  1. I would argue Phillips could earn that much. Maybe it won’t be with us, but who knows. And I like Henry as well, but paying him $15M+ per year just sounds like a bad investment. Running backs are literally plug and play. I think they draft another back in the 3rd or 4th round. Najee Harris? Cam Akers? AJ Dillon? They’re not Derrick Henry but they could help compliment Singletary to give us a top-5 rushing attack. I wholeheartedly agree on Shenault though. Really is love them to go after AJ Green AND draft Viska as well.
  2. Listening to the press conference of both McDermott and Beane, but in particular Beane, I felt I could offer my attempt to analyze the typically cryptic GM-speak regarding the future plans for the roster this off-season on a position-by-position basis... QB: Easy enough. Josh is their guy. They believe he has it in him to be the guy. I think discussing him Beane may have slightly given away where they plan to improve the most. More on that shortly. Nothing specific said, but I’d assume Barkley is under contract and will likely stay that way. RB: Singletary showed why they picked him where they did, he’s a talented starter. Gore helped Devin immensely, but unless they can’t get anyone they like in free agency or the draft that can lighten Singletary’s load, Gore won’t be back in 2020. WR: I believe when discussing Allen, Beane lightly discussed their job of getting him weapons. That, COMBINED WITH going after Antonio Brown last off-season, AND purportedly being in on AJ Green at the deadline, AND watching Allen’s desire to hit a big target like Duke Williams in the Houston game, will put the onus on management to get their guy more weapons in order to help him take that next step. Could we maybe see Williams, McKenzie & Foster all be replaced next season? TE: They’re really impressed by Knox, showed a lot of potential for such a raw prospect. They’ll keep Kroft around for leadership, Sweeney and Smith will battle to be the 3rd TE suited up on game days. I expect little action at this position this off-season. OT: He didn’t commit to Ford at tackle, but I believe that’s what they want. They still have Bates in the roster and will get Waddle back next season after he missed all of this year, and Nsekhe will be healthy. So there will be competition here but I believe they’re looking for Ford to have a big off-season and make a marked improvement in year 2. OG: I think Spain is a guy they won’t over commit to. He was signed later in free agency last season, and there will he guys of his caliber available for the same term/cost this year as well. If he gets a multi-year deal in free agency, Buffalo will let him walk. They still have Long as a backup who can start. And I expect if they draft a player it’ll be a day 3 guy who can compete here. C- Nothing said really but I believe they’re happy with Morse and Feliciano showed he can back up in the middle when needed. OL overall: I think they want to see another year of these guys together. If Spain leaves they’ll look to improve LG, but they won’t chase him for big money, multiple years. Defensive end: They definitely want to add an edge rusher. That’s what I got out of it. Beane spoke to how hard elite players at the position are to acquire. It makes me believe they will attack this position in free agency as opposed to the draft. They’ll attempt to bring back Shaq on a 2-4tear deal, he’s one of their guys. But they won’t pay more than $8M or so. I think Murphy will be gone. Hughes is a player they hope to see rebound but if he doesn’t 2020 could be his last year here, hence the urgency to upgrade edge rusher. I also believe they consider Lorenzo more of an edge than LB, and that will be another reason to upgrade the position as well. They’ll basically try to get Shaq back, along with Hughes, and then try to upgrade Murphy. When they upgrade Murphy, Murphy will be cut. Johnson will challenge Mike Love for the 4th spot on the roster. DT: Phillips wants to test the market. I think they believe he’ll be disappointed by what he finds. Beane spoke to guys having different ideas of their market value as opposed to their team. I think Beane has a better idea of what Jordan is worth. He didn’t make the pro bowl, wasn’t an all-pro and seemed disappointed by both. He had nice sack numbers, but for a 340lb man he gets pushed around a lot up front. I also believe he is one player that they will “have frank discussions about” as Beane alluded to. LB: Edmunds & Milano are two of the guys they want to keep as part of their core, could see Milano (along with Dawkins, who I forgot to mention above) get extensions this summer. Vosean Joseph basically redshirted and will be given a chance to compete for playing time. They’ll probably bring in a cheaper veteran to be a SAM linebacker of sorts, but I wouldn’t expect any huge investment with the amount of nickel they play and their ability to line up with a “big nickel” using Siran Neal in the slot. CB: They will extend the 5th year option to Tre White. He will play out 2020 on his deal and likely sign an extension in the summer of 2021 to tack onto his 5th year. Kevin Johnson will probably be brought back unless he gets some ridiculous offer, and he will again compete with Wallace for playing time. I expect a mid-round Pick used toward this position as well. S: I think they want to see if Jaquan Johnson can be solid enough at safety to eventually replace Poyer. Hyde is the more important of the two and so he will be the priority, but I believe they view Poyer as someone that they’ll need to have a discussion about, missing a couple tackles in that big game (everyone did towards the end, but Poyer looked a bit slow to the ball as well, he might’ve just been gassed though). But if Jaquan Johnson can be a viable replacement, it’s another area where they can move an expensive contract out in exchange for a rookie deal and that’s all they want to keep doing especially as Poyer gets closer to the big 3-0. Some of this I obviously surmised without comments being specifically made about a position group, but this is my general gist on how they feel about the roster. If I had to make a guess I would say 1. They will bring back Shaq. 2. Jordan Phillips tests the market, is disappointed and stays in Buffalo on a 2yr deal around $7M-$8M per year. 3. Quinton Spain leaves 4. Kevin Johnson brought back on a 2yr deal. 5. DE is pursued in free agency. Ngakoue, Beasley, Fowler, Quinn will all be targets. 6. Receiver and offense in general will be added through free agency and the draft. Still wouldn’t count out an AJ Green trade if he is tagged by the Bengals.
  3. Barkley has another year. They’re not moving him.
  4. I don’t think so. They both want an aggressive quarterback. But I think they’d agree there’s a difference between aggressive and reckless. 1st half the team, and therefore Josh, were aggressive. In the 2nd half I believe the team became conservative, which led to Josh getting nervous, frustrated and caused him to then feel like he needed to make things happen, which he did recklessly. They don’t want a checkdown Kelly Holcomb. They don’t want reckless Jameis Winston. They want an aggressive playmaker (Brett Favre. Not in terms of the career numbers, but in terms of his style of play).
  5. Biggest need is a #1 WR. Hands down. No doubt. For anyone saying edge, linebacker or anything on defense... -we held that offense under 20pts in regulation -we had 7 sacks in this game alone. And we lost.
  6. I agree on Green. I’d also be willing to draft another big target in round 1 or 2. Especially if the Bengals tag Green and try to trade him. We’d basically have him on a one year prove it deal, and his successor would basically be waiting in the Wings. And if it was someone like Shenault he could still be used in a variety of ways and basically replace what they had in McKenzie. Imagine a group of weapons like: AJ Green John Brown Cole Beasley Laviska Shenault One of Duke Williams/Isaiah Mckenzie/Robert Foster Andre Roberts Then at tight end: Knox Sweeney Kroft Plus: Singletary free agent like Breida or Drake 3rd round draft pick I have no doubt Beane will be on a mission to add weapons for Allen.
  7. I know everyone is thinking about Brady leaving New England, but what about Bill B.? He’s been there a long time, but when Garoppolo was there, Belichick was prepared to make the hard decision. Trade/move on from Brady, let the team belong to Jimmy G., and spend another 10+ years as a contender in the AFC. If Brady leaves/retires, they have to bring in and develop a new guy into the system. McDaniel’s would likely also take a head job somewhere else as well. Also, the Giants gig is open. Bill spent a lot of time there, and was part of two super bowl victories there. He would have a young QB to build with, and would be one guy that could come in and have final say over Gettleman or more likely take over his job altogether.
  8. I think it shows the league that market size isn’t always an indicator of profitability in a market. If Buffalo continues to be a contender they’ll get as good if not better tv ratings further helping the nfl’s case for more money in a new deal.
  9. I would think Hyde is the better player to invest in. Jaquan Johnson looked solid in limited snaps, and I wonder if Neal could make the move to safety as well. He made some decent plays against Houston but I think he’s built more for safety than corner in this league.
  10. ??? Seriously? Look around. He’s projected by most as the #4 or at worst #5 receiver after Jeudy/Lamb/Ruggs III, and in a close battle with Shenault for the #4 spot. I think there’s a drop after Jeudy/Lamb, and then another drop after Ruggs III/Higgins/Shenault.
  11. Bad decisions were made. Hopefully he’ll learn from his mistakes. I would expect him to at least try to. He doesn’t come off as a lazy or unaccountable guy.
  12. I have a feeling Bengals will rag him and try to trade him. conditional 2021 3rd that becomes a 2nd based on playing time and/or contract extension?
  13. I’m upset with the loss. Doesn’t mean I’m not excited for this teams future. i believe they’ll invest around Allen this off-season.
  14. I’m assuming the Bengals will tag AJ Green and try to trade him. what would he cost to play one year with under the tag? Do that and draft Shenault in round 1. your receivers could be... Green Brown Beasley Shenault Roberts Plus one of McKenzie/Foster/Williams or even another later draft pick.
  15. It was a fun season. I’m optimistic because they have a strong base of talent, they have all their picks and few extra late ones, and they have money to spend. I think McDermott realizes he can coach the defense he has to be a contender worthy group. I believe he realizes they need more weapons for Josh on offense in order for him to develop
  16. I think time will be the biggest benefit for this group. Even if Spain leaves, they have Long. If they keep Spain, they can cut Long, and draft a player. But with a group of 5 who had never played before, continuity and chemistry will go a long way in Year 2.
  17. I think Jordan Phillips will get bigger money elsewhere. They can sign someone in free agency at lesser cost to rotate as a backup with Oliver. Star will back up Harrison Phillips. Sign Lawson at about $7M per year. He’s strong against the run, but he’s not a great pass rusher. Offer Spain somewhere in the $7M per year range as well. I think he’ll be able to get more on the free agent market. I think Feliciano is the more valuable player and I don’t want to invest too much money into the guards when we already invested into Morse and will likely need to spend $10+ on Dawkins. Wallace and Foster are ERFA’s so they can’t go anywhere else. They’ll come back basically at what they were paid this year. That’ll be no more than $1.5M combined for the two of them. If they do need a guard I would like to see them go after BJ Finney. He’s been the 6th offensive lineman for Pittsburgh for a few years and has started at both guard spots and center. He could challenge Spencer Long for the starting gig. Then draft another lineman in the later rounds (tackle in round 5) to challenge Waddle and Bates for the swing job.
  18. I mean he’s also had garbage at QB until now. Allen is basically the best QB he’s had as an OC. 2009-2010 Cleveland Browns: Brady Quinn/Derek Anderson/Colt McCoy (32nd & 29th ranked offenses) 2011 Miami Dolphins: Matt Moore/Chad Henne (20th ranked offense) 2012 Kansas City: Matt Cassel/Brady Quinn/ Ricky Stanzi Thats just a list of bad QB’s. He’s finally got one he can develop, give them time together.
  19. I have a different situation than most. I had season tickets for two years in college. But I own my own business, which is open (and the busiest day is) on Sundays. I live in Tonawanda, and I understand how many commute from wherever they commute from, but if I’m spending the money to have someone cover me at work, I don’t want to drive down and worry about how much I’m drinking, so then I’m finding a DD or taking an Uber or some other type of transport. Plus my family just doesn’t do it much. Not to mention, why spend my day out in piss weather when, as posted above I can be comfortable in my own home with a great view from a 60” HDTV? The fan experience will always be there and when my son gets to the right age (10?) I’m gonna take him to some games to experience what it is. And if he wants to do it that’s fine. But it’s become more work as opposed to plopping on the couch and enjoying myself.
  20. Buffalo, Niagara Falls Blvd near Robinson.
  21. Saw the T-shirts at wegmans. Didn’t look enough to see if they have hoodies but I’m totally going to get one tomorrow
  22. I think something helpful for allen would be if they decided to run some jet sweeps, or even a trick play with John brown throwing it again. Something to totally put Houston off kilter. It would quiet the crowd and five our offense some confidence early on.
  23. I believe Houston’s O-Line is weaker on the interior. They allowed I believe 44 sacks this season. Not great, not as bad they were in previous years. Tunsil has helped, which is why I agree with the OP that Oliver will be key. If he can get after Watson, it will shift that matchup in our favor.
  24. We may have lead the league in drops, but not only because of Knox. Don’t forget Zay. He dropped passes like it was going out of style.
  25. He wasn’t used as a receiving option in college and played QB in high school. He also missed time during training camp. Give him another off-season. Year 2 will be a big change for him. He might not be Kittle, Ertz, or Kelce, but he’ll be a valuable receiving tight end.
