  1. If we can sign an upgrade at Tackle in FA, it's a no-brainer (well, I say that knowing full well what we'll probably do). You sign the Tackle. We draft late in RD1, late in RD2.. etc. Legit starting Tackles out the gate aren't just there for the taking in the late 20's. We can get a LB to put next to Milano on Day 1 or Day 2. Chiefs drafted Nick Bolton late *RD2.
  2. Beane is 100%, for the first in his tenure here, worthy of some heavy criticism .. but, in fairness, Dak did not have a ton of weapons around him. I’d say they were quite similar to us.. WR1, above average TE, decent backs with an RB1 who always should’ve been supplanted by RB2, a mediocre OL and not much else.
  3. Depends. Every team carries some level of dead cap into a season. If you restructure guys who are in your long term plans, and they continue to play at a high level, it's not going to hurt you with the ever-increasing salary cap. Mess around with guys who's play falls off and/or you decide to cut, and then you're stuck with underperforming players with large cap hits and/or dead cap.
  4. Seems like 90% of the fanbase wants to trade Oliver. Which means I'm sure we won't do that. And normally I wouldn't question the GM, but lately it seems like this forum makes better Day 2 picks than our front office, so...
  5. Putting on my GM cap.. Trading Oliver, re-signing Phillips to a team friendly deal and drafting a space eating DT in the middle rounds to back up Jones seems the move to me.
  6. What are the chances anyone plays and doesn't get hurt? Von is a physical freak. I have no reason to believe he won't be a force next year, whenever he gets back on the field. That being said.. Our Defense is definitely going to be reliant upon guys coming back to full ability post-injury recovery (White, Von, Hyde). Not ideal, but it's the hand we're dealt.
  7. Game was over midway through the 3rd Q. Bengals could have scored alot more.
  8. If we want to actually give Allen a legitimate upgrade on Offense this year and make some kind of splash in Free Agency.. It seems like trading Ed Oliver is the move. I don't even care what we get back.. Just get the 11M cap hit off the books. Use that 11M on an OL piece or towards a Meyers/OBJ signing if they want to go that route. There is no reason Ed Oliver should be in the future plans moving forward. We saw what Chris Jones can do to a OL, Oliver is not that. Quinnen Williams.. Oliver is not that. etc etc. We cannot keep paying above average players that do not have the ability to take over games. .... and that should start this year. I'm torn on Edmunds, but Oliver has to go. That money desperately needs to be re-allocated to the Offensive side of the ball.
  9. Not a common occurrence … We have an elite QB and the team is, and should be judged, by the Playoffs. This team, assembled by Beane, and coached by McDermott, has been an abject disaster in big moments. Houston, fine, whatever. I won’t kill McDermott for that game, but it was a collapse. KC (1) We weren’t on their level. Completely outplayed. Able to accept that as a learning curve on what it takes to win a game like that. KC (2) 13 seconds… an iconic display of poor coaching/execution CIN Blown out. Not even competitive. ….Coaches have been fired for less. He should 100% be on the hot seat this year. Another loss to end the season like these past two years and I don’t know why we’d think being the one high level team with a Defensive HC is something we should continue with.
  10. I’m not sure I’m ready to explain away everything by simply pointing to “trauma”, but I heard a psychologist talk about the timeline for people experiencing trauma … long story short… he wasn’t surprised that we played our worst game in a long time last Sunday. Stated that 3 weeks is typically when the mind/body just shuts down from the traumatic event. Mental and physical exhaustion sets in. A short flurry of euphoria can carry you through based on the good news, but eventually it all catches up to you. Bills/Bengals week was right around that mark.
  11. Bengals WR’s are absurd. Both 25-30M+ per year guys when it comes time to pay them.
  12. If this continues .. is there really nothing that could change McBeane’s view on our Defense/Defensive Coaching? This has to be jarring to watch .. even if it doesn’t stay to this level.
  13. I have a gym area in my house .. and I’m not even lying when I say that 1st Q of Bengals/Chiefs forced me to get up and lift weights. I was around some people and visibly angry watching KC’s Defense … sheesh… Its coaching. It’s always been coaching. Spags steps up in the Playoffs, and typically has less talent to work with than us.
  14. Go Bengals… Then, Go Philly… I want the “Burrow can’t win the big one” narrative alive and well.
  15. Diggs Davis Bass Jackson This Draft gave us an elite WR1, high end WR3, top end Kicker and a CB2 capable player. That’s a solid draft. Id give it a B. Agreed that if either of their Day 2 picks panned out, this would be an A
  16. Rams last year, Eagles this year .. Two teams that absolutely had to get to the Super Bowl to warrant the level of investment into one season both made it.
  17. Not sure why anyone is clowning the Niners here .. just way too much to overcome. Josh Johnson is not playable as a backup .. I guess one could question SF for not having a better backup, but they’re on QB3.
  18. If you would’ve told me Purdy would have a perfect completion percentage and SF would still lose … I wouldn’t have believed you.
  19. I think it means drafting RB’s without elite ability is pointless. There’s some elite guys and then there’s a ton of guys dependent upon their OL.
  20. Meyers or OBJ and any of the OL mentioned. If they re-sign Edmunds, I don’t want to see any mid-high tier investment on that side of the ball in FA. Absurd if they go out pay for a Safety. Transition Benford and let’s get on with our lives.
  21. Watching the Eagles Defense makes me hate our Defense so much.
  22. This past draft is so strange… Kaiir Elam looks like he could be a future CB1, but we only have limited looks because of McD’s bizarre obsession with a rotation this year. James Cook, ditto, future RB1, but we stuck with the lesser talented RB for much of the time in Singletary due to experience and trust. Khalil Shakir looks like a dynamic WR… took forever to find a role for him. Those are 3 very real potential building blocks that we may have hit on. Nevermind the Benford draft pick who, at least looks like good CB depth, at best he may be a legit Safety next year. One could surmise we may go into ‘23 with 4 starters from that draft … and real reason to be excited about all of them. Then there’s the Bernard pick. Just infuriating. Made no sense at the time and a year later the picture doesn’t look any less blurry for his role on this team … unless his role, as a 3rd rounder, was always depth/ST linebacker.. in which case, wow…
  23. I highly doubt they would ever move Dawkins to guard. He’s still good at LT and is part of the core right now. They should move Bates to LG, as that was the position he played really well in before we got Saffold. Then I wouldn’t mind at all going RG & RT on Day 2. If they want to go C round 4, fine by me. This OL needs serious investment this off-season. I don’t rule out Brown making a jump, but he needs competition. WR is where I’d go RD1 unless a slam dunk OL is there. That all being said… we know Beane doesn’t like going into the draft with glaring holes. We did last year at CB, but I have a suspicion that Beane signs a legit WR2 to make sure if we strike out in the Draft, Josh isn’t hung out to dry.
  24. I hate to agree with this… but I do think we are softer than the Bengals. I’d say that’s VERY obvious.
  25. A good bit is coaching and scheme. Allen was getting pressured on everything .. immediately .. blitzes from all over coming untouched, normal rushes, 3 man rushes … they were on skates all day.
