  1. I don't disagree with most of your points, but I'd also say that McD hasn't shied away from admitting his mistakes and moving to change what he can to correct those as he is able. Say what you will, but I don't think that an oversized ego the likes of which afflicted Rexy, is a problem that he has shown thus far.
  2. I don't think the "plan" and firing a couple assistants are mutually exclusive--as the plan rolls forward, the quality of progression, play, staff, are always being evaluated to see where betterment can be had. It was quite clear that the sheer number of ST gaffes even late in the year, were not excusable based on the talent playing alone. Would you have advocated to keep any of the 3 let go so far? Coaching like anything else, is fair game along the way. Also, we haven't heard peep about Terry inserting himself into the day to day, to his credit. He's letting the FO, HC regime do what it needs to do to present a product in the mold that they want it, IMO. If the results don't start showing as wins next year, that's a different story then I'm sure.
  3. Any of your explanatory scenarios could be it, good post. # 2 to me seems the most likely, but at the end of the day I’m glad things went the way that they did so we could land him, and some of the initial skeptics on the team given the tweets, such as Lorax, have also clearly come around because of the character Allen’s displayed since he got here. Side note: the NFL or any of its clubs have the ability to locate deleted tweets without blinking an eyelash, but security footage from hotel lobbies may as well be secured in Fort Knox?? Right....
  4. It’s not Rich Kotite’s league any longer—except for Hue Jackson, that guy had Sam Wyche (in Tampa) type staying power!
  5. No, I drew a line at 8-8 from a purely W-L standpoint as that would almost assuredly not get us into the playoffs, but was curious what folks here would consider a better interim step—more regular season wins or one playoff win, simple as that. Obviously the SB option was tongue in cheek, much as we’d love that.
  6. They’ll simply move the goal posts and conveniently forget that—but honestly I’ll be surprised if we come in at 8-8 or less next year...Plus I don’t want to see the meltdown on these boards if that were to happen ??‍♂️
  7. I figured it was most likely that 9-7 or 10-6 would result in a playoff berth, but would you rather have a weaker reg season win total but a wild card win or a double digit win rec for the first time in 20 years—also agree with another poster that 8-8 just wouldn’t feel like a success under any circumstances, so it seems like 9 wins is the minimum bar?
  8. At some point, the foundation laid by ‘the process’ over the past couple years, combined with impending FA pickups and another draft class, must translate into consistent wins on the field. Many of us believe they are on the right track to accomplish this, but what realistically does that mean for 2019? What is the minimum in terms of wins that will be necessary to get to, no matter what else happens?
  9. Or he can just leapfrog the blocks to make plays like we saw him do against Miami—either way this kids should be a terror to opposing offenses for years to come I hope!
  10. It’s gotten even better—I was prepared to roll with either Josh at the time, but hindsight being what it is, it’s starting to become clearer that he’s got what it takes and arguably has done more in his limited starts and with limited talent around him this year than any of the rest of his class minus Baker, yet his ceiling has also just as clearly not been reached. That alone makes me even more optimistic about next season. Couple that with glimpses into what makes him tick as a person, such as the Super Cade story, and I’m all in.
  11. He needs to be more like Dick Jauron and pretend to be sleepwalking or auditioning for “the walking dead” on the sideline—talk about motivational!
  12. Look forward to Josh breaking some long-standing franchise marks for yards/TD’s next year ??
  13. I think that’s because while not blazing hot yet, there’s a definite smoldering under Quinn’s seat, enough so that he probably wanted to make a quick statement splash for ownership’s benefit...a bit knee jerk but they definitely disappointed “bigly” this year.
  14. Good one! Needed to start 2019 off with a good laugh—but seriously, you are joking right?
  15. Big time QB prowess? Or a function of who he’s coached? Peyton who was basically his own coordinator? Tannehill is still Tannehill. But this is above my pay grade, I’m sure Ian Rapoport knows much better!
  16. Hey it’s another sliver of silver lining I suppose! Better than having lost only to sub 500 squads. Next year however, we need to be one of those playoff bound teams, not talking about how we lost to only them. I have every confidence now that we are headed to at least a divisional round W next year.
  17. Ok Joeziehmer, nice try, but we know who you are ?
  18. I feel like he’s gotten the message and has played himself into what should be a solid part of this D. Thanks Rexy, can’t say that about much of your reign in Buffalo, but just maybe you were on to something here with Shaq after all...
  19. Ditto to all my intraweb Bills fan friends out there—thanks for everything in 2018–and here’s to experiencing lots of exciting football in 2019 together with our Bills!!! Haven’t been this excited about starting a new season since, well, probably 1995. ? Happy New Year TBD!
  20. Great thread @dollars 2 donuts, highlighting how so many of our loose threads got pulled together yesterday, into a cohesive team win/solid effort including Mills. Can’t discount how much Kyle meant to even the younger guys on this team (someone else pointed out Zay’s running over to the ref after Kyle had tossed his catch ball so that he could retrieve it for a memento for Kyle) and how fired up they all were as a result. If ever there was a “meaningless” end of season game that actually meant more to every Bill playing than this one, I don’t know which. Glad you got to go and bring it full circle for the link with your dad.
  21. Sounds like Tomlin needs to import some process—things getting too comfortable for him? Losing control of the locker room might be a part of that result? The Rooneys do a lot right, but arguably leave the HC in place just a little bit too long, to a fault.
  22. But we saw already that having 3 healthy guys to play as needed is quite important—when we were stuck at 2, things went downhill fast whether through injury or lack of quality play
  23. So glad to see this; after a historically horrendous QB stretch this year mid season, they are finally pulling the right levers at the position it appears. Am optimistic this is the right mix in the QB room going forward into 2019!
  24. I’d rather start from the OP’s point than the opposite, which we’ve seen far too often here—capn Checkdown threw a beautiful short ball, did he not? I’ll take Josh’s floor to start any day
