Another thing this report tells me, is that the Bills may actually do some unexpected stuff this off-season. I would NEVER have thought I’d see that tweet referenced by the OP, re: Tremaine. Gives some hope for those of us also begging them to trade Oliver and really transform the Offense.

Matt Araiza, The Punt God, Signs With Team in Mexico
SCBills replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills should bring him back, if our society wasn’t trash.. but we of course, can’t… and half our fans still probably believe the initial story. Once you’re branded, it’s over. You could tell Beane felt awful about having to cut him. If I had to guess, he knew he had to, but also knew he was cutting a guy for something that didn’t happen as it was framed. -
Bills go into next year with the following players on Defense: Von Miller Daquan Jones Greg Rousseau Matt Milano Taron Johnson Tre’Davious White Kaiir Elam Micah Hyde Figure it out.
-
Agreed, although I could see Jordan Phillips if he’s willing to come back cheap. He just can’t be relied upon enough to give him what we gave last year.
-
Lots of fans of other teams in the comments wanting him. I think Edmunds is going to get PAID. We’ll finally see if all this respect he gets from opposing coaches isn’t just lip service.
-
Good to hear. Really good player. And in another time, he’d make all the sense in the world to prioritize and bring back, but with heavy defensive dollars tied up in Von Miller, Tre White, Matt Milano and Micah Hyde (essentially one potential star player at each level of the defense), it’s time to move on. I’d still be shocked if we didn’t do something stupid like match what will inevitably be a big contract offer from someone else, but this is promising for those of us that want offensive investment this off-season.
-
Not worked up over this. He would’ve been nice this past year, but the Bills need a legit WR2, which would’ve made Hodgins a WR4 at best, likely WR5 behind Shakir next year … assuming that we do right by Josh (which is apparently assuming a lot).

Jalen Hurts This Jalen Hurts That - 3 Rush TDs
SCBills replied to Jerome007's topic in The Stadium Wall
Their WR room isn’t better than ours, simply because of Diggs.. but it’s way deeper and more versatile. Which is fine for them given they have the best offensive weapon in the league, Kelce. Would you rather have Chiefs weapons or Bills? I’m taking whichever group has Travis Kelce. Then factor in their OL that is infinitely better than ours at the moment .. which allows everyone to look better. -

I would very much disagree with this assessment. Chiefs OL #2 in the NFL. Bills OL, bottom third of the league. Chiefs have the best TE, maybe in NFL history. Knox is a top 10 potential TE. Chiefs WR room is deep and versatile with MVS, Juju, Toney, Hardman, Moore (That's four WR2/3 guys and a RD2 rookie) Bills WR room is Diggs, Davis, McKenzie, Shakir (That's an elite WR1, a WR3, WR5, RD5 rookie) Chiefs RB room is Pacheco/McKinnon/CEH Bills RB room is Cook/Singletary/Hines On what planet is the Offensive talent for Buffalo equal to, or better than, the Chiefs? -
Don't think "WR2" in the upcoming draft. Think WR1.

There are some players I just don’t want on this team any longer, even if it’s just a slight cap savings. I love Poyer as a person/player for us, but I don’t want that much money tied up at safety. Edmunds is really good. And his discourse is going to drive me crazy until we inevitably re-sign him, but how can we justify that much at LB/Slot (Milano, Johnson AND Edmunds)… ok, cool. Sorry Josh, hope you don’t die.. we gotta have a defense that can annihilate mid-QB’s and then let us down in the playoffs. Oliver. I believe I’ve said enough on him and his cap hit. I’ll take a ham sandwich in return. Singletary. Don’t want him back. Not even on a friendly deal. Nothing about him ever excited me, and it’s time to move on and let him be good at everything, but not great at anything somewhere else. McKenzie. I’ll take the small cap savings. Shakir can, and should, do everything we had McKenzie doing. Give his money to Beasley, and then draft/sign a WR2. -
Bills need to hit on picks to have a chance
SCBills replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills have this Offense (or something similar) post draft and my faith will be restored.. Allen Cook/Hines/Ibrahim Dawkins/Bates/Morse/Torrence/Wright Diggs/OBJ/Davis/Shakir/Beasley Knox/Morris Free Agency - OBJ Draft - RD1 Torrence, RD2 Darnell Wright May require trading our RD3 to move up in RD2 to get Wright, but we get as sure fire as it gets prospects at G and RT. Day 3 can go all defense, aside from a Mohammed Ibrahim type at RB. That Offense is on par, or perhaps exceeds, every offense in the NFL. It’s not unrealistic. -

Im fine bringing back Beasley on a cheap deal, but not as the starting slot. We have a WR1 and a WR3. We need a WR2. Beasley and Shakir can be WR4 and WR5 if we get that legit WR2. Say we do sign OBJ.. I’m fine with Beasley as the part time slot, with Diggs/Davis/OBJ/Shakir all able to play inside/outside. Cole has a role here if he wants to sign for cheap, but he’s not an answer. -
Quote from Josh highlighting the Bills' flawed thinking...
SCBills replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s going to be up to Josh to slay Mahomes. All we can hope is Beane does enough to give him a fighting chance, because we will never be their equal in the GM/HC department as long as Reid & Veach are there. -
Perhaps .. or we just let Edmunds walk and give Allen a weapon or protection with that money. Or trade Oliver for a box of donuts and there’s your 11M. We have non-kick the can down the road moves that can be made. We don’t have to be held hostage by obsessive defensive investment with a defensive hc in an offensive driven league.
-
Id counter with the fact KC doesn’t invest heavy dollars, outside pass rush, to guys on defense. Evidenced by letting Sneed walk. Also bolstered by having excess picks. If the Bills took a blow torch to the defense and had to draft a LB and CB early, but spent like the Chiefs did on OL.. I’d be all about it. The difference between the two teams, aside from the Chiefs drafting better lately, is that they don’t get cap strapped to help Mahomes because of defensive investment. I don’t think Veach would pay Edmunds. I also don’t think he’d ever have picked up Oliver’s fifth year option. Yet we’re all worried about cap issues re: offensive help here because Edmunds and Oliver are likely going to eat up 24M of cap space next year.
-
KC is potentially losing Hardman and Juju this off-season. So.. how would y’all feel if they signed OBJ to a 2 year deal? If you’d hate that, we should sign him. If you don’t care, well then.. there’s your answer.

There's one big takeaway, and it's one i'm quite confident is lost on Beane and McDermott.. Eagles Defense pulled a Bills/Frazier when it mattered. All the investment anyone could want. Led the league all season in almost every metric. Fell flat on their face against an elite Offense in the biggest moments. Could not tell the difference between their elite defense and the average Chiefs defense. ...because that's all you need. An average defense with a gamewrecker on the line. Von is that for us. Jones is that for KC. Make no mistake, for all the offense talk, Chiefs don't even get to the Super Bowl without Chris Jones. If he tore his ACL, it's a wrap on their season also. However, they have a fighting shot, because they realize that beyond Chris Jones... it doesn't matter, it just has to be league average... and due to that philosophy, Mahomes has an elite OL and a ton of weapons every year.

I can't be annoyed by this stuff anymore. It's how the media works. Get Allen an OL and weapons commensurate with the other top QB's in the league and maybe he gets talked about like Mahomes and Burrow again. Until then, Josh has nobody else to blame except for those in charge of protecting him, getting him help and leading the team to a Super Bowl. -
Chris Brown is absurdly talented. His hit catalogue is next level and he's a straight up performer. One of the best dancers in the industry. Kanye is just another level, performance-wise. His Donda event with the burning house and Kim K coming out in a wedding dress... just iconic stuff. Unfortunately, we've likely seen the last of those two on a large stage. They've committed the unforgivable corporate sins.
-
Oh, I agree.. I'm just being salty over the fact we either didn't want, or weren't given the opportunity, to get Toney. Chiefs learned their lesson with CEH. Can't ever see them drafting a RB high again.
-
Chiefs have picks to move around, maybe they'll give away pick 25 like they did Toney so they can jump us again.
-
Ironically enough, given both of these artists were in songs Rihanna sang... Kanye or Chris Brown would probably put on one of the best halftime shows ever, but of course, corporate NFL could never.
-
Carr on the Jets makes them a playoff contender, but that will be their ceiling in the AFC for the foreseeable future. Carr likely still gets a 40M per year AAV.. He has suitors, and I'll be surprised if he ends up making less than that. Jets have a really good defense and really nice weapons. Perhaps they even fix the OL this off-season and give Carr everything above average around him... he's still Derek Carr. And Derek Carr isn't good enough to compete in a conference with Mahomes, Allen and Burrow.. let alone Herbert, Lawrence, Tua etc..

SCBills replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oliver would 100% bring back a late round pick. There are teams that will see him as a pass rush boost from the interior, scheme fit, and willing to get him in the locker room to see if he’s a long term fit. White, we’ll see… it would be a gamble for anyone trading for him, but recent data shows that this coming year is when Tre White will bounce back to pro-bowl caliber Tre White. The year after the recovery/comeback year. Which is also why I doubt the Bills would sell low to move him. Regardless, Edmunds and Oliver should have no business being on this team next year … and Beane can make it so they aren’t here. That’s 22-24M the Bills can re-allocate to the Offense.
