  1. Rams went for it and won. Good thing because we've seen what it looks like post 2022. Eagles have gone for it. Let's see if they take home the trophy. Looks rough for them moving forward with their pending FA's, but they've set themselves up to at least have a chance to not follow the Rams path.
  2. You're 100% correct. Chiefs/Spags recognize this. When it comes down to the Playoffs.. elite QB vs elite QB, which Defense can make a negative play. A sack, a turnover, a TFL... That's how you get elite offenses on the top of their game off the field. 1st and 10 becoming 2nd and 10 does not do that. Maybe a healthy Von changes the entire complexion of the Bills Defense next year.. and maybe that's even valid.. Take Chris Jones off the Chiefs and they aren't beating the Bengals to get to the Super Bowl. However, the Bills seem to be putting way too much money and draft capital into players that don't create negative plays. Milano is a great pass rushing LB. Edmunds, maybe he figures it out, but until then he's just a massive human being that runs into a gap whether it's open or not.
  3. I'm perfectly fine with Gabe Davis as WR3, and if we can pay him long term as such.. great. That said, you need to have two the following: Elite WR1 Elite WR2 Elite OL Bengals have an elite WR1, WR2 and a good OL before injuries hit and derailed their playoff run against Chris Jones/KC. KC has an elite WR1 (Kelce) and an elite OL. Bills have an elite WR1. Addison would be perfect, and no matter what we do in FA, he should be a guy we're willing to move up to get if he gets within range.
  4. I'd be shocked if the Bills didn't do something we're not expecting to get a legit WR2 in here before the draft. Beane went into the draft last year needing a CB, and had to panic trade to get Elam. It would seem to be malpractice to do that again at WR, given the fact we could very well be looking at their RD1 targets at WR all being gone by the time we draft and/or potentially gone before we even get to a place where we can entertain trade-ups. Maybe someone like Addison falls to the 20's and we can move up or sit tight, but I'm certainly not banking on that.
  5. I think most Bills fans understand exactly what we have on Defense. A good regular season defense that throttles bad to mid QB's, and can slow down elite QB's if we have healthy talent all over the field. When we have faced elite QB's in the playoffs, the defense plays like a bottom 10 unit... 4 years in a row. It's not a fluke.
  6. There is.. Bills just need to make tough decisions. Don't re-sign Edmunds. There's your Barkley money. Trade Oliver, frees up almost 11M. Cut Hines. Trade Tre White. Re-work contracts of a few guys outside Allen (Allen needs to be done regardless to free up money just to get under the cap). We can make big Offensive moves if we want... It just comes down to the FO's willingness to empty the cupboard Defensively. Which is unlikely, IMO.
  7. I really want to vote for “on track” but I couldn’t pull the trigger. Thus far: -Failed to build an OL for Josh -Failed to keep up in the arms race -Drafting has been mediocre -Defensive HC, which will result in constant Offensive shifts -Defensive HC, with a defense that fails in the playoffs Hard to find the optimism with where we stand currently. I would very much welcome them changing my opinion this off-season.
  8. Yup Burrow is going to be a 50M QB and Chase 30M Seems like Higgins is likely asking for 30M too, based off the reports .. can’t imagine they’d think mid-20’s is excessive for him
  9. Bengals owner better figure out how to gain access to cash… and fast. Burrow is one thing. They know what they need to do, otherwise lose the fanbase. Chase likely in the same boat given the draft pick to take him and Burrow connection. Higgins and the other pieces coming due are quite another.
  10. I would absolutely sign him to WR2 this off-season. Much rather a FA signing in OBJ than a trade for Hopkins. The next option is likely Jakobi Meyers, a clear WR2/3 to pair with Davis opposite Diggs. I have a feeling Beane won’t go into the Draft still needing to fill that WR role. We saw what happened last year with Chiefs jumping us for McDuffie then us trading up for Elam. I doubt he wants to be picking late RD1 having to hope we don’t have another bad luck WR run before we draft in RD1 or 2.
  11. Gross.. For some reason I thought he was Rd1. You're right. And therein lies the difference, in a nutshell, between the personnel on KC and on BUF. They get Bolton. 2 picks later we take a JAG DE.
  12. If we can sign an upgrade at Tackle in FA, it's a no-brainer (well, I say that knowing full well what we'll probably do). You sign the Tackle. We draft late in RD1, late in RD2.. etc. Legit starting Tackles out the gate aren't just there for the taking in the late 20's. We can get a LB to put next to Milano on Day 1 or Day 2. Chiefs drafted Nick Bolton late *RD2.
  13. Beane is 100%, for the first in his tenure here, worthy of some heavy criticism .. but, in fairness, Dak did not have a ton of weapons around him. I’d say they were quite similar to us.. WR1, above average TE, decent backs with an RB1 who always should’ve been supplanted by RB2, a mediocre OL and not much else.
  14. Depends. Every team carries some level of dead cap into a season. If you restructure guys who are in your long term plans, and they continue to play at a high level, it's not going to hurt you with the ever-increasing salary cap. Mess around with guys who's play falls off and/or you decide to cut, and then you're stuck with underperforming players with large cap hits and/or dead cap.
  15. Seems like 90% of the fanbase wants to trade Oliver. Which means I'm sure we won't do that. And normally I wouldn't question the GM, but lately it seems like this forum makes better Day 2 picks than our front office, so...
  16. Putting on my GM cap.. Trading Oliver, re-signing Phillips to a team friendly deal and drafting a space eating DT in the middle rounds to back up Jones seems the move to me.
  17. What are the chances anyone plays and doesn't get hurt? Von is a physical freak. I have no reason to believe he won't be a force next year, whenever he gets back on the field. That being said.. Our Defense is definitely going to be reliant upon guys coming back to full ability post-injury recovery (White, Von, Hyde). Not ideal, but it's the hand we're dealt.
  18. Game was over midway through the 3rd Q. Bengals could have scored alot more.
  19. If we want to actually give Allen a legitimate upgrade on Offense this year and make some kind of splash in Free Agency.. It seems like trading Ed Oliver is the move. I don't even care what we get back.. Just get the 11M cap hit off the books. Use that 11M on an OL piece or towards a Meyers/OBJ signing if they want to go that route. There is no reason Ed Oliver should be in the future plans moving forward. We saw what Chris Jones can do to a OL, Oliver is not that. Quinnen Williams.. Oliver is not that. etc etc. We cannot keep paying above average players that do not have the ability to take over games. .... and that should start this year. I'm torn on Edmunds, but Oliver has to go. That money desperately needs to be re-allocated to the Offensive side of the ball.
  20. Not a common occurrence … We have an elite QB and the team is, and should be judged, by the Playoffs. This team, assembled by Beane, and coached by McDermott, has been an abject disaster in big moments. Houston, fine, whatever. I won’t kill McDermott for that game, but it was a collapse. KC (1) We weren’t on their level. Completely outplayed. Able to accept that as a learning curve on what it takes to win a game like that. KC (2) 13 seconds… an iconic display of poor coaching/execution CIN Blown out. Not even competitive. ….Coaches have been fired for less. He should 100% be on the hot seat this year. Another loss to end the season like these past two years and I don’t know why we’d think being the one high level team with a Defensive HC is something we should continue with.
  21. I’m not sure I’m ready to explain away everything by simply pointing to “trauma”, but I heard a psychologist talk about the timeline for people experiencing trauma … long story short… he wasn’t surprised that we played our worst game in a long time last Sunday. Stated that 3 weeks is typically when the mind/body just shuts down from the traumatic event. Mental and physical exhaustion sets in. A short flurry of euphoria can carry you through based on the good news, but eventually it all catches up to you. Bills/Bengals week was right around that mark.
  22. Bengals WR’s are absurd. Both 25-30M+ per year guys when it comes time to pay them.
  23. If this continues .. is there really nothing that could change McBeane’s view on our Defense/Defensive Coaching? This has to be jarring to watch .. even if it doesn’t stay to this level.
  24. I have a gym area in my house .. and I’m not even lying when I say that 1st Q of Bengals/Chiefs forced me to get up and lift weights. I was around some people and visibly angry watching KC’s Defense … sheesh… Its coaching. It’s always been coaching. Spags steps up in the Playoffs, and typically has less talent to work with than us.
  25. Go Bengals… Then, Go Philly… I want the “Burrow can’t win the big one” narrative alive and well.
