Defensive Coordinator Candidates…whose worth a look?
GerstAusGosheim replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall
"13 seconds" and the Bengals "10 yards off the LOS on 3rd and 4" are probably the two biggest reasons why Bills fans were screaming for Leslie's head. Meanwhile, very quietly after "13 seconds," the Special Teams Coordinator took a lateral job and the LBs coach retired and Sean didn't say a word as everyone blamed Leslie. If you read between the lines, it's pretty clear to me who was to blame. Everyone knows you Squibb kick the damn ball and the game is essentially over. Also, McD hears the calls Frazier makes and could have changed it for 13 seconds (on either play). Same goes for the Bengals game. The footing in the snow was really bad. It's just as likely that Sean was screaming because the players weren't executing the right call Leslie made because they were worried about getting beat deep. If you told me before the game that the Bills D would hold the Bengals to 27, I would have expected a 31-27 victory. But our neglected O-line couldn't protect Josh and we only scored 10. Yet, again, Leslie gets the majority of the heat. I wouldn't say McD necessarily used Frazier, but his reluctance to speak about these matters allow a whirlwind of negativity toward Leslie by fans who need a villain. -
Defensive Coordinator Candidates…whose worth a look?
GerstAusGosheim replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, officially, no, and for obvious reasons. You can't exactly fire a black DC running a top-5 defense after a 14-3 record while the O only put 10 points in the final playoff game. Especially when he's basically just running the HC's scheme. The Bills and NFL would get hammered. -
Defensive Coordinator Candidates…whose worth a look?
GerstAusGosheim replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall
Holcomb was hired a month before Leslie was fired. So the move was in the works for a while. Unclear why Sean waited until there were no other DC jobs left for Leslie to take. Whether you wanted Leslie gone or not, the man deserved more respect than that. He dedicated 6 years of his life for this team, consistently had a top 5 D, was highly respected and loved by every player on that team. Wonder how this board would feel about Leslie if the Special teams coordinator got the right call in on the :13 squibb kick and we won the game. Or if our O against the Bengals put up more than 10 points. -
So Who will our next DC be? Tracker Links
GerstAusGosheim replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
Of course it was forced by the Bills, which makes it an even bigger douche move by Bills because they waited until after all the other available DC jobs were taken. The guy had a top-5 D for 6 years. Have some respect and let him catch on somewhere else. -
McDermott for sure will pick a Safety, LB or DL.

Unless he wins a SB, his legacy will be passing on Patrick Mahomes, thinking Nate Peterman was the answer, and 13 seconds.

Dyngus Day season -
Contract up. Walked away from a WR room that loved him (and bought him a truck!) to take a lateral move. Bad look for Sean.

Frazier: The hard FACTS on why many of us want a change.
GerstAusGosheim replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's McD's defense and it's time for him to go. Josh is going to be 27 at the start of the next season. With the beating he's taken behind this line, he may only have 5 good years left. We need to stop wasting this talent. -
Favorite season of the Allen era?
GerstAusGosheim replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
My favorite season of the Allen era will be the one where the coach and GM aren't wasting his generational talent with a garbage o-line. -
Joe Danna named Bills safety coach
GerstAusGosheim replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is the point I think a lot are missing. Salgado was widely credited by Sean and others with the development of Taron Johnson. So clearly he's a good coach. In his first year as safeties coach, he dealt with with injuries to Hyde and Poyer, the near death of Hamlin, working with 3rd/4th/5th string safeties (from rounds 6th, 7th, undrafted) accompanied by no Von/pass rush and rookie corners. -
None of the other coaches made the colossal mistakes of trading away the Mahomes pick and blowing 13 seconds, so it's really hard to compare. The 17-year playoff drought warped peoples brains into thinking this is even remotely acceptable.

Bills Coaching Staff Changes Thread
GerstAusGosheim replied to hellofellowbillsfans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I know you know this already, but Poyer and Hyde were exceptional free agents that we targeted and paid good money to. They were not developed out of college by our guys. They are the exception to the rule. Like Benford IF he continues to develop. Next year our starting CBs will both be first rounders. -
Bills Coaching Staff Changes Thread

This was his first year as Safeties coach, so that's clearly not all on him, and all the backups are 6th, 7th round and undrafted. -

This makes absolutely no sense. This coach was widely praised and credited with the success of developing Taron Johnson into being one of the best nickel CBs in the league. And he was working with 2/3 string safties most of the season (paired with backup rookie CBs and little pass rush/no Von Miller) -
Wrong Josh now on Vikings Practice Squad

Howard and Jeremy were just painful to listen to after Bills took Allen over Rosen and definitely did not eat enough crow later. -
For me, this list should factor in the other sports in the city. ie...Tampa Bay winning a SB and two Stanley Cups in the last 3 years would drop them significantly.

Howard Simon "Winding down" from WGR
GerstAusGosheim replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall
Recently, I heard some of the WGR guys quoting Bills Podcasts - Locked on Bills, Shout, Cover 1 - it's like guys, seriously, don't you have anything original or insightful to say yourselves? -

They definitely did not eat enough crow for whining incessantly about picking Allen over Rosen. Lots of talk about heading to the fear bunker. It's almost like they wanted to be right more than they wanted Allen to be good.
