  1. Contract, on its face, is big $$$ Really good player. Never plays a full season. Risky signing, but it makes a ton of sense for the Dolphins.
  2. NGL, reading through Twitter.. did not expect Ryan Bates to be this hot of a commodity.
  3. I hate when media folks do this. Not just for Von, but they always emphasize the max value of massive contracts - and they, of all people - know what the real contract is.
  4. Yup...very noteworthy that I'd assume most of us look at the list of outgoing players (Trubisky as a back-up aside) and would agree with you. I know that I do.
  5. I don't disagree, but some of it is also a function of the positions we drafted. EDGE rushers typically take some time to develop, unless you're drafting a guy in the Top 10.
  6. I wonder if the Browns thought there would be a market for Baker when doing the Watson trade?... I'm sure they had an idea, but I want to think they thought they could get back a small piece of the draft capital they gave up (3rd Rounder perhaps) and are now looking at having to eat his cap hit by cutting him or sending another pick out to get rid of his contract.
  7. Curious how this offseason's roster turnover compares to other teams (in terms of sheer numbers) Seems like we've done a massive overhaul around the core guys. OUT: Harrison Phillips Star Lotululei Vernon Butler Jerry Hughes Mario Addison AJ Klein Levi Wallace Cole Beasley Emmanuel Sanders Jon Feliciano Darryl Williams Matt Breida Mitch Trubisky Davis Webb IN: Daquan Jones Tim Settle Jordan Phillips Von Miller Shaq Lawson Marquel Lee Roger Saffold Greg Mancz Duke Johnson OJ Howard Jamison Crowder Case Keenum Matt Barkley
  8. After Wildgoose and Anderson were poached, I hope they use those later picks (185, 203, 231) to move around the board in the middle rounds. We need inexpensive talent and can't be wasting picks on guys who will get cut or poached. As it stands, give me CB, WR, IOL in the first 3 rounds. Then with the remaining draft: OT, CB, RB, TE, LB, P are all options.
  9. You do if you’re not a ridiculous GM. Josh Allen is 25. He gives us a window of over a decade. Beane, now more than ever, needs rookie contract talent. Trading multiple high picks to move up in the first round is nonsensical. Why does he need inexpensive talent?.. Because he made the all-in move of signing Von Miller.
  10. I like the idea, but unless Bradberry shakes free and we somehow scoop him up, I’m starting to join the “concerned crowd” at outside corner. I doubt Ojabo falls to RD3, but if he does, it’s got to be a discussion. That being said, RD2 WR and RD3-5 multiple OL looks to be in order. Kromer is a great coach, but as of now we have two good OL (LT & C), a young RT, a very solid vet at LG and then Doyle/Ford and randos…
  11. Beane knows he needs to hit on his draft picks and stock the roster with inexpensive talent. Not sure what his approach will be, but I wouldn’t mind him trading back into RD2, and then using his 6 & 7 picks to trade up.. get as many picks in Rounds 2-5 as possible. Not sure I see him keeping those 2 6’s and a 7th.. those dudes are just getting cut or poached like Wildgoose & Anderson. However, If we don’t get a vet CB in FA, it would certainly seem like we’re on a collision course with corner at 25.
  12. Sounds like Beane is pretty much done, but I can’t imagine he doesn’t address corner at some point before the draft. I also don’t trust a word he says anymore about these types of things, and I’m definitely not saying that’s a bad thing!
  13. Decent signing. Gives us our receiving back if nothing materializes the way we want in the draft.
  14. We’ll see.. If either Williams or Ojabo are there at 25, the injury affected their draft stock.
  15. Like I said, im not opposed to drafting a RD1 CB. It would have to be RD1 also, otherwise there’s no point on taking one until the middle rounds as elite trait guys will be gone by 57. Im also not opposed to going all offense RD1,2,3. WR, RB, OG. Sign a cheap FA vet and then draft two corners in RD4-6. While we’re a team building to win a Super Bowl, getting the 1 seed in the AFC will be massive moving forward, so I get the fear of entering the season without any above average talent at outside-corner… I’m just saying I think we can get by until Tre comes back with the upgraded DL and defensive scheme. Just hope we don’t get LA & KC early in the season.
  16. The DL should absolutely help our corners. It’s not just Von Miller, it’s the 3 young guys all now working with Von and entering the years you expect them to start making a jump at their position. It’s also our revamped DT room, which now has 3 guys who have pass rush ability. We also have a top notch safety tandem to help stabilize the secondary and Tre White will be back, likely at some point around Weeks 5-8 (at the latest) I’m certainly not opposed to taking a McDuffie, Booth, Elam etc in RD1, and maybe that’s the smart thing to do, but we have a very friendly CB scheme on defense and now, what looks to be, a top end DL. Saying we’d need to score 40 with a defense that has Von Miller, Ed Oliver, a deep DL rotation, Edmunds, Milano, Johnson, Poyer and Hyde just doesn’t compute with me.. even without Tre early on.
  17. He hasn’t found “great talent”, so yea.. that’s not accurate, but we had solid starting play from a pairing of a recent late round draft pick and recent UDFA for almost half the season last year after Tre went down. If we can snag a cheap veteran FA corner at some point before the draft, I wouldn’t be opposed to Buffalo going all offense RD’s 1-3 (WR, RB, G). Then take a couple corners and another OL in RD’s 4-6. Not sure where Hall is projected, but he does seem to fit exactly what we’re looking for.
  18. Like the signing. Definitely needed a viable TE2. Tons of potential with Knox & Howard. Only dislike I have is that our hope is we unlock his potential… and then he leaves after a year because no way we’d be able to afford him.
  19. I wonder how this effects the Ravens/Lamar contract talks. Given what Watson is making, in-division, what is Lamar looking for…
  20. I don’t want to spend on Barkley, but if he’s willing to come back for a min deal as QB3, that’s a no-brainer given what he brings off the field and in the QB room.
  21. You just have to be smart about it. If the Bears were in win-now mode, they’d keep Mack & Robinson, thus the dead cap vs talent situation looking much different. They aren’t, and have opted for less spending and draft picks. Beane is incredibly responsible in his signings, the values and structuring. I’m not worried about him falling into this trap… especially given we have an entire future of Allen at QB. Look no further than his “chips in” move of Von Miller, also having an out after 3 years where we only take on minimal dead cap.
  22. Stafford and Burrow had two of the more underwhelming playoff runs for supposed “elite QBs”. The Stafford/Kupp drive was impressive, and I give him credit for gutting out a SB win with Higbee out and Beckham going down. 160M over 4 years puts him close to Allen/Mahomes territory, and that he is not.
  23. Isn’t there a minimum you have to spend? I can’t imagine it’s that low to where the Bears can stand pat…
  24. Whenever I see an NFL commercial and Allen is screaming on the sidelines to his teammates in that, now, iconic moment of his.. I’m still legitimately angry. It still does something visceral to me, knowing how he’s about to be let down.
