  1. We saw Wyatt Teller & Russell Bodine get dealt for late round picks last season. This year were much deeper and better overall in Our talent base. Looking at that so we see Buffalo doing a similar set of moves this off-season. basically feels like Beane has his own way of getting comp picks without getting the actual Comp picks. but I could see guys like Robert Foster, Ryan Bates, Ty Nsekhe, & Trent Murphy getting dealt for picks if anyone will take them. who do you feel is a candidate and what could they get in return for them if they were traded?
  2. I’m hoping Epenesa takes a number in the 90’s or 70’s after pre-season cuts and all that.
  3. Corner? Maybe. But I believe McDermott’s system and coaching can coach up whoever they decide to put opposite Tre at CB2. Plus between Norman, Gaines, Wallace & Jackson they should be deep enough to put one of those guys out their and win enough battles. I believe Beane will do exactly that with cut candidates. Foster or Duke probably won’t get anything. But Spencer Long might get you a 5th or 6th to a team in need of an interior OL. Murphy could possibly get us a 4th? I’m just spitballing at these returns but they got a 7th for Marshall Newhouse and a 6th for Russell Bodine. I mean... damn.
  4. I would think he does. But I was just trying to put two lines together that we’re balanced in terms of each having a pass rusher (Hughes and Addison), an edge setter (Epenesa & Murphy) a 1-tech ( Phillips/Lotulelei) and a 3-tech (Oliver/Jefferson). you can put them however you’d like but regardless they’re both starting caliber defensive lines. Not great, but starting caliber.
  5. I know they might not be in the top-5 or even top-10 in terms of high end talent (no Von Miller/Myles Garrett type of Freak), but overall I believe we may have the deepest D-Line in the league. As a base defense, With everyone healthy, we can make two starting caliber defensive lines and have a starting caliber player as my 9th defensive lineman... Group 1: LDE: Epenesa 1-Tech: Phillips 3-Tech: Oliver RDE: Hughes Group 2: LDE: Murphy 1-Tech: Lotulelei 3-Tech: Jefferson RDE: Addison Extras: Butler & D. Johnson
  6. I believe that’s somewhat purposeful. They want their ends to set the edge and their pass rush to come from the interior more often than not. My guess is it was originally to utilize Kyle Williams which has now turned into utilizing Ed Oliver and likely Epenesa inside as well. not that they don’t want ANY rush from the edge, I just believe they want to be proficient in setting an edge so that when they play a guy like Jackson, or Mahomes, they can contain that aspect of said QB and force them to make throws (especially Jackson).
  7. Could have, but Greenard doesn’t really play the same position in our defense. I believe Hughes and Addison will rotate as the RDE, with Addison going to the left end on passing downs. So those spots are already filled IMO. Epenesa can rotate as the LDE on 1st/2nd down with Murphy/D. Johnson and even Q. Jefferson, and then move inside on passing downs. I understand the sentiment. I also don’t believe the difference between Moss & Dobbins is that huge. Moss slipped because of the injuries. If the Bills aren’t worried about it I’m not either. They have had a good track record in regard to player health and injuries.
  8. Really good pick. Solid draft. Beane knows how to add pieces. These two are going to be significant contributors, just like Singletary, Knox, Harrison Phillips, Cody Ford, who were also drafted in rounds 2 & 3. i believe Epenesa could be a special player.
  9. Right! But for real, they love to rotate their defensive linemen, this only helps. And it’s a key position where they needed to add youth. I’m quite happy with the pick
  10. I’m happy with it. If they’re allowed to keep 55 on the roster as opposed to 53, I could see them keeping 10 defensive linemen. I was not expecting it, but personally I love it. DE: Hughes Addison Epenesa Murphy D. Johnson DT: Oliver Lotulelei Phillips Jefferson Butler
  11. As a subscriber to the Athletic, I’ve read SOOOOOOOO many articles and listened to SOOOOOOOO many podcasts from Buscaglia & Fairburn about our “need” for a big nickel. I understand what their premise is. At the same time I don’t see the crazy need for it. In my view, Siran Neal showed up more and more as the season went on last year. He was definitely a project when they drafted him and I believe he can help fill that role. Jaquan Johnson is also another possibility to fill that role. He doesn’t have much tape but the finale against the Jets he was all over the field, and I believe he could become a bigger part of the defense this season. Dean Marlowe, while not a great player, has filled in sufficiently there. There’s also have Hyde and Poyer who can Step up and handle that role as well if needed situationally. I also believe they were looking at Dugger & Chinn in case they were unable to come to an agreement with Poyer, but they since have extended him and are set at safety. I believe the bigger question when looking at a player like Dugger is if he can replace Milano. If they believe he can, then I’m all for it. But I also listen to a lot of Joe Marino (who I trust more than Buscaglia or Fairburn) basically said Dugger hasn’t really shown on tape he can do what they would be looking for in a “Big Nickel”. I just don’t see the desire to use 54 for a guy who will play 1-2 years situationally and has to make a big step up from DII, who is also already 24yrs old.
  12. Pizza, popcorn, all sorts of snacks for myself. The wife is hooking me up tonight. Gonna get in a zoom with my brother and brother in-law. Drinking game, we all have to pick who each team is gonna select when they’re up. If we’re wrong we gotta drink. Got a bottle of Jack Fire at the house ready!!!
  13. Camp body? I just don’t see him being able to stay healthy.
  14. Probably. And Jacksonville is also cheap so I could see them viewing Adams as valuable because he’s probably going to be $10-$12M cheaper per year when he re-signs.
  15. So both teams have two unhappy young players who will need new contracts. To Jets: DE- Yannik Ngakoue To Jaguars: S- Jamal Adams gives the Jets the edge rusher they’ve been lacking for years. Gives Jacksonville a veteran to lead their defense and allows Jacksonville to use their two first rounders to supplement that. Jets might need to make a small add as positional value gives Ngakoue a bit more value.
  16. I hope so. The teams I really see possibly looking for one early on... Miami- But they need everything else besides CB. Round 2 could be a definite possibility. Would see them going for a pass catching back to compliment the spread under Gailey. I would see QB, OT, WR, DT, ILB and S as more dire needs for them right now. Tampa Bay- They also need O-Line help. Could see this as a spot in Round 2. I think they’d be looking for a Swift/Edwards-Helaire type in order to help Brady in the screen game. Atlanta- but they’re Supposedly looking to move up to the top-10 for a defensive player. Baltimore- but I expect them to get Jackson some targets and then also get some reinforcements in the trenches. Yanda’a retirement need to be addressed. Kansas City- But with how explosive their offense already is I’d expect them to try to help either in the trenches on offense or somewhere on the defense first. Detroit- Definitely a possibility in round 2. But they have plenty of needs besides a running back so who knows. Pittsburgh- Connor had a down year. Snell and Samuel aren’t bad but aren’t starters. With no 1st I don’t see the Steelers going for a back early. Los Angeles Rams- This team will definitely need a new lead back. Idk if they’ll go after it in round 2, but if they are, we have the ability to jump a few spots ahead of them without much trouble. All in all they may be some of the most purely talented players in this draft, but I do believe running backs will be slow to move off the board and we could see one of Dobbins Taylor or Edwards-Helaire when we pick at 54.
  17. I wonder if they see that becoming more of Singletary’s role going forward. Then you would use Taylor (or a guy like him) in a role like Gore (short yardage etc). I could also see them using Yeldon more as a pass catcher out of the backfield as well. New England always seemed to have 3 backs who were very different and they didn’t worry about “giving away” anything in terms of the play calling. And Daboll definitely has a lot of the Patriot mentality in his offensive scheming.
  18. Agreed. And I’m paraphrasing but even before the Coronavirus hit in the States, I heard Beane on WGR, and he basically said that this class is super deep and that you’ll be able to find guys deep into day 3 that will take jobs from NFL vets. I think they draft at least one more guy. I doubt they’d do it at 54, unless somehow a guy like Jeudy fell that far (which obviously is not happening). But at some point they’ll get one. With New England in the decline, we need to look at our contemporary competition, Kansas City & Baltimore. We need an offensive array that can keep up with those teams.
  19. I still like Jonathan Taylor a lot for our team and scheme and how he compliments Singletary, but Evans could be a solid pick later on.
  20. Bills Don’t draft an edge rusher. 1) I think they value interior pass rush more than edge rush (quicker and more direct path to the QB) 2) their edge guys work a little different than most (set the edge as opposed to going for broke after the QB) 3. I think they like Their guys better than we do.
  21. Cooks and Fuller seem to have Injury Bug. I personally would’ve taken one of Reagor/Hamler whoever was available at 57 when my pick came around. But I do see the value in getting a veteran as opposed to a rookie when there might not be an off-season.
  22. I believe you’re both right to a point. They’ve built parts of the roster through free agency. Their roster was so bad they needed to. But most of the guys they’ve signed through free agency have been starters, but not “core” players. The only one I would argue they’ve really done that with was the Morse signing. But most of the guys they’ve added arrived as either quality backups to slightly above average level starters. As for the draft, I believe they look for 2 key things. Days 1 & 2 they look for guys who will be “Core” players at prime positions for their team. 2017: Cornerback is arguably the 2nd or 3rd most valuable position in the game. Enter Tre White. Left Tackle, 2nd round Dion Dawkins. 2018: Franchise QB, and while MLB might not be seen as an elite position league wide, I think they value having a guy they believe is their QB on defense in Edmunds. 2019: Round 1, penetrating interior defensive lineman, a position that seems to have ever increasingly value around the league. Round 2, many will argue where he should play, but they drafted what they believe is another offensive tackle. 2020 1st Round pick = Elite playmaking receiver. After those picks for core players at key positions in rounds 1 & 2, they filled in the rest of the roster at more supplemental positions of need to add depth where they could depending on the talent that fell to, or near those picks. There’s also the math of the matter as well... Typically around the league, if you’re getting 3 starters out of each draft class, you’re doing well. So if you do that well every year, it’d take about 8years if good drafting to fill a team with a majority of drafted players, and that would include re-signing all of them as well. At the end I would say they’ve used free agency to add depth throughout the roster, in particular Offensive and Defensive lines, Wide Receiver, tight end, safety of course. But at the end of the day they’ve used the draft to add the core pieces to each level of their team. On offense, Allen, Dawkins/Ford, and if you consider Diggs the use of their first round pick, I believe they view him as a core piece moving forward. On defense they have a 1st round pick, who is a core piece at each level in Oliver, Edmunds and then Tre White. I believe their plan is to make sure they get those positions filled, re-signed so they have long term leaders, both in the field and off, and then fill a lot of spaces with more depth free agents and draft picks as the years continue and the cap situation gets tighter.
  23. I haven’t seen much, but Milano played safety in college so my question would be if Chinn or Dugger could be drafted as a Milano replacement?
  24. I agree with this. I don’t see Dugger for the fact that he’s older and he’s a project. Also, Beane’s motto this off-season has been to get “touchdown makers”. I see them grabbing a RB an another WR on this class. Also I wonder if they could be looking for a Milano replacement if they’re unable to re-sign him.
  25. I see the need to draft another RB for sure, and earlier than later if they don’t add someone like Carlos Hyde or Lamar Miller. I also see the need to draft WR, but with such a deep class and a top-4 of Diggs (do it all #1), Brown (slotted into perfect outside #2 role) Beasley (great spot #3 option) and McKenzie (solid Gadget player). Adding a guy in the 4th or 5th round who can turn McKenzie into an afterthought and put one of Foster/Williams on the chopping block is a pretty realistic possibility. I don’t think they need to use 54 or 86 to do that. 128, or a slight move up from there should net them a solid WR in this years class. I agree on corner to an extent, but it looks like they’re bringing in the veterans to challenge Wallace. Norman & Gaines are veteran players who have probably lost a step but will be put in a position where they don’t need to be the greatest athletes. And don’t forget, this defense was top-5 in the league and Wallace played about 70% of the snaps. Not saying he’s great, because he has his warts, but I believe they’ll add someone deeper as well. Looking at edge I just don’t really see the room to add an early pick. They’ve got Hughes and Addison as starters. Murphy, Jefferson (hell play all over the defensive front I believe), plus Daryl Johnson, who we might not be very high on but got snaps on defense along with playing all 4-phases of special teams. He’s an athlete who they might think just need proper development. I see the need for it long term, but I believe they’ll wait a year to address it in the draft. I don’t see a huge need at safety, but they do usually keep 5. Jaquan Johnson is interesting but might be only depth. Marlowe is a great team guy and all, but is also just depth. Dugger/Chinn would immediately allow for some different schemes out of the back of the defensive formation, in particular DB blitzes. Also our LB depth is pretty slim. Behind Milano/Edmunds/Klein we have Corey Thompson, who I wouldn’t want to see start. Matakevich, who’s a special teamer, and Vosean Joseph, who was on IR all of last season after being injured in pre-season. I think a backup RB is our #1 need. Depth at Linebacker, Corner, Safety and Edge is all after that in whichever order you prefer. I think it also comes down to the talent at each level, I wouldn’t imagine we’ll be near guys like Epenesa or Gross-Matos, and I just don’t really like many of the edge players after that.
