  1. I watch from Sydney, Australia. This involves getting up at 3 or 4 am most Monday mornings. I will be getting some sleep now until the final two games of the season so I can see how Allen’s progressed (assuming he’s playing). The Bills have realistically have had two good drafts (or better depending on Allen’s progress) and there is hope for the future; especially with the amount of room under their salary cap next season. However, for this season, Daboll is what his record says he is as an OC and he shouldn’t be reemployed and it’s time for Crossman to go. The defence simply can’t put one stellar performance after another which I think accounts for some of the blowouts.
  2. There has been a fair share of criticism of Brandon Beane on this board lately but as others have pointed out, Sam Bradford has received $20 million guaranteed to last two and a half games as Arizona’s starter Tyrod Taylor received $15.5 million guaranteed to last two and a half games as Cleveland’s starter AJ McCarron cost us $4 million to try out and we got a fifth round pick in return. Looks pretty good in this respect.
  3. Gee. And just three meaningful games ago, we had made the playoffs and MCD was an excellent coach with some growing through experience still to come.
  4. Just watched his game again. Agree with the positive posters on this thread. For the first game of a developmental quarterback in those circumstances, thought he did really well.
  5. Presumably the coaches can evaluate the practice squad guys against the starters. Otherwise, they are looking and bringing in players for evaluation. They don’t have much money this year and there are good reasons available free agents are available. The one thing I can’t understand is how they do over rated Peterman that they kept only two quarterbacks. Unless they believe Josh is ready to start, they need to bring in an experienced pro to mentor him if not play. Sanchez or Moore or even EJ could help Josh much more in this regard than Peterman and might probably be more effective spot starters as well.
  6. Thank you to everyone who posted. You all know much more than me and I really appreciate the insights and points of view. I live in Sydney, Australia and only get to see the games on TV so the more opinions I read, the better I understand. Just a couple of points. It was widely reported that Brandon Beane made it very clear to Mr Pegula that it would take him three years to get the team’s financial situation back on track. Really, this is year Two. By the start of year three, the Bills’ cap situation will be looking terrific. In that sense, he has overachieved. Coach McDermott achieved a better outcome with a clearly less talented team than Rex Ryan. He is still a rookie head coach. He too has earned the benefit of the doubt despite making his share of mistakes. Their fates will and should depend on how Josh Allen is brought along. It seems to be the belief that it takes three years to evaluate draft picks. Despite the understandable disappointment and frustration with poor performances, on all counts , they deserve a break from the “fire them!” comments for the next couple of years.
  7. Based on the Browns game, whoever starts the first few games is going to be awfully beat up unless the line improves a lot. In fact, the chances are both would play anyway through injury by our first home game. Either way, the most important thing the coaches can do is decide on the line and let it develop as much chemistry as possible.
  8. Great conversation. I have some questions please. Allen hasn’t signed yet. If he hasn’t signed by Thursday, does he become a “hold out” from training camp? How are his odds of developing this year and seeing the field affected if he doesn’t fully participate in training camp? Thanks for your answers.
  9. Tom Brady has season-ending injury during regular season. Pats are beaten in first round of play-offs signalling end of the dynasty. Talk of player industrial action and/or lockout when current industrial agreement ends escalates during season. TV viewing numbers continue to decline because of above, continuing politicisation of the sport, too many stoppages in play and refereeing controversies.
  10. The Bills are a small market team. Dissing them isn’t going to cost many if any readers or subscribers to larger media. So MacBeane get ranked low, fans get ranked low, etc. This helps ensure fans in larger and more affluent markets are kept onside.
