
  16. The excitement associated with the kids call-up lasted about 10 minutes. Krebs had a beautiful assist from behind the net, and that was the full extent of the "kids" doing anything interesting. Most of them are not close to being ready. Now Thompson is on the COVID list, and they are bringing up Jack Quinn for tomorrow night's game. He's not ready either but it will be fun to see him for the first time in a Sabres sweater, at least for some die hards. We're marching steadily toward a bottom 5 finish most likely. I'm not surprised WGR-550 is avoiding Sabres talk. Especially with the Bills being in the middle of a great era as they are.
  17. https://www.audacy.com/wgr550/sports/sabres/remembering-former-buffalo-sports-broadcaster-brian-blessing Always liked him just generally speaking; he was good as a newscaster doing the news, good at specialty broadcasts, etc. Only 64 years old!
  18. Check this out! He is such an odd duck. He has the natural charisma of a wet piece of cardboard. 10 Minute interview from WEEI in Boston. https://www.audacy.com/weei/sports/patriots/bill-belichick-looks-ahead-to-wild-card-game-vs-bills
  19. If it's going to be single digits but feel like -5, the game will most certainly be impacted by weather. Expect low score, some sloppiness, and this helps New England and hurts us. Doesn't mean we can't beat them soundly.
  20. ...and in fact may very well be planning to do so, despite the announcement to the contrary!
  21. Very clever. 👍
  22. "Thou shalt execute thy game plan, smite thy foe, and thus thwart the Patriots of New England." Thus spaketh Nitro. 👏
  23. Wait for when (AND IF) we lose on Saturday night at home. This thread will be alive and kicking. Bills fans have a memory 1 game old; I keep writing that and it makes more sense every time I do. FTR: I will be predicting a somewhat easy Bills win; I've wanted this matchup for weeks.
  24. What he saw was almost certainly not on camera, or at least part of the TV broadcast the director chose to show us. We don't know! That could have been it for sure...but who knows?
  25. He's completely suggesting he saw this "behind the cameras" and was asking if it was caught on the TV broadcast as well. Makes sense no one saw the incident on TV; God only knows how much stuff we miss every game on TV. Hell, we can't see what the receivers and DBs are doing on EVERY PLAY.
