  1. I think those two things are key reasons he won’t be signing here. 1) more economic options 2) deep draft and don’t forget #3 Cooper basically said he does not want to play in Buffalo while at the Pro Bowl.
  2. Knox was also a rookie who played QB in high school and despite his athletic ability, was used as a blocking tight end in college. He has the athletic package to be an elite tight end, he just needs Time to develop.
  3. People do understand Hooper has to WANT to come here, right? And do people want them to give him an unprecedented amount of money to sign him? Same goes for Hunter Henry. Hooper is a California boy who played at Stanford and then in Atlanta. I doubt he’s going to want to move to the northeast. Basically said as much during pro bowl interviews. Also, Beane and McDermott are looking for “market definiencies”. They want to guys who will give similar value for less money. I think people are looking too hard at Kelce/Kittle and believe we need someone like that. Honestly if I had to pick between Hooper and Knox of who had the potential to put up those types of numbers, it’d be close. Knox has A TON of potential. Adding a guy like Olsen who can teach so much about the game to a guy like Knox will be so advantageous to his development. Similar to what Gore has seemed to do for Singletary.
  4. I mean I’m thinking Beasley on a two year deal, maybe $6M aav, with about $5M guaranteed. He could be part of the rotation. Beasley, Shaq, Hughes and either Murphy, Johnson or a draft pick. I know we’d all like to see Clowney or Ngakoue, but those players might not want to come to Buffalo, let alone Buffalo being willing to pay what they want.
  5. What’s he expected to cost per year? I wonder if the Bills could entertain bringing him in. He’s been playing linebacker the past couple years. If he could go back to having his hand in the dirt he might have more success?
  6. I agree with most of your sentiment. I think they’ll have to make some hard decisions. But hypothetically they have roughly $90M in cap space. Now I’m no capologist, but roughly let’s say they do something like this. (All Prices are Annual Average Salary) Unrestricted FA's: Frank Gore- Retires* Lorenzo Alexander- Retires* Jordan Phillips - LEAVES Kurt Coleman - LEAVES Quinton Spain -3yrs-$6M Kevin Johnson - 1yr-$3M Shaq Lawson - 3yrs $8M Corey Liuget - 1yr $1M Dean Marlowe - 1yr-$1M Isiah McKenzie - 1yr-$2M ERFA’s Levi Wallace - Re-Sign - $500K Robert Foster - Re-Sign - $500K Total Spent on Re-Signings = $22M Starting Players heading into last year of deal: (extensions are my belief on how much extra above their 2020 cap hit it will take to re-sign the player, example, Tre’s 2020 cap hit is $3.2M. If Buffalo gives him his 5th year options, his price in 2021 will be about $10M, so an additional $7M more than his 2020 cap hit). Trent Murphy - Cut (Save $7.2M) Ty Yeldon - Cut (Save $1.9M) Ty Nsekhe - Let play out Jon Feliciano - Let Play Out Jordan Poyer - Extend: +$7M Tre White - 5th yr option: +$7M Andre Roberts - Let Play Out Patrick DiMarco - Let Play Out Matt Barkley - Let Play Out Dion Dawkins - Extend: +$12M Matt Milano - Extend: +$9M Corey Bojorquez - Let Play Out Total Spent on Extensions for 2021= $35M total Total Cap Space: $89M -$22M (Re-Signing our own) $67M +$9M (Savings from cutting Murphy & Yeldon) $76M -$35M (to give cushion for 2021 ext’s) $41M -$4M Draft Picks $37M Available for Free Agency Now of that $37M, $25M or so is rollover. So that takes you down to about $12M to really spend on long term deals. But don’t forget that next season that they will likely be able to move on from Hughes and Star, saving an additional $19M or so. And the cap will go up another $10M or so. So that would add another $30M or so to our coffers next year. So we have room, but will need to save space in order to re-sign our own. Beane needs to figure out 1) who is our core. 2) who deserves long-term versus short term deals, frontloaded versus backloaded and guaranteed versus non guaranteed deals. They have the cap space this year, and the flexibility in the coming years to make a deal for one of the big ticket free agents. My belief is that it would come at the expense of one of our current guys, and I pretty firmly believe that will be Poyer. Just my own belief, but I think he’s out after this year.
  7. Like Tyler Kroft? I don’t see how it impedes. I think he’d be a valuable asset for both of them and Allen as well.
  8. I don’t see how/why Beane wouldn’t look into it. Seeing The Athletic’s article by Matt Fairburn about players wanting to come to Buffalo, I think those thinking we’re just going to go out and sign Ngakoue, Hooper, Cooper and Conklin, let alone ANY of them, will likely be disappointed. The big name guys have their choice of market. Just because we made the playoffs, have an exciting young QB (exciting, not necessarily Very good in the eyes of many) and fans who will jump through tables for you, means that those guys will want to come to Buffalo. If Olsen would come here I would pounce on it. Similarly to Gore he could be a nice addition for Knox (and also Allen, who is a similar QB in some ways to Newton).
  9. Beane wasn’t here when Zay was picked. That was McDermott with Whaley as the GM. But I believe you are correct that Beane has shown he’ll go after the guys with the athletic upside. The examples sre like you posted above. Although Tremaine, for as young as he was when picked, still had a good amount of playing time. I do believe 1st round at least they’ll Likely go high ceiling guy. Not sure if he falls but I could see them liking Epenesa a lot. Big bodied defensive end who uses a lot of power moves.
  10. Two of the best in a decade? Idk about that. They both had really nice rookie years. But who knows about long term. To say best in a decade is a bit far fetched. And while it’s still early, last years class was seen to be a bit of a disappointing group. Whereas this year is looking to be the best group since the Watkins group. Let’s see how this all turns out before rushing to judgement. Out of last years draft they got, a starting DT(Oliver), a probable starting OL(Ford), a starting RB(Singletary), a starting caliber TE(Knox), a potential starting safety down the road (J. Johnson). So 4 starters, 3 on offense and solid depth for the defense as well. And if we need to rely on the schedule to make a super bowl run, how are we even super bowl caliber? Also, as for getting home field, we were better in the road anyways, so you can’t say for sure home field would’ve helped. You’re basically assuming that drafting one of Brown or Metcalf would’ve put us over the top. That’s not for certain because no one knows how either would’ve played in this offense. Metcalf wouldn’t have a top-5 QB throwing him the ball. And Brown wouldn’t have had limited coverages because teams were loading 8 in the box to stop Henry. It’s all relative. I’m happy with where the team’s at and believe they have a plan in place. I do believe they scout ahead as well and determined to get veteran receivers for Allen first, and then supplement those this year with what they and many have predicted would be one of the deepest WR classes in years. Most analysts have over 10 receivers in their top-50 players and many have 17-20 in their top-100 players. This is also a class with 6QB’s predicted to go in the top-50 as well, so that can cause other positions to get pushed further down. We will have ample opportunity this off-season to draft big, skilled WR’s. And don’t forget, we did draft Knox out of that group of Ole Miss guys who were not used properly. He could be the gem of the bunch. People forget the kid played QB in high school and only caught 39 balls in 3yrs he actually played at Ole Miss. He was mostly used as a blocker. Give him an off-season to work on his ball skills. I bet next year he breaks out a bit, 45-50catches, 600-700yd type season
  11. I think that’s it. I fully expect the Bengals to tag him.
  12. Actually all he’s said is he wants to stay in Cincinnati and the team has stated they’ll use the franchise tag. It’s not a direct quote, but when it came u about being tagged, green said he doesn’t want to play on a one year contract, it isn’t someone to turn down $18M https://www.google.com/amp/s/bengalswire.usatoday.com/2020/01/23/aj-green-franchise-tag-reaction-bengals-free-agency/amp/
  13. I prefer to draft O-Linemen later on. Especially this year, I think it’s a bad O-Line class in general. There are just so many guys that have hit that are late rounders or undrafted. I think we just need to keep building the depth and the majority of the group just needs time on task. I think he’s totally correct about edge rushers. Even if they get Shaq back, I think he and Hughes are rotational guys at best. Sign a stud and draft a guy who can rotate with one of Hughes/Lawson, or vice versa, draft a stud and sign a mid level type of player. I believe they should draft 2 receivers and sign 1 as well. The signee could be as simple a guy as Geronimo Allison., just added competition. But with the depth of this class they need to draft at least two, one in rounds 1-2 and one in rounds 3-5. As for tight end, if Hooper is willing to come to Buffalo, I’d look into it. He and Knox would be a solid 1/2 punch there. If not, then I’m fine with the group we have for another year. As for that edge/SLB hybrid spot vacated by Zo, I would love to see either of Baun or Uche. I believe Baun will be a top-40 pick though. Uche should be available in the 3rd or 4th. I also believe running back is a draft need as well. Maybe a day 3 player but someone who can come and contribute behind Singletary.
  14. I’m saying the good ones at $13 won’t be available. And I think the only $13M receiver available will be Robby Anderson, who I believe is the definition of mediocre.
  15. I think where we are at receiver we can afford to draft 2 receivers and sign one. I think Foster, Duke and McKenzie are all replacement level players. They’re all #5-#6 receivers on NFL rosters. We have a #2 in Brown (who has had difficulty staying healthy), and a #3 in Beasley. We need a #1, a #4 and a #5. You wanna spend money on a tight end? Sure, I wouldn’t spend it on Hunter Henry because he gets hurt more than Tyler Kroft. But if you want to go after Hooper, that’s great. I just don’t think you can guarantee he’ll come here. And please don’t bring up Eric Ebron. His catch percentage is comparable to Knox, and Knox is a rookie who blocked all through college and played QB in high school. I’m not saying I don’t think a tight end would be nice, I just think between Knox, Kroft and Sweeney they have the ingredients for a solid group, I would be really impressed if they could land Hooper. But I think they have a WAY better chance of signing a guy like Perriman, or DeMarcus Robinson, or Geronimo Allison, or someone on that level to add depth to a group that lacks a true #1 and the depth to supplement the guys already here.
  16. I see him getting 1-2 yrs, AAV of $6M-$7M. Gotta rememver teams know this draft class is loaded, I think it will put a damper on how high WR contracts go for those middle of the road guys like Perriman. AJ Green is likely to be franchises and wants to stay in Cincinnati. I think he’s likely to do so. Amari Cooper will also be likely to stay in Dallas. Who do you wanna spend big money on? Robby Anderson? Wanna pay Sammy Watkins money ($13M+ per year) for a guy who’s never broken 1000yds receiving in his career? Speaking of Watkins, he could be a cut candidate in order for KC to give Mahomes his money... wanna take that for another spin? I don’t and I highly doubt the Bills do. Beasley was Dallas’ 3rd receiver. Brown was barrly seen as a legit #2 by many in the league. Get a guy like Perriman who can 1) add depth to your group and possibly replace Foster/Duke Williams. 2) won’t break the bank and kill you if it doesn’t work out.
  17. He’d be a solid addition. I don’t expect Cooper or Green to hit the market. I don’t want Robby Anderson. Perriman will also cost less than any of those guys, and maybe even half as much as Anderson.
  18. Ngakoue, not Clowney imo. Ngakoue splits time with Hughes in 2020. Hughes is cut after 2020 season. Shaq re-signed, and Bills draft a defensive end in Round 1 or Round 2. Murphy cut by June 1.
  19. I see them going for one guy in the top 10 (maybe 2 if they go after Hooper) , and then maybe 2-3 others in the top 100
  20. Dude made the 8 most amazing passes I’ve EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!! All joking aside, Patriots made a mistake moving him. He would’ve been a perfect guy to make the transition from Brady.
  21. There could be 4 additions. And I would say they have invested. Draft: Harrison Phillips 3rd Round Pick Ed Oliver 1st Round Pick Free Agents: Trent Murphy Stat Lotulelei Extended: Jerry Hughes -You could argue that you don’t agree with how they’re investing at D-Line, but they’re definitely putting valuable resources there. And I would argue they have a set up in place. Murphy is $9M/yr, but can be cut this off-season if they find a better option. Star is $10M/yr but can be cut after 2020. Hughes is also expensive but can be cut after the 2020 season. I do believe they’ll bring Shaq back. I also believe they’ll spend another $8-$20M on a free agent (I’m not sure how hard they want to go, or who they like, so it could vary greatly, they could go after a Vic Beasley for $6-$8 per year, or Ngakoue for $18-$20 per year.) i also believe they’ll draft an edge in round 1 or 2. They’ve made quality additions to this team at Corner, Safety, Linebackers. On offense they’ve re-done the entire group. And made the playoffs while converting an old expensive roster into a young cheap one. I think it’s a good sign that they’ll make quality improvements on the edge this off-season as well.
  22. I’m happy with drafting any of Higgins Shenault or Jefferson at 22. I like Chaisson & Gross-Matos, but I think the edge guys will go very early. Could see a bunch of teams go edge between 5-20. Detroit they move down to 5 or so. 7. Carolina 11. NY Jets 13. Indianapolis 14. Tampa Bay 16. Atlanta 18. Miami
  23. I think Long silk depend on what happens with Spain and the draft. Either way I think he at least goes into training camp to challenge for a spot.
