  1. I'll go with 15% to win the AFCCG vs 10% chance of missing the playoffs. We should really only miss the playoffs if Allen gets injured.
  2. Of those 4 I'll vote for Danny Dimes. The guy is the white Tyrod Taylor Watson, Murray, and Wilson all have spicy contracts too even if none were this offseason
  3. People see "racist, homophobic, sexist" in the article title and go straight to "he has to be cancelled" without allowing for any leeway. As far as the racist part goes I thought his emails were pretty mild: "Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of michellin (sic) tires." Gruden's explanation: Gruden, speaking separately to The Athletic, said he didn't remember the specifics of the email to Allen, and that he uses the term "rubber lips" to describe someone as a liar (a possible explanation for his comment on the size of Smith's lips). For the rest of it, looks like he was a fan of using the words q---r, f----t, or p---y as insults. All in all I don't think this was bad enough to force him to resign. Given these were what he thought were private emails sent 10 years ago when he wasn't even employed by the NFL I thought a public apology and maybe sensitivity training would've been enough of a punishment. My apologies if anything in the post runs afoul of this sites censorship rules.
  4. An improved O-line that's still below league average is a fair assessment. I don't get the trust for Spencer Brown. He's been wildly inconsistent and if there's one position you want a guy to be consistent it's OT. Injuries cutting into his last offseason is a lame excuse.
  5. I didn't find the article to be particularly useful. I think they needed to look at what players on each team would be looking for big contracts in the 2024 season. The only guy on the Bills is Gabe Davis. With how he played last year I don't think anyone on here would care if we let him walk. We're hardly in cap "jail" next season even though we have a lot of guys on big contracts. The Bengals are gonna have to give Burrows and Chase MASSIVE contracts. Even if they sign at a discount they will probably be the highest paid QB and WR when they sign their deals. I have to admit that the Chiefs have one of the best cap situations in the league going forward. MAYBE the lack of a big name WR and an aging Kelce will slow them down? I can dream anyway
  6. Yea, theoretically we could have had Edmunds tackle Kelce at the LOS. Taking a pretty big risk though if another player commits a penalty organically you're giving up 15 yards and no time off the clock.
  7. There's been a rule for a few years now to make it impossible to kill the clock by fouling. ARTICLE 3. INTENTIONAL FOULS TO MANIPULATE GAME CLOCK A team may not commit multiple fouls during the same down in an attempt to manipulate the game clock. Penalty: For multiple fouls to run off time from the game clock: Loss of 15 yards, and the game clock will be reset to where it was at the snap. After the penalty is enforced, the game clock will start on the next snap.
  8. In order for me 1) Preparation and game planning 2) Defense needs to improve 3) Offense other than Diggs/Allen needs to improve 4) Allen/Diggs need to improve The O-line has been a major liability and if they improve then Allen/Diggs will naturally improve as well. The defense has been a train wreck in 3 straight playoff losses. Spare me the "they only allowed 27 points to the Bengals" argument. They gave up 30 first downs, forced 2 punts (1 in garbage time), 1 sack for 2 yards, and 0 turnovers. That's not close to being good enough to win a game.
  9. The article I saw lead with Isaiah Rodgers (Colts kick returner/backup CB) "and others". Presumably he's the biggest name on the list.
  10. I don't want to fire him (yet) and I couldn't care less that he's a defensive minded head coach. What I care about is that his "side" of the ball has been absolutely dominated in 3 straight playoff losses, that the entire team looked woefully unprepared for 2 of those games, and that 13 seconds was an all time coaching blunder. From what I can remember Dungy's defenses with the Colts played relatively well in their losses (other than the 41-0 loss to the Jets). I don't recall any coaching blunders like 13 seconds by him either, but it has been a while.
  11. Given the massive dead cap we'd incur the next 2 seasons by trading Diggs there's really no "right circumstances" that we can trade him. The situation would have to deteriorate to the point that he's sitting out or sabotaging his on field play. At which point we trade him for whatever we can get and live with the dead cap
  12. Bengals have a defense that actually shows up in the playoffs. They haven't allowed more than 24 points in a playoff game these last 2 years
  13. Tremaine Edmunds is coming back ? I was never a huge fan of his, but losing him is going to hurt the DEF. That being said I could easily see our DEF being top 10 next season. Maybe top 5 OFF should be top 5
  14. Foster is a good one. I don't know if they've been mentioned yet in this thread but what about PS heroes Duke Williams and Gibran Hamdan ? There was so much hype on here about those guys over the years. For me it was probably JP Losman. I spent years thinking he was the guy and just needed better coaching / O Line. And of courses the 2018 draft I wanted: 1a) Baker Mayfield 1b) Sam Darnold 3) Josh Rosen 4) Josh Allen N/A) Lamar Jackson - I never even considered that we would draft him as a QB so didn't have him in my rankings. I could not have been more wrong on that QB class
  15. Beasley is an idiot that can't tell the difference between "boo" and "bease". Why would I care about what he thinks of Dak's leadership ?
  16. I feel a little bit worse this year even though it's pretty easy to convince myself that the roster improved this offseason. Going into last offseason, with how Josh played against the Patriots and Chiefs in the playoffs, it felt like we could only lose to Mahomes or maybe Burrow in a playoff game. Going into this offseason I've been reminded that this team will pull a disappearing act for at least 1 game per season under McD, and if it happens in a playoff game again we're obviously toast.
  17. McDermott is a dinosaur of a coach and is "very concerned" if a player skips practice. If Diggs wasn't one of the best WRs in the league you can bet that McD would've kicked him off the team by now.
  18. I'm not big on McDermott, but SB or bust is too high of a bar. I'd be bitterly disappointed with another early playoff exit, but there's multiple elite teams every year that don't win the SB. What I think should put him on the hot seat / get him fired: 1) End the regular season with a losing record and miss the playoffs entirely 2) Another terrible defensive performance in the playoffs (4th year in a row and can't blame it on Frazier this time) 3) Another coaching blunder in the playoffs ala 13 seconds
  19. I'd put the over/under at 450 yards and 4 TDs 1) As a general rule NFL rookie TEs do not produce big numbers, even the 1st round picks 2) He's almost guaranteed to be the TE2 for us and will be competing with a lot of guys for targets 3) McD is hard on rookies. 1 fumble/mistake will see him benched for multiple games
  20. NFL contracts infuriate me. "Fully" guarantee is redundant. If the other "guarantees" are not 100% for sure going to happen then they aren't guarantees are they? To get back on topic for Oliver, based on initial reports I thought this was a rather bad contract with 45 mil guaranteed. With "fully" guaranteed money of only 24 mil this is actually a good deal.
  21. I didn't say he was paid like a superstar, but that his contract is closer to superstar money (20+) than a replacement level guy (~10 or less). If different terminology is clearer; I think Oliver is above average, but closer to the average player than an elite one.
  22. I think Oliver is a pretty good player, but he's closer to a replacement level player than he is to a super-star player. Unfortunately his new contract is closer to super-star money than it is replacement level money. You can manipulate the cap as much as you want, but I don't think it's worth it for a guy like Oliver and would not be surprised if this hurts us in the next few seasons.
  23. Interesting poll... I settled on lower even though I think he deserves more. It's debatable if Odell or Deandre had the better peak in their careers, but it's indisputable that Odell's play has fallen off A LOT in recent years (whereas Deandre has only fall off a little). The Ravens were in a desperate situation with Lamar unsigned and grossly overpaid a 30 year old OBJ coming off a devastating injury. They HAD to bring him in to show Lamar they were serious about getting him weapons (I also wonder if Lamar specifically told them to go get OBJ). The reported front runners for Hopkins are the Bills and Chiefs. Both teams have their QBs locked up and no reports of discontent. Both teams are at the cap (although can always restructure deals for more space). I don't see either of those teams paying Hopkins more than 10 million. I guess it comes down to Hopkins. Does he want to chase a ring with Bills/Chiefs? Or does he want to try and maximize earnings? It certainly seems like he's prioritizing the ring so I expect him to sign with Bills/Chiefs at a discount.
  24. I'm probably more critical of McD than the average Bills fan, but to have him at 22 is laughable. I think he's closer to 10th best than 20th. Ross Tucker says that McD has inexplicable losses to bad teams in the regular season???!! We've lost 2 games to teams that finished the season with a losing record in the past 3 years. Reid and the Chiefs have more losses to teams with a losing record in the same time frame.
