  1. I haven’t seen this yet but I’ve heard the “God’s children are not for sale” quote…I mean apparently they are since God certainly hasn’t done anything to stop them from being sold for centuries now. It’s that type of cringe that’s probably as eye-rolling to many of us that “Smash the Patriarchy!” from Barbie is to more Conservative people. I’ll probably give it a chance myself at some point but it seems to me at first glance that it might be overblown that this movie is completely apolitical with no religious agenda that is being unfairly portrayed as such.
  2. It’s completely irrelevant to how well you can do in the job as President though. It also undermines all of his “sticking to the facts we have” schtick…none of which confirm God is real or good.
  3. The “God is real” thing being #1 on his list did it for me. How does that have anything at all to do with the job as President? It’s just pure pandering.
  4. I honestly don't watch a lot of movies anymore but I still really appreciate the good ones when I do catch one. I think it's real that a lot of people don't watch as many movies anymore...but I don't think it's a "woke" thing as much as people in this thread seem to think so. I hope it resolves itself simply for the really good movies that do make it. Like this Oppenheimer one looks amazing to me, I'll probably get out to the theater for it. Really interesting guy and story and I do generally like Christopher Nolan. I don't really buy this whole "they don't make 'em like they used to!" narrative that's attached to all this. There's always been a lot of trash to go along with the good. There's just so many content options outside of movies now that people aren't going to watch something they're not really intrigued by nearly as much. Like how TV sitcoms cratered...because there's better options on the table now. But yes, like the writer's strike many years ago...I don't know that this will ultimately be a good thing...but I think we were headed down this road regardless. It may change to where it's harder to get a movie green-lit but I do think there's always going to be a demand and crave for good movies that there will be a market for.
  5. What's their complaint about Barbie? It's not even out yet.
  6. I honestly just don’t understand it. On one hand they say the government and politicians should never be trusted, which I agree with…but then they turn around and make a politician their God.
  7. The problem with the first tweet is it IS absolutely mathematically possible to win the election with 16% of counties because of the massive variance in populations in our counties. There's counties with literally millions of people and counties with less than 100 people. I have no trust in the government, I wouldn't be surprised at all in the least bit if something came out about either side rigging an election. But you posting that is low intel, brother. That statement literally means nothing.
  8. I think they’ll figure it out too. The woke thing gets thrown around so incessantly. I’m not an Avatar fan, the visuals are amazing but it’s super long and the plot makes no sense…but people were calling it “woke” even though there’s literally like a monologue at the end where the main dude is telling his son what it means to be a man and a protector. Are there actual woke-ish things out there? Sure, but it’s being picked apart to the point to the point of petty insanity. Not everything has chosen a political side.
  9. I'm out on his No 1...what does him thinking that have to do with politics or becoming President?
  10. I like the one dude trying to hit people with his glasses
  11. Sure...but doesn't that have the same exact effect? The claiming movies or celebrities thing is so strange to me. Like I've seen both sides try to claim Bill Burr for example. I think he's probably just a dude that agrees and disagrees with things on both sides and makes fun of both sides if you pay attention to him. Like he completely slams cancel culture and extreme feminists but is also a believer in social programs. Not everything is political, I think you would probably agree with that, but these groups that in my opinion that are so obsessed with "winning" try to make it that way. I haven't done any kind of deep dive into this movie so I have no idea if it's actually political...but if you just looked at headlines from both sides you would totally think it is.
  12. There's some hypocrisy here though because in many ways it IS being marketed as a Conservative movie by Conservative media. If you go to a place like Youtube, look how many of the titles from popular Conservative influencers say things like "this is the movie the Left doesn't want you to see!" or "Libs freaking out at success of Sound of Freedom!" I myself honestly thought it was some kind of political movie for a while because of that narrative because I don't actually watch those videos, like most people on the other side they just scroll past those kinds of click-bait headlines. But doesn't that help create that same echo chamber that you're claiming the Liberal media is doing? I think there's fault on both sides for that kind of thing. Like why would a person who is a liberal or even independent want to see a movie that they have an impression is Conservative perspective-based? I haven't seen it so I'm not going to say one way or another, but I initially also wasn't interested because I heard the movie was "faith-based". I'm not even sure if that's true anymore or if that's one of these labels that both sides are contributing to giving it. I grew up around Christian movies and that stuff is just not my cup of tea because they tend to not actually address the tough questions that come with religion.
  13. So this is a "people aren't having enough babies" thing? I don't know what the solution to that is. I don't think it's only money, I think less people in general want to have kids now than they used to as well. Increase in divorce rates also have something to do with it, and there are a lot of factors that play into that. As it stands right now, I'm probably included in that group (not in the divorce one, just thinking right now that I don't want to have kids).
  14. Yes, if you drink Coors Light and eat KitKats and listen to ABBA, I am judging you. It’s just facts that those Big Beers and candies like KitKats are very chemically processed. What’s also funny is you’re making a point against yourself when you’re talking about who is making these beers, as if normal everyday people creating local microbrews is somehow worse than large conglomerate businesses who mass-produce them. Many , obviously not all, of those contain much better ingredients and are more flavorful and are made by people who love beer. You’re free to enjoy your pisswater and fillers with 10% chocolate candy as you have and I’m free to judge you for it as I have, the same way I would if someone willingly chose Oscar Meyer dogs over Sahlens or Zweigles. Salud!
  15. That's what I find funny about the whole Bud Light thing. All it showed is that these Conservative boycotters have horrible taste in beer and were still drinking it this whole time even with so many great craft brews available everywhere now.
  16. If you’re being honest…it’s also bad news for the many Christians and Catholics who preach against birth control in any form. I don’t say this often…but good for the Republicans that actually put that aside and pushed for this if that’s true.
  17. I’m saying this without knowing the potential side effects of these pills…but if they aren’t anything substantial I would say this is probably something that liberals and conservatives can agree on.
  18. I don't understand the exercise one...aren't all the most obese states the Red conservative states?
  19. Oh there's no question that I'm anti-religion. I'm pretty sure I've been incredibly transparent about that. Literally to the point of flat-out saying it. But I don't hold that against people who choose to be religious. There are no rights I'm trying to restrict from people that are religious simply because they don't agree with me or because we don't align on our beliefs. In fact, as I said I agree that a Christian Conservative web designer should not have to take on a project for a gay wedding or that a Christian Conservative baker should not have to bake a cake for a gay wedding. But as I said, I also think it's hypocritical that these same exact people expect to be served by companies that don't align with their beliefs, such as private social media platforms. Or that they believe certain books should be removed from school libraries (which I agree with) but that the Bible shouldn't. Or that they rail against books that don't have sexuality but explain how a boy can transition to a girl or a girl can transition to a boy because it's not rooted in facts...yet they want to keep a book that tells you that a woman had an IMMACULATE CONCEPTION! I mean come on dude, are you really going to say you don't see these hypocrisies at all?
  20. I'll throw in a couple more I found that I believe in: “Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls. They got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying. Lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want. They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests. That’s right.” “Political correctness is America’s newest form of intolerance, and it is especially pernicious because it comes disguised as tolerance. It presents itself as fairness, yet attempts to restrict and control people’s language with strict codes and rigid rules. I’m not sure that’s the way to fight discrimination. I’m not sure silencing people or forcing them to alter their speech is the best method for solving problems that go much deeper than speech.”
  21. He sure did! I agree with the one you posted, and I'll join in with more. “Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're *****.” ― George Carlin “Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money!” ― George Carlin
  22. I still have to do more of a deep dive on him, but some of these reasons are why I’m kind of intrigued by RFK. He’s probably the most centrist candidate I’ve seen and he doesn’t really get deep into the culture war stuff. He has his views on certain topics pertaining to all that stuff but in the interviews I’ve seen, he touches on it and what he would do but then steers the conversation to bigger issues, such as some of what you brought up.
  23. I don't think we really disagree on any of this though. There have also been a lot of religious-based charities and churches that have been corrupt with money. I don't think this comes from one side. That's part of what I meant when I was talking about over-consumption. I mean take a look at this board, literally every topic is about attacking the other side. It's probably trite to say, but that's what "they" want. I have nothing against looking into and exposing specific corruption, I think that's a productive thing. I do believe that the whole "woke" obsession and culture war, which was what I was originally referencing here, largely isn't.
  24. Of course I don't understand that life of a teen in a place like the Congo or slaves anywhere or Muslims/Christians in China. But you do know varying levels of this has been happening throughout our entire human existence right? Things overall globally have NEVER been amazing, not even close. I don't think anyone here said that, you conflated that with us saying that things are about as good as they've ever been. Those are totally different statements. I'm open to hearing when a better, safer time overall in the entire world was, it's probably not provable on a more intimate scale. The mantras we hear now about living your best life or simply enjoying life or that God has an amazing plan for your life are really just from the last copule hundred years or so and that's only in the most developed countries. In most of the world's existence the goal was just purely survival. In my opinion I think all of this supports my original point on this that I don't see how "Woke" is a high priority and that the current culture war on both sides is largely driven by people who don't have real problems. I agree. I'm in the camp of believing these same people exist on both extreme sides. They don't see how much they're actually alike and how hypocritical they both are.
  25. I "went along" with it as a courtesy to people that were afraid and to respect certain businesses after the mandates that were still requesting masks, absolutely. You can see that as me being some kind of patsy for the Government, but I didn't do it for them. I was still out there playing sports with my friends with no masks that didn't care about that and hanging out with people who both cared about that and didn't. If they did, I wore a mask. Either way I didn't impose my personal beliefs at the time on anyone else. Yes, gay marriage was finally legalized. But what do you think was behind the resistance? Just because that side lost doesn't change what their philosophy was. Their philosophy was to restrict somebody else's personal freedoms because of their own religious and personal beliefs. There are many Gay religious people as well and they were restricted of their own religious liberties to get married. I don't think a Christian Conservative web designer should have to take on a project for a gay wedding...but then why do they themselves expect to be served by everyone else regardless of their beliefs including social media platforms? We've talked about this before and I'm pretty sure you know the answer...no I'm not cool with talking to kids about sex or pornographic books in school libraries. I'm also not cool with indoctrinating kids with unsubstantiated ideologies that include some parts of transgenderism and Christianity. Do you believe the Bible should also be banned from every school? Maybe you do, I'm not asking that in an accusatory way. Do you think that's an appropriate book for a child? I think you would at least agree that the high majority of people who want some of these other books banned do not want the Bible banned. My problem is again, you only see any of this from one side and on one hand you want the entire LGBTQ population to be accountable for their extremists but not religious/conservative people for theirs. They are 100% doing the same thing. Proselytizing is indoctrination wrapped up in a different package and there are no ages where they aren't coming after people from. But I don't hold that against the entire Christian community and don't want to restrict their rights because of it. In the same way you think I've been somehow brainwashed by the government, even though I constantly rail against them, I believe you've been taken in by Conservative media to the point where you don't see that these two extreme sides are largely the same and I think that's where we're at.
