  1. I keep reading that Buffalo has the most expensive D line in the NFL. That is a big problem because the line has not played near that level. Beane, being really smart, has structured a lot of the FA contracts so Buffalo can walk away from them before next season. This also will be a big help with the reduced salary cap. At this stage, we certainly keep Oliver. I have read a number of people on this board suggest we try him at DE. Why not, especially if there is a preseason next year? There is a huge difference between what the fans on this board and elsewhere see with Edmunds and what McD and his fellow players say about him. No answers from me but it will be difficult to keep him and Milano and by any measure, Milano has looked the more valuable player.
  2. As mentioned above with our wide receivers, I would really like to know how many of our guys were carrying injuries today before making too many comments. There had to be some reason the coaches continued to let Kelse and Hill have so much room. The season-long issues though are lack of a really effective pass rush outside Jerry Hughes, a running game which went from not that good to basically nonexistent, and run defence which ranged from iffy to appalling. Despite these issues, the team had a terrific season, well beyond most of our expectations. There is continuity in the organisation, we have our franchise quarterback who will improve even further, and the needed culture change has been well and truly affected. Three trips to the playoffs in four years; with two playoff games won this year; show that this franchise is in a better place than it has been for decades. When we get over today’s disappointment, we should all be able to enjoy reflecting on a very successful year.
  3. It’s been an incredible year. Sad to lose the way we did but.... there’s always next year. I just don’t know how banged up various players were so it’s hard to comment too much but yes, the difference in speed between the two teams was obvious.
  4. At this stage, he and Gabe Davis are our best picks in the last draft by a fair way.
  5. Jadeveon Clowney finally signs one year “prove it” deal for under $10 million Gronk is injured in first few games and doesn’t play again Agree with a lot of other people that Mariota replaces Carr in Vegas by midseason Bills start three quarterbacks during the season Zack Moss takes over as RB1 because of injury to Motor and doesn’t hand it back Brandon Beane recognised CEO of the Year.
  6. Tyler Kroft’s salary is $5.4 million. His dead cap number is $5 million. Hard to think he gets cut. Either he’s on the team or Beane swings a favourable trade.
  7. The virus seems to have given the final push to a number of wealthy veterans, some of whom have had a lot of success and some of whom have lost whatever love of the game they once had, to see what retirement will feel like. Ultimately, this will be to everyone’s advantage.
  8. Don’t think there’s any conspiracy. These players have all won, all earned more money than most people ever dream of, have legitimate reasons not to play the season and/or just decided they don’t want to risk getting ill to play a season for a team that is in decline because of the age of players and a step backwards or three in quarterback play. Who knows? A couple of them may have been iffy about playing a normal season.
  9. Great discussion. I think they have to keep Bass on the 53 or they lose him so he will have to show that he can’t handle pressure to be off the team. I remember they let Hopkins go a few years ago and he’s turned into a very good kicker. I also hope they keep Fromm either as second or third QB. He basically defines “the process” and was more than a competent QB in the SEC. And of course they keep the first four drafted. So yes. There’s a traffic jam for sure. Whether any of the other rookies even have a chance to make the team will depend on the length of the preseason, injuries and how Beane wants to manipulate the salary cap and whether he wants to trade any vets. for future draft picks. Perhaps another unknown here is whether the Pegulas under their current business circumstances want to drop a couple of vets. to save some millions on the salary cap until the price of oil recovers. Who knows? Thanks to everyone for your contributions and let’s all hope we get a preseason.
  10. Good question but no. The season ultimately comes down to Allen. We have a really hard projected schedule. If Allen steps up, all will be well. If Allen doesn’t step up, we could find ourselves picking high next year and I would like to give Beane another shot at choosing at quarterback in that circumstance.
  11. Beane is fantastically conscientious and competent.
  12. The Bills only draft four or five- hardly bold given the number of people making that prediction here- and one of them is a kicker if they draft five.
  13. Absolutely. Yes. Give them the chance to pick another quarterback.
  14. Isn’t one of Clowney’s knees is bone on bone? That’s as big a red flag as you will get- and especially for an edge rusher. One RB high in the draft is necessary. Let’s see what Tyler Kroft can do when he’s fit. Similarly, let’s see if Dawson Knox has continued to improve his hands before spending any more on tight end. Thanks to everyone for your input. I’m sitting at home in Sydney, Australia bored stiff and all your comments are helping keep me sane.
  15. Given McBeane stated they weren’t going to be as active in free agency as last year, I’m thinking maybe they are close to finished. In that case, I see RB, corner, OL and kicker in some order in the draft. Wouldn’t be surprised if they used their other picks to draft those four. No idea who or in what order.
  16. So, as I’m reading this, statistically, Allen is an average or slightly below average passing quarterback or overall quarterback? Do these statistics take account of his rushing numbers?
  17. How is Gruden going to coach with a paper bag over his head?
  18. Does this mean a trade partner for Lawson has been found? Or the really positive reviews for Love and Johnson have been overblown?
  19. The writer is admitting he doesn’t have any idea where the Bills will finish. This is an intelligent position to take before training camp starts.
  20. To DL and DE, add strong side LB. Right hand OT, TE and RB on offence.
  21. Hi from Australia. Could I thank everyone who contributes to this board. You have helped me learn so much more about the Bills and the NFL than I would have otherwise. In Australia, our main sports our cricket, rugby league, and Australian Rules. We also play soccer and rugby union. From following them all off and on for too many decades, I can assure you that there is one consistent law of officiating in all of them: the better team will almost always benefit from the close or contested calls. If the better team is also the home team, this rule is almost guaranteed. There’s nothing to be done except to take down the dominant team and then the rule will apply to the next dominant team. I have always really enjoyed the relative lack of controversy about officiating in NFL. I stopped following rugby league closely when complaints about the officiating became the main topic of conversation between fans and often, pundits every week. It’s boring. Please don’t let the NFL go too far down this path.
  22. Unfortunately there are a lot of other teams wanting to attract these same players. If we could score just Conley and Paradise from free agency, and draft Williams at Left tackle, we would probably have done as well as we could reasonably have hoped. Then draft two more O line, a running back and wide receiver in rounds two to five.
  23. Maybe at least part of the reason for all the above is that we were beaten before we ran into the field. This tends to happen when one team has dominated another for so long.
  24. Agree with the board. How far behind will Charles Clay and Danny Crossman be? Five or six weeks I’m guessing.
  25. Depends. like a lot of other people, happy to wave goodbye to Benjamin and Clay. If Shady is also let go, that would be the three senior offensive skills players gone. Would need to bring in some skilled and experienced replacements. Danny Crossman shouldn’t be here again. Otherwise, I think decisions will be made on the mix of experience and youth as well as individual onfield production. The way Josh Allen is progressing, depending on what is happening behind the scenes, I would hire Derek Anderson as a quarterbacks coach.
