  1. I think the Steelers know a thing or two about how to build a team. Stack an oline for a young QB...run...pass...balanced o in the cold weather built for runs in January. They have an identity...and that's very cool. ...better than our current identy which is to let Allen run around like a chicken with his head cut off and huck it deep into gusts and wind. Frankly, even K-gun prioritized oline as well...we stacked guys and horded talent on the line....you can argue that line built the K-gun. Shoot, and when the weather got cold and snowy we threw screen passes galore and ran the ball.....not the huck it deep downfield attack forcing throws into wind and bad weather that people falsely recall.
  2. Its mind baffling Virgil...I came off that Cincy game and this season thinking we really needed to get tougher on the oline. Get meaner with a more physical attitude. It appears the Bills don't share those concerns.... At a minimum, we have huge depth needs this year and needed solid bodies. No ones looking for a power running team, but Beane and CO are not on the same page with OLine talent. There have been huge mistakes and those mistakes have been made trying to find lower priced gems in the rough, bringing them in on revolving short term deals, and hoping to develop them. This has largely had C- results. This track record is a factor when I don't give Beane the "benefit of the doubt" like a good fan should. With OL matters, I simply don't trust them. Also the Bills are so stubborn on some (particular) developmental projects like Ford and Brown, they hang on to them much longer out of either arrogance or stubbornness, then jettisoned guys like Teller. Hell, even our so-called stalwarts like Dawkins and Morse, could be gone in 1-2 years. I just don't get why there was not more priority put on the OL and bringing in a top vet this off season. We had the money to do this....we chose not to and to get by with less....essentially we are not valuing the OL. This will kill us next January. I'm scratching my head on a couple of the moves / non moves.
  3. Huge miss for us. He's 2x the player McGovern is.
  4. Powers got 4/51 a contract like that could be done friendly to the cap. That's likely more cap friendly than Poyer's deal. I honestly don't see Morse here forever, and frankly Dawkins is not the stud and unquestioned bookend people think he is. Very quickly we could be depleted on the oline...and not spending much money on it with those 2 gone in 1-2 years. I really thought we needed to get one of the top Gs available in FA instead of some fringe depth guys, which we could have replaced by young guys on the draft, or UDFA. Its especially more important when you figure the team has been lousy at evaluating OL talent...both FAs and Draft picks. We don't have the track record with middle of the road gems in the rough that gives me blinding confidence. Guys like Feliciano, Spain, Nsekhe...then dudes like Van Roten, Quessenberry, Saffold...etc... there's a ton of flops....or at least guys who were avg at best. I thought it was a given the Bills were going to open up the pocket books for at least one top OL. Seems I was wrong, though there are a couple still out there I like.
  5. I would say first thing is filling the glaring gaps. Second try to improve fix areas of 2ndary weakness, and lastly to get better depth. I thought getting better for the Bills meant getting saavy tough maulers on the Oline. Oline is currently worse. We got a mid level finesse blocker, who may or may not pan out. Tons of depth holes along the 2nd string...and no improvement to other weaker starters, or guys with questionable injury history. I knew it was going to be tough to get better at QB2. We got slightly worse. I also hoped that "addressing gaps" would be w some younger players, not older players or mid level players who have never been the guy you want/ hope them to be. Because we've not clearly filled those needs, we will likely have to draft the same positions in the draft. Harty is kind of in an awkward place for me. We need more WRs but still need that slot guy, still need a big WR.
  6. Not super happy with the move. Can't get the image of his poor 2nd half play and getting trucked down after down out of my head. That and we will still need to draft young guys.
  7. Comparing him to Edmunds is moot now. That being said...David's a baller and on field leader. He'd be great for the D for a couple years.
  8. We had to be under cap by Wednesday. Don't think it means a lot...I mean it was either today or tomorrow. I think they will make a couple moves but not a big sign of anything huge.
  9. I'm not totally sure the Phins got drastically better, I'm sure they will bring in a slew of new PB caliber faces, and jettison young talent or others they picked up recently. Difference is they got a pretty good coach...but i thought they did before as well.
  10. I'll just keep my mouth shut. One of the top Gs, and I'm good. The only dude we've ever got or gone after that I wanted in FA was Takeo Spikes....
  11. Imagine if you will...an ego big enough to not post this in several of the other threads...but a thought so profound it needed its own thread for no reason.
  12. I thought players cut after the SB were not able to sign.
  13. Look I generally agree, but he visibly says crazy stuff on the sidelines and has had out with coaches. Oh, and he already turned on one team and spun up toxic relationship w a solid playoff type team.
  14. He's better off just pulling out and doing draft next year
  15. Everyone forgotten we gave up 13 seconds again at the end of the half this year?
  16. https://billswire.usatoday.com/2023/02/02/pro-football-focus-buffalo-bills-offensive-line-rankings-dion-dawkins-mitch-morse/ I don't agree. Dawkins had mediocre grades. My thoughts on the eye test was he allowed a lot more pressure this year, likely compounded by other issues on the OL. I'd think saying he was steady Eddy this year is a bit rose colored view. Additionally, I thought he looked slower and not in great shape this season. The whole line was problematic and strong data supports that. I'm not saying dump him. I think that's too much to take on for next year . But does his future factor into what Bills do at RT? I think it could, especially for a project LT that could replace Dawkins in 2 years or so.
  17. I agree here. Just so wary of our ability to fix OL w draft. Beane has missed on so many high OL picks. I think a lot of people are hung up on Spencer Brown...but I take it a step further....what is our long term thoughts on Dawkins ? For the cost, guy was lousy and may be eating himself out of the league.
  18. He lives in Broward County, where the property tax rate is 2% , and the Cost of Living is still significantly higher than Buffalo. Again, your just addicted to your own narrative. Cost of living includes many items, with several tax rates, but again, your too lazy to look that up. If the crux of your argument is he doesn't have to own a second home ...fine that would be true for any team....anywhere.
  19. The defense was extremely productive with Von. Then, we treaded water well for a few games with Groot playing solid and some weaker opponents. Secondary and team got healthy. I think the vulnerability only came late, where the DL could not maintain consistent rush and Groot lost steam. I still say turnovers were our defense biggest issue. Offense put them in bad spots. This whole season is thrown off by the aberration that is the Bengals game. I don't know why our DL had no push and got dominated. I don't have the answers for the soft coverage.
  20. I'm talking about looking it up, which you apparently are not capable of doing. The cost of living in Miami is significantly higher than Buffalo. Property tax rate is higher in Miami especially on high value property. Google. It's your friend.
