I just want to call out and applaud your use of the term "stadia."

Aikman and Buck make up one of the worst combos in football broadcasting, despite being Fox's No. 1 crew for a long time. I can't stand either of them, for different reasons. Having said that, the MNF broadcast as currently staffed couldn't be worse....so there's that.

I clearly recall watching this with my father, live on CBC when it was actually happening. We were waiting for us to get blasted and were absolutely stunned when we won. The thing that young people now probably don't get--at all--about this game was that it was way more than 2 hockey teams playing. It was the USA free market vs. the USSR socialist repressive government, and the hockey players were just pawns in that game. It was way more than a hockey game. I REALLY MISS those days of the cold war (ironically enough) when it comes to athletics, as it was a HELL OF A LOT OF FUN HATING THE EVIL USSR and all of their lackeys (DDR, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Romania, and so on). I guess now we can hate on Russia (or whatever they are called these days due to their many rule violations) or even China if you like, but it's not the same. I miss those "CCCP" uniforms!

If the USFL wants to be the NFL's guinea pig and share data with them, I'm sure the NFL would be interested! The way the USFL will survive is not through straight up competition with the NFL as a claimed equal, but by finding their own niche and living in peaceful harmony with the NFL. I.E., the USFL makes sense as an NFL developmental league. NFL has never had, and badly needs, a minor developmental league IMO....if for nothing other than developing the QB position. Testing new rules and game concepts would be interesting.

Those old logos are amazing. It's one thing to hate the Patriots, but why in the world would you hate that logo? Stupid.

I would love to see the Patriots go back to the old helmets for a few games. This is one of the best pieces of sports graphic design I can think of. Can't believe they would ever have moved on from it!

That was about the only thing "Great" about that game last night... What a HORRIBLE hockey game! And we had a little winning "streak" going to, if you can call 2 games a streak. You have to hand it to the 4,000 or so people who were physically in attendance....now those are DIE HARD Sabres fans.

It assumes two things: 1) that the player just didn't try hard enough or focus on not fumbling, and that 2) the punishment of sitting him on the bench will somehow better prepare him to not fumble in the future. Note to McDermott and all other football guy meatheads out there: the players aren't trying to fumble, they are aware of the consequences of fumbling; it's a rough game out there and sometimes things don't go according to plan. The thing is, the game was not lost on the muffed kickoff. It was lost in the 13 seconds of horribly defended football that followed.
