The War on Whiteness
HomeskillitMoorman replied to Rob's House's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This is an interesting victimhood thread comprised of a lot of people who probably go around saying you shouldn't have a victimhood mentality. -
That's actually EXACTLY what I'm saying! Trump wanted the same exact thing to happen to his competitors that is happening to him right now. The only difference is the other side leveraged more power to get it done against him. So the difference is an imbalance of power, the levels of insidious corruption are the exact same, one just wasn't able to execute on it.

So you're basically validating what I'm saying...Trump wanted the same exact thing that's happening to him right now to happen to his competitors from the other side in the past...the outrage from Republicans is only there because it "worked" in terms of the indictment (I don't think anything's really going to come out of it). But in principle, it's what Trump was calling for to happen to his competitors in the past. I'm not saying I side with anyone because I don't side with any political party, I'm saying it's hypocritical that people are making Trump out to be some kind of martyr when he would've laughed if the same thing happened to Hillary or Biden, as would probably every Republican. It's selective outrage, it's the same exact thing conservatives complain about from the radical side of the Left. It's literally no different. What you're arguing much more is an imbalance of power than actual intent or level of corruption. Trump DID want for his competitors to get indicted just the way he did now, the only difference is he didn't have the connections to make it happen. The level of corruption is the same, you're basically giving him credit because his corruption didn't happen to manifest into the same results. From purely a morality standpoint, if the Bills tried to record the practices of other teams but couldn't get their hands on the right technology to do it, would that make them more virtuous than the Patriots who were able to accomplish it? The Republican party is no better than the Democrat party, that's the part where you're still heavily brainwashed. They're all the same.
-
Lot of hypocrisy here. Trump has literally wanted other former Presidents or candidates to get indicted for very similar things in the past. Why is that somehow different? I think all of these politicians on both sides are shady that have done all of these things and think they should all be thrown in jail. Then we might actually get somewhere. Acting like one party is virtuous and honest is beyond absurd.

Which way do you lean politically?

Isn't it problematic though that you're already tuning out everyone else and voting for one side automatically? I think that's part of the dysfunction of politics. I try to pick the best person regardless of party affiliation. When I lived in New Hampshire I voted for Chris Sununu even though he's Republican because he's closer to the Center and has done positive work. Those people are few and far between, I wouldn't disagree with that, but they are out there. -

I'm Independent but my beliefs lean more liberal. I don't believe the Democrat Party reflects classical liberal values. I also don't believe the Republican Party reflects actual classical conservative values. I'm honestly weary of anyone who pledges some kind of allegiance to either party. Both are incredibly corrupt and do not care about the people. -

I haven't really seen that pattern with sports because the POTUS usually go to sporting events in cities that are more favorable to them. Trump got booed pretty heavily at a Washington Nationals World Series game if I remember correctly and Obama would get ovations to the more liberal cities he'd go to. I don't think sports fans in general lean one way, it really just depends on the region it's in. -
I'm looking for consistency. For the drag shows that are "X-rated", I agree parents should not take their kids to those shows. But a lot of those people are the same exact people that support indoctrinating their kids into religious with harmful messages such as Christianity's about Hell and what certain supposed sins are with absolutely no evidence whatsoever. I can take it a lot more seriously if you're against indoctrination of that kind as well and let children be educated and think for themselves instead of grooming them to fit one destructive model and have those people rail against other people grooming children to fit theirs.

It's the height of hypocrisy when they talk about power over freedom from the Left...when they literally want for something to not exist because THEY don't like it. It's just like gay marriage, it doesn't effect heterosexual Christian marriages in the slightest. Nobody is forced to be gay, no church is forced to host gay weddings, nobody is forced to attend a gay wedding. But they fought it for as long as they did and many still do because they want to impose their beliefs on other people. If on Sunday morning you want to go to a religious gathering where people take delight that their loved ones might spend eternity in Hell and praise the being who would send them there, you are more than welcome to it. If you want to go to a drag brunch, you should be more than welcome to do that too.

Your Bills-related unpopular opinion

I think so, although I don’t think we’ll even get 1 with McD here. Have to hope he steps down at some point. -
That's a more practical take, I would agree long as you're also saying that it's wrong for kids to be told at these young ages that homosexuality/trans people are wrong for what they do even if they're not overreaching and should rot in Hell for eternity for being different than them. Consistency is what I'm usually after.
-
I don't have gender dysphoria so I don't pretend to know what that feels like, but I believe it's real. That doesn't mean I believe kids should transition while they're kids or take some of these drugs or surgeries that we don't know all the side effects or long-term effects of yet. For me though, I think there's a compromise that could exist if both sides don't overreach. For people that are Trans or have gender dysphoria, the idealogy doesn't need to be pushed onto others as long as their rights aren't infringed upon, and the other side doesn't need to tell those people what they should or shouldn't do. Actually accomplishing that is another story.
-
Lot of Christian victim cards being pulled out here. Also, why is it that it's perfectly acceptable to indoctrinate your children into religion including those that teach that people that think and believe different than you will suffer in Hell for eternity? And that it's righteous for that to happen and for you to turn a cold shoulder to even the ones you love including family and friends if it happens to them? But it's wrong to indoctrinate your kids in to believing other ideologies such as sexual or gender? Personally I don't think we should be indoctrinating kids into either or any of that stuff, but I struggle to understand how people who believe one is fine and the other isn't at all hypocritical?

That we will never win a Superbowl with McD as HC and will end up looking back on what could have been with #17. Hopefully we can still win one if we can McD someday. -
Yeah they were pretty arrogant about it that year. They took it more seriously in 2020 and won and I think they think that's their best shot this time around. I don't necessarily disagree from a purely strategic standpoint given that they don't have anyone else besides Biden in their minds, but that's from their warped mindset about having an establishment-happy president.
-
Well my thought is that it's really hard to ultimately convict rich and powerful people and I don't really think they'll have enough to get there to make it a successful case. I think they know that and they don't care. They don't have anyone to run in this cycle against a popular non-Trump contender. There are a couple of liberal politicians I like but they're not pro-establishment which means they won't get the backing they need to be a real contender. But yes I do think this will help Trump beat DeSantis in the primary. I think he needed it to be honest.
-
My ultimate feeling on this is that the Democrat Party wants Trump to win the GOP Primary because they believe they have a better shot at beating him again than they do DeSantis. The reason being they basically ran the last campaign on voting against Trump rather than anything for Biden, and it worked. Most people who don't really follow politics, and there are a lot of them, don't really even know who DeSantis is so that hate doesn't exist for him and Biden would probably get worked over in debates. I don't think they would be able to rally people to vote the way they did in the last election without that villain, even though DeSantis is actually more far right than Trump is and would probably be worse for them. For an Independent like myself, another Biden vs Trump scenario is pretty much lose-lose again, but I think that's what the Democrats have set up here. The strategy I think is actually kind of sound because there's a good chance Republicans decide to rally around Trump over this when things were starting to shift to DeSantis. On the other side, I actually do believe Trump wanted this as well. He needed something to stop the DeSantis momentum and this will probably do it.

I don't think so. What liberals even come to Biden or Hillary's defense now? There may be a small faction, I don't think most do. It also depends on what exactly you mean by the "left". I believe most people on both sides are moderate with extremes on both sides that weaponize each other. I don't think most liberal citizens would go apeshit. If you're talking about the politicians and establishment on the left, sure.
