  1. I was with you on your other post but this one is back to the same old nonsense. I won't even count the first 2 playoff losses here, although I do think he did a couple of stupid things vs the Texans. But fine, whatever, it was early on. AFCCG his D got lit up and he went ultra conservative with his punts and FG on 4th and shorts in favorable positions while his D was getting blown away. Not a valid excuse for him personally. Not saying the players are exempt from accountability, but this is a post about evaluating McD and he was horrible in that game himself. And if you remember the Colts game, we needed a superhero effort from Josh because McD's defense had a ton of trouble against Rivers and Reich/Sirianni's scheme and we also got a couple of gift decisions from our guy Frank. We all know 13 seconds. Completely, 100% on him. And even earlier in that game in the 1st half we went pretty conservative against a KC secondary that had injuries. He again had trouble breaking out of his in-born conservatism. Last year his D still got smoked. Josh's worst postseason game for sure, would've been tough to win regardless. But again, this is an evaluation of him, and his side of the team and his D dropped the ball once again. And we almost lost to Skylar Thompson before that. Last night - D was awful once again. Terrible call and design on the fake punt and everyone knew it was coming when we could see the confusion and where Damar was pretty much gave it away...and he still pulled the trigger on it. If we're gonna go for it right there, just give it to Josh or you have to have something much better in place. These are not valid excuses. On a sole evaluation of him, he has been incredibly awful in the postseason. He doesn't put in the work to improve himself. I know you're saying you want him gone and I agree...but this is still going way too soft on a guy that has nothing to offer or bring to the table and has buried us. Yup. Allen was great and had to leave his heart out there. Mahomes was solid and that was enough. And that's always going to be the case with McD here.
  2. Not more than I'd like a paddle to teach you that Participation Trophies don't mean anything
  3. Yup, we're throwing it away on a coach who is completely in over his head in these big games and moments. This is worse than Babers to be honest. Babers never had championship talent or close to it. That's not necessarily defending Babers, he had trouble recruiting at SU and it is a tough place to recruit football but obviously there was better out there. But McDermott's failures have been with what most coaches salivate over having, especially obviously at QB. He has not improved at all as an in-game coach, his D gets lit up in every big game and moment, and he still panics late in games and even at times at the end of halves. 3 Divisional Round exits in a row, especially when in 2 of those games he got an all-world performance from his QB, is a massive failure. It's possible...but Fran's already recruiting better than Babers did. And what did we have to lose by firing Babers? That's probably what I don't understand the most about this. What are people afraid of losing with McD? I literally can't think of anything.
  4. It was the epitome of McD. Unprepared, poor design.
  5. Yup. McD is trash at Home or on the Road. We can't hide from him.
  6. Yeah the teams we've actually beaten in the playoffs have not been very good ones, except I guess the Ravens in 2020. And even that year McD's D got lit up by the Colts and it took a superhero effort from Josh and a couple of coaching gaffes from our good friend Frankie on their side for us to survive that game. McD is an incredibly horrendous postseason coach. He is completely outclassed by good coaches and top QB's.
  7. Yeah I just don't understand the comparison at all. Reid showed his chops and what his strengths were even during his playoff struggles. Yeah he was a terrible in-game manager...he's probably now not even that good of one...but he was obviously a talented coach on his side of the ball. McD's side of the ball has absolutely destroyed us in these big games. I mean we're losing games where Josh is playing lights out and McD's D just can't get stops. Even when we were relatively healthy we gave up 38 and 42 to KC in the other two games. I don't understand what people feel that McD's strengths are. We can't even mitigate damage, let alone bottle up top QB's in the playoffs and he's not a good in-game manager. I honestly don't see what people are so afraid to lose here. What about last year's playoff game when we got blown out? Or the 2 years before that when his D gave up 38 and 42 to KC? These 3 games vs KC would all be blowouts if not for top echelon performances by Josh that unfortunately are completely wasted. McD's side of the ball gets destroyed in these games every single time. And obviously McD DIRECTLY blow the 13 seconds game himself. We literally had this coach cost us a season. Why do the McD apologists here not ever have him accountable for any of that?
  8. It's not something to shoot for though. Clearly this isn't working with McD here. There are a lot of examples of great players in every sport who needed a new coach to get over the hump. And there's quite a few of those guys I would not put on Allen's level. The worst part is, Allen has played fantastic in 2 out of those 3 losses to the Chiefs and we've come up empty because of our coach. It's not like he's had 4 pick games in those moments.
  9. I don't like or respect McD at all...but I appreciate that even if you do, you can see reality.
  10. Surefire of what? Being "able" to get to the Divisional Round with an elite QB?
  11. I'm rooting for the Ravens. I want for other QB's to get there and get past Mahomes so maybe Terry can see that the problem here is McD and that other teams are able to get over this hump.
  12. For the most part that's true. But they can also mitigate damage. Or at the very least put a team away with 13 seconds left. McD can't even do that.
  13. You're basically giving credit to the team for blowing early games to bad teams. And lets dive into McDermott facts, shall we? What happened in the other 2 playoff games vs KC when we were relatively healthy and gave up 38 points and 42 points. That's including that time when he completely botched the end of the game with 13 seconds. How about when we were getting gashed last year as well? Or almost lost to Skylar Thompson? Or when old man Phillip Rivers came into Buffalo with the Colts and they were able to do pretty much whatever they wanted and we needed an elite performance from Josh just to squeak by? McD's defense ALWAYS gets lit up in these big games. This wasn't some kind of anomaly because of injuries.
  14. Yup, look at Kyle Shanahan getting to a SB with Jimmy G and now one of Purdy or Goff will be in the SB. Even Sirianni made the SB and it was close. Our clown of a HC can't get past the divisional round with an elite QB.
  15. Yes. But I disagree, McD is not a good coach. He has an elite QB who overall has played great in the playoffs and has his side of the ball get lit up in every big game and moment, and is a horrendous game manager.
  16. What I'm saying is you're trying to excuse McD because of the injuries, but his D's have gotten lit up by KC in the playoffs even when they have been relatively healthy. I think someone said that in the last 4 postseasons in these games in which we've been eliminated, we've forced a total 7 punts? That's astonishingly awful. That's his side of the ball that he has poured many resources into. It would be hard to find a coach that's consistently worse than him on his side of the ball when it matters most. I can't think of any.
  17. You basically want to give McDermott his flowers for making the playoffs. That was nice for when we sneaked in with Tyrod...in that season where McD played for the tie and admitted he had no idea a tie wouldn't help us, showing again his completely lack of preparation that he has always had and still does today...but that is not the same standard for when he has an elite QB. What about the fact that McD's side of the ball, with the incredible amount of resources he's had, gets lit up in EVERY big game in the playoffs? You're acting like this year was an anomaly because of the injuries...it's not. They were terrible last year, and the other two games against KC when the D was relatively healthy we gave up 42 and 38. That's not even mentioning 13 seconds in which he LITERALLY cost us the season. McDermott is 5-6 in the playoffs, 5-5 with Josh, 0-3 vs the Chiefs, 1-5 against the top QB's we've faced in Lamar, Deshaun, Mahomes, Burrow, and his defenses have given it up big in every single big moment and game. And that record is with Josh having played for the most part great in the playoffs. Just think about that, you have an elite QB that's played very well in the playoffs and he's 5-5...because a defensive coach gets his face rammed in every single January, especially by his daddy Andy. Just a simple question...how do you look at all of this and say "I want more of that!"
  18. What about when the defense was much healthier 2 years ago and McD's D gave up 42 to the Chiefs? The year before that when they gave up 38? And lets be honest, the Chiefs put the brakes on in that game because it was over. They could've put up 50 that night.
  19. To say this team with an elite QB who played lights out in the playoffs accomplished something with a Divisional Round exit is a loser mentality. But unfortunately with the McD apologists...this is the standard. Other teams with elite QB's are targeting SB's. We are targeting playoff appearances.
  20. I think so too about offense...but we know the script if McD's still here. The offense will once again have to be perfect for multiple postseason games to win in spite of McD's defense getting lit up, which we KNOW will happen in big games and his in-game managing. It's a bad recipe and probably not possible.
  21. What big games have we won? Definitely not a "lot". We have been on the losing end far more in big games with McD here. How can he even be remotely compared to Andy Reid? The "playoff struggles" you're talking about with Reid in Philly were with McNabb who was not as good as Josh and those "struggles" entailed 4 straight NFC championship game appearances and a SB appearance. I won't even count the Tyrod year or Josh's second season against McD here...lets just look at his last 4 seasons - 1 AFC championship game and 3 straight Divisional Round exits. This is nowhere near comparable. He absolutely does not deserve to continue. He has had the majority of resources on his side of the ball that gets lit up in every big game. Literally every single one. His QB is playing lights out in some of these games that we are on the losing end of because of McD, one with 13 seconds that you can literally chalk up directly to him. He has not improved at all as an in-game coach for over 7 years. He's not good on his side of the ball and he's not a good in-game manager and he takes most of the resources for his side of the ball. There are MANY coaches that could do better with what we've had than him. We will never win big with McD here because he is one of the worst coaches in this league that has been bailed out time and time and time again. But you can only go so far with that, as we've seen.
  22. There is absolutely nothing to back up what you're saying about McD though. We got blown out in 2020 and last year. And look at the amount of points his defense is allowing in these "close" losses you're talking about. 38 to the Chiefs the first time, 42 the second time, 27 yesterday in a year where they've been at their worst. The Bengals basically put the brakes on after they skewered us last year or that would be higher too. We also had a lot of trouble with the Colts in 2020 and we almost blew a game to Skylar Thompson last year. I have no idea what you're talking about when you say we're always prepared and motivated and that he gameplans well. Where is the evidence for this? We've been an unmitigated disaster in the playoffs on his side of the ball and with is in-game coaching. Especially this "preparation" part. McD is incredibly unprepared for big moments in the game. You got none of that from 13 seconds? Or not going for it on multiple 4th and 1's in 2020 when we couldn't stop KC at all? Or running an extremely poor designed punt fake last night? That's only the tip of the iceburg with this guy, and you know that. He has put in absolutely no work into improving himself as an in-game coach for over 7 years now. There literally isn't a strength that he has as a coach. Literally zero redeemable qualities. He's bailed out by having an elite QB that has had to do more with less because McD's side of the ball gets lit up in every single big game. This whole thing about him being a good coach is a totally false narrative that nobody really has any basis for.
  23. Yup, but it's even worse. The best individual players in baseball don't have the kind of impact that the best players in the NFL do, especially at QB. Trout only comes up to bat 3-4 times and will probably get walked in at least one of those at the end of games. We have a guy that plays great in these games (for the most part) and the coach on his side of the ball NEVER comes through even after hogging so many resources for his group. It's actually hard to have this level of failure in the playoffs considering what Josh has done, but McD has achieved it.
  24. I don't get this either. How is he not a bad coach? He has an elite QB that has played great in the playoffs outside of really 1 terrible game last year and still can't win even with the incredible amount of resources he's been given on his side of the ball that is a sieve every time we play a top QB in the playoffs. We've taken 3 Divisonal Round exists in a row, he single-handedly choked away the 13 seconds game. He hasn't learned anything in 7 years as a coach, he makes many of the same exact mistakes. He has trouble evaluating coaches that will make good coordinators. He has no clue what to do at the end of games after all this time. I honestly don't get it how people see him as a good coach. His side of the ball can't stop anyone in big games and he's a horrible in-game manager. There is nothing special about just making the playoffs with an elite QB. Most coaches could easily do that and many would have done more with 17 here. I'm really struggling here to see where people get this notion that he's a good coach.
  25. This is so delusional. The guy is 5-6 in the playoffs with 3 straight Divisional Round exits, can't beat elite QB's in the playoffs, is 0-3 vs the Chiefs in the playoffs while directly contributing to a complete chokejob that cost us one of those games himself...and you guys want more of this? It even goes beyond that with how many resources have been poured into his defense that gives it up in every big game and moment. How do you look at all this and say "I want more of that!"
